QUOTE(mafioso @ Dec 2 2018, 04:07 PM) thanks for the explanation anyway i might consider these instead: huper optik = 60/40/40 haverkamp = 70/40/40 meaning to say 60 for FWS is like the most optimal already for good driving experience at night? if go lets say like 50% VLT then its defintely gonna mess with the view? based on my experience, i prefer 70% for FWS. anything darker will give poor visibility at night+rain.

QUOTE(ImSIEBEL @ Dec 26 2018, 06:54 PM) Quick question, i recently install tint ikut the jpj spec but right after new year i need to send for inspection for car change of name. Do i need to remove tint ? Last min need to change name. Puspakom and JPJ are two different agencies.. regardless if JPJ approved tint or not, most likely will not pass. Very clear tint will have higher chance to pass.. puspakom can be very inconsistent in this case.

QUOTE(exeon @ Dec 27 2018, 12:33 PM) What I mean was rm400 tint also has many different types, I'm just asking whether there's any tint has decent quality among all varies within that price range or not, who knows rm400 can find a good shop with good workmanship that's offering decent tint for that price? You can't expect everyone have to apply tint with price rm1000 above, not everyone has that budget, and with low budget doesn't mean have no choices, which is why there's low end products. Don't be so sarcastic dear riche hi. there are some good cheap tints.. for example if you go to Layang car accessory shop, they have Nanotint and some UV400 tints.. what turn me off is the workmanship (done by non-local). good tints are a bit pricey yes, but it comes with good workmanship. of course, there are horror stories from so-called authorized tint installer but normally it will be a one-off case. i have used cheap tints before (supposedly some korean brand). never fade and heat rejection lasted at least 5 years. but, the installer didn't use towel to cover the door cards (only on dashboard). the result? i needed to wipe off the mess when i got back home. will i do it again? no.

FYI, Installed 3M Crystalline 70 on the front windscreen. RFID works flawlessly behind the tint but to my surprise, Smart Tag doesn't. Need to roll down windows and stick the tag out. No biggie as I use RFID more.

some of the claimed TSER are too good to be true, can rival or even better than PhotoSync IRD.

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Sep 8 2023, 10:23 AM) Smart tag use Infrared as signal. U take Tint with 97-99% IRR, sure it struggling to work or basically not working. Based on own experience, 95% IRR the max in order for Tag to work, 90% IRR ok. i echo this statement. 97% iRR cannot work with smartag. < 95% can actually vkool elite is not so elite one.. only 94% IRR

QUOTE(razkal @ Sep 14 2023, 09:04 AM) Can you guys recommend any recommended tint. New car but tint that is factory fitted still hot inside the car when compared to my second car civic using 3M. Last time tint whole car 3M just RM2K in 2019. Now not sure now pricing. of late, i notice some tints (like hamel, rhinepro, xpel) cost more than 3m. you can check what is 3m latest price now.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 15 2023, 05:49 PM) Thanks for the recommendations.... Can i say VKOOL is still the gold standard ? back then, vkool & 3m (crystalline) are the top brands. but nowadays, there seems to be a lot of alternatives. in the us, xpel seems to be popular.

QUOTE(Bunny.Hitam @ Sep 16 2023, 12:15 AM) Guys, let say my front glass pecah, and Im using 3M. My insurance cover for the windshield, but does the 3M will reinstall back the tinted ? Is that what the 5 years warranty for ? depends on two things: 1 - your windscreen coverage amount. it needs to be enough to cover both glass and tint 2 - tint shop - some applicators do provide windscreen claim service. so you can do both windscreen replacement + apply new tint.

Thanks guys. seems the rule still applies but must meet the new VLT criteria. I better tear off the front windscreen tint (50% vlt)

QUOTE(tinkerfy @ Sep 25 2023, 04:24 PM) Better remove both front windows tinting as well! Else confirm will fail regardless of follow JPJ specs or not. These are done using their equipment under shaded area so will minus more VLT. yeah that is what i did back in the old days. what i noticed they pouspakom fella didnt bother to test the windows at all LoL.

QUOTE(Bombgen @ Oct 10 2023, 12:32 PM) No its on the outside..wondering if it can interfere in any way.. i have CR70 and installed the RFID inside the windscreen (means rfid is behind the tint, in fact it is behind the black sunshade) and can pass through all rfid lanes with no issue.

QUOTE(Eterman @ Oct 11 2023, 12:35 PM) i think ,normal car glass without tint already not 100% vlt so even follow jpj spec tint, final vlt will be below the spec. does jpj have a "range" of vlt? its always the same VLT. 70% front, 50% front side and any number for the rest of the windows. the problem is, most people relate VLT for tint film only, not the window darkness (glass + tint film). its the interpretation.

QUOTE(Eterman @ Oct 12 2023, 10:14 AM) i see, the issue here would be many shop's highest vlt tint is 70%, therefore, need to go with no windshield tint to be safe. coz most high vlt tints are less effective in blocking heat (low IRR & TSER). 70% vlt film is the min to be effective. 3m and active-e tint do provide > 80% vlt film (which fws will end up getting > 70% vlt) but it is as good as no tint haha

QUOTE(BoonieTan @ Feb 13 2024, 10:03 AM) I'm in the midst of picking Raytech tint, what would be the good spec to repeal the sunlight heat sufficiently? I trust I have to look at infrared rejection rate right? What's the minimum threshold? if you use Smart Tag alot, for front windscreen, get something like 95~97% IRR. this is borderline already for smarttag use.. get the highest IRR for the rest of the windows.

QUOTE(BoonieTan @ Feb 13 2024, 11:51 PM) Thanks for the replies. Budget is indeed a constraining factor to me. I'm thinking of going with 58% VLT and 70% IRR as a compromise. Will this do? As this package actually comes with the purchase of a car, I have to top up RM 800 for this spec. Would this be reasonable? The listed price for this spec is RM 1,800 though. Aiyak.. 70% IRR is quite low to be honest. I'm not familiar with raytech but you can ask the SA, how much you need to topup to get > 90% IRR spec? Nego from there.

QUOTE(Waltz_168 @ Oct 25 2024, 02:10 AM) My 3M Crystalline 70 has the 3M logo that cannot be wiped off with Isopropyl alcohol even at 90% concentration. The dealer said the logo will gradually fade within a few months from repeated wiping/cleaning which is a bit sus, because with almost all the video I've seen the logo can be removed immediately. That said, the rainbow effect when the windows are sprayed with water seem to be present. Did I just got conned and installed a fake 3M tint? P.S. RM2800 for Civic i have CR70 on the windscreen. back then, the installer asked me which 3M logo to remove and remain. the logo was removed easily by using a cleaner (probably alcohol). Installed at B1. did you receive the 3M digital certificate?
