QUOTE(QuickFire @ Nov 14 2013, 08:13 PM) Got my friend to bring back a 32Gb black from Australia. Shipping is in 4-5 weeks, with a $AUD20 shipping fee. Total is about $AUD469, about RM 1,400. She'll only be back on 1st Jan, damn, such a long wait. Anyone knows how to get the GST refund at the australian airport? That will save me about RM 125. whoa! RM1400 for 32GB?? damn worth bro.

Typically in the EU, there are many forms to fill or one buys stuff only from shops participating in Global Blue Tax Free service. Just need to pay a small service charge and you pay only for the goods there and then tax free. Usually not available through purchases online, but I can't find info whether it is really not applicable. Is your friend just in AUS to visit or does he/she have a resident permit? If he/she has a resident permit, it is already not allowed to get a refund, even if she is buying it for a friend.

I think I saw someone posting about emailing google to get a proper tax invoice which can then be presented to the customs people at the airport. I'll try searching. Well it's actually two friends. One is staying in australia and he bought it for me, and will be shipped to his address, while the other friend is visiting him and will bring the phone back for me. I'll try getting the GST refund, if not it's still a really good deal. Just hope that it doesn't come with any defects!

Just went through the reviews of gsmarena and found out about the poor battery life. Actually I think gsmarena is just trying to make it look worse? Somehow, at 50% brightness, Nexus 5 has about 300 nit and LG G2 only has half of it. You can see the difference in brightness in this video as well: http://youtu.be/qJNSBO29J_c

I just realise they use 50% for each phone and not locking the phone to a certain brightness. And earlier today I saw a video comparison of Nexus 5 and the LG G2. The Nexus 5 at about 30% brightness is already brighter than the LG G2 at 50% brightness. Then again, I do not know who to trust now at all lol.

That's what I said before. gsmarena doesn't standardize screen brightness across all devices.
my nexus 5 panel is really bright coming from sgs4. Even the auto brightness is a bit too bright to my liking. I had to use lux to reduce it to my comfortable level.

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Nov 14 2013, 05:29 PM) Flashing custom kernel won't magically G2 like battery life. There might be improvement but it'll around 10-20% (rough estimation). The 2300mA battery won't be enough to power up the 1080p screen for too long. You probably need to learn to use the phone conservatively & monitor the apps in device to prevent wakelocks & whatnot to prolong the battery life as much as possible. This is how I learned to live with my Nexus 4. Love the software & hardware except for the less than stellar battery life & *cough* "average" *cough" camera. I agree with u battery optimization ? bigger capacity beat that. g2 has quite a lot of development too , when ur nexus can flash custom kernel , how about flashing the custom kernel and cm/pa/aokp on g2?

I would seriously consider G2 if LG put the power at the side instead of at the back.

My sister and I are currently studying abroad. She'll be going to Aussie for holidays soon. Is it wiser to ask her/ her angmoh bf to get it there for me? Or should I just ask my gf to buy it for me from 1G?

QUOTE(iOrange @ Nov 14 2013, 07:01 PM) 4 hours + for browsing is rather insufficient for me Find something more productive to do then, not healthy to stare at a small 4.95in screen so long. Good news is that Malaysian prices have dropped to rm1699, I think once LG officially brings them in the AP sets should be down to 1.3_1.4k price.
