I think if you guys can somehow get the it from Australia, whether the 16 or 32gb, it will be the deal of the year. And if you manage to get the GST refund, it's going to be something like RM1200 for the 32gb version. What a bloody steal. And to think people are selling the 16gb for twice that here.

Well even without the GST refund it's an unbeatable deal. But I believe you can email google for the tax invoice and get the refund at the airport. 10%.

Got my friend to bring back a 32Gb black from Australia. Shipping is in 4-5 weeks, with a $AUD20 shipping fee. Total is about $AUD469, about RM 1,400. She'll only be back on 1st Jan, damn, such a long wait.
Anyone knows how to get the GST refund at the australian airport? That will save me about RM 125.

QUOTE(kelvinlym @ Nov 14 2013, 08:37 PM) Not too sure about AUS. Typically in the EU, there are many forms to fill or one buys stuff only from shops participating in Global Blue Tax Free service. Just need to pay a small service charge and you pay only for the goods there and then tax free. Usually not available through purchases online, but I can't find info whether it is really not applicable. Is your friend just in AUS to visit or does he/she have a resident permit? If he/she has a resident permit, it is already not allowed to get a refund, even if she is buying it for a friend. I think I saw someone posting about emailing google to get a proper tax invoice which can then be presented to the customs people at the airport. I'll try searching. Well it's actually two friends. One is staying in australia and he bought it for me, and will be shipped to his address, while the other friend is visiting him and will bring the phone back for me. I'll try getting the GST refund, if not it's still a really good deal. Just hope that it doesn't come with any defects!

QUOTE(clon12 @ Nov 15 2013, 08:16 AM) Here's a good link for you. http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4646.asp» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The TRS enables you to claim a refund, subject to certain conditions, of the goods and services tax (GST) and wine equalisation tax (WET) that you pay on goods you buy in Australia.
To claim a refund you must:
Spend $300 (GST inclusive) or more in the one store and retain your invoices. Have purchased the goods no more than 60 days before your departure from Australia. Wear or carry the goods on board the aircraft or ship and present them along with your original tax invoice, passport and international boarding pass to a Customs and Border Protection Officer at a TRS facility. Last time I went to Bangkok they have this VAT claiming counter at the airport. So I figure Aussie is also the same. QUOTE(sleepy 1 @ Nov 15 2013, 10:45 AM) Just go to TRS in the airport after check in and show them the phone and receipt. But beware that you cannot claim the GST if you flight would depart in half an hour. Thanks guys. My friend is actually bringing back two units, will the SIRIM thing be a problem? It's just for personal use anyway...

QUOTE(xDjWanNabex @ Nov 28 2013, 02:21 PM) For the people who have ordered, just want to know, from the time you placed payment, how long would it take to deliver? Going to Aussie next month for holidays, thinking of getting my cousin there to order and deliver to his place, so i can collect it when i go there.. or should i buy at a retail shop, at least can check for defects or what not.. I dont know if you order it now, but my friend in Australia ordered the 32GB Black for me on 13 November and it leaves the warehouse on 6 December according to Google. So it should reach him before mid-December. Apparently the 32GB black is the most popular model and all those who ordered it after the first week of launch have to wait until 6 December for it to ship. Other variants may be faster.

QUOTE(zorbyss. @ Dec 1 2013, 01:04 PM) Well, i have seen people claimed it but are Australians when they leave Australia. just see if any Malaysian manage to do it. They actually request a different invoice from Google. AFAIK, the invoice that initially received by buyers is not legit for the tax claim. Google Asia Pacific is registered as an Australian Business so there should be GST refund. http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?abn=54341015381

That can happen with any other phone too I would think. Just depends on the floor surface and angle the phone hits it...

QUOTE(Xnet @ Dec 8 2013, 03:11 PM) Price is almost the same so that is not valid You can get a 32GB Nexus 5 unit from sellers on this forum for about RM1,700 I reckon. If you get your friend to bring it over from overseas like me, then it's even cheaper. Mine is RM 1,300 once I get the GST refund from Australia. LG G2 would be above RM 2,000 I'm guessing?
