Hi Gurus

Need some recommendation for notebooks/laptops

1. Preferred Brand: Anything but Apple. Anything means reliable in terms of Support & Service as well as product.
2. Budget: 3k
3. Usage: Business with lots of application testing and productivity tools running - I need CPU speed.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: min 14"

Thanks y'all

you mean no Apple? rclxub.gif

Dell Inspiron 14R, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) @RM2499[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), Ubuntu 12.04 , 6 cell; W8SL@RM2699

Best Support and service after sales

might want to consider Lenovo Y410p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT755M(GDDR5)@RM2899, 4GB, 1TB, DOS, red backlit, 120w psu, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

Can consider this one brows.gif
14"
Dell
Inspiron 14 7000, i5-4200U + Intel HD4400 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2699[2.02kg], 6GB(soldered), , W8SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr, No ODD

*price in RRP, negotiable
*the mSATA SSD will give you a much smoother computing experience than just having a lot of CPU performance
*use remaining budget for warranty extension to 3 years

1. Preferred Brand: Anything means reliable in terms of Support & Service as well as product. Not really need touch screen. And not really care about batt life or the weight.
2. Budget: 1.8~ 2k
3. Usage: Photoshop, Catia, Gaming (world of tanks)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14"~15" 4GB Ram and nvdia GT740m or equal.

Ok here's the thing, current laptop is Acer 5920G, bought it 5~6years ago. at that time its 4.5k. so it is not a surprise it could last this long.
Thought i had to replace the HDD and change the RAM to 4GB.
However good things can't last forever. Symptoms of old age are showing.

Nowadays, i kind of loose hope for Acer laptop around 2k price. quality and build wise i dunno can last how long.

Got my eyes on Lenovo z400 non-touch, but seems discontinued? and some still sell but the price varied to rm2199.

Initial budget is just 1.8k. some of lenovo g400s, s410p, almost catch my eyes, but the 720m GC is so-so.

I dunno how good is Dell these days.

I hope my laptop can wait till early next year.
So that new laptop or current laptop to drop more in price.

Any suggestion of current model and new model that might came out with the above requirement and price tag?

Thanks~

I wouldn't get it. You can easily get a GTX660M or equivalent laptop below RM3k.

Get the MSI GS 17 instead, GTX765M, i7-4700QM, 17" FHD and at 2.6kg only

Or go for the Illegear RE-17

Thanks for the prompt respond, appreciate your help very much.
i have some confusion rclxub.gif , you recommend Inspiron 15 7000 vs 15R but i check the spec and price seem like 15R is cheaper with better spec, is there any hidden spec i dont see on Dell website?

Same processor, window and screen but
15 7000 vs 15R
6GB Ram vs 8GB Ram
7500GB HDD vs 1TB HDD
Intel® HD Graphics 4400 vs AMD Radeon™ HD 8670M 2GB DDR3
RM2899 vs RM2299

Thanks
