That was from https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=64282778

TS can put this image I made to the front page. It looks impressive but remember that voltage alone is not the lone factor. More details from the xda thread I pulled out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483794

nexus 5 fail in drop test
*
These type of phones are not meant to be dropped. A more practical test will be a drop test with different cases on.

Don't assume, I read an article the other day. A study shows that on average, every user drops their phone 6 times in every year. I can't recall that article.
*
I believe I've read similar article too. Which is why phone casing market is booming. We hardly sees any phone without one because we know these phones has glass and it will break if dropped.

If buy from aussie play store on the 5th, how long does it take to ship to your house (in aussie)? I have a friend that will be there for couple of days so if the courier speed is fast then I might ask him to buy for me. Anyone here from aussie & bought from the play store before? How fast do they ship to you?  hmm.gif
*
Bought from playstore and google says it will ship from 5th Nov. I received the phone on the 4th. However shipment depends on the courier. Many others got it later. Check out this thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2177647 if you seriously want to know.

Malaysian can buy from google play store??
*
It's exclusive to Australian only?

BTW, check this out

N5 has autofocus like many other phones but iphone don't. Another thing he didn't mention is nexus 5 managed to capture the birds flying when he pointed the phones at the sky. iphone didn't get it because of lack of autofocus - he would have to tap on the screen to focus it manually.

It's hard to gauge to colour accuracy without proper monitor calibration although nexus5 seems to have more warmth in comparison.

and titanium backup I believe. ART is not for end user. It's for developers to experiment on.

Im thinking Nexus 5 or Note 3.
My major concern is camera and battery.
*
Note3 have much better battery life. Camera however, I learn to make do with it. I didn't expect much out of it except for uploading to google+.

Maybe no, but there have solution way so no worry. nod.gif
*
There's a solution? Then I'd like to know. I have D821 but with a 3G plan. There is no indication the phone is searching for 4G network but the option for 3G is immediately deselected after I exited the Settings app.

Copy from that site,

1. Open Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode -> Select 3G
2. Verify that Network Mode is shown as 3G
3. With back button move to one page backwards
4. Again open "Mobile Networks"
5. Verify that 3G setting is gone and "Network Mode" is "Change the network operating mode" as if no setings has been done.
*
That is not a solution.

No big deal.  I tested it on my non-LTE contract (D821 ver).  Selecting 4G will connect it to HSDPA+ (H icon on the network signal).  Selecting 3G will show the bug, but phone still connects to HSDPA+.
*
True but that is not the point. The phone will keep on searching for a 4G signal and this will drain the battery. This is why limiting the phone to 3G only is important so as not to make the phone keep on searching a 4G signal.

Honestly, my standby time is superior to sgs4 on 3G. So I'm not sure if the 3G option not sticking is just a bug in the GUI or truly a bug in hardware switching. If it is the latter, then I can expect much improved battery life.

Where did you get wifi at medium brightness? Also what is medium brightness? Different panel has different brightness.

I'd wait for anandtech's review that standardized all screen test at 200nits.

As I suspected, gsmarena tests are not scientific at all. Should take with a pinch of salt.

Seriously, you don't need Anadtech's review o know that Nexus 5's battery life will be average.Or crap like some people would say.
*
I don't know if you own a nexus 5 but I do. I also like to present evidence backing up my claims.

I can get the phone through the day with similar usage as my sgs4. A reason why a 2300mAh battery could perform similarly to sgs4:

- S800 being much more power efficient than s600. Source and formatted image I made
user posted image
The table above is compared against s600. My exynos sgs4 would fare worse than s600. The information looks believable because my nexus5 standby time is much better than my sgs4.

Besides that, we know kitkat has reduced memory footprint. I have no concrete source but there are rumours of software optimizations to reduce battery consumption too although it is not far fetched.

Anandtech's tests are standardized. That has more credibility than some random people claim's with various unknown parameters such as whether google now is enabled, brightness level, location accuracy is high or low, wifi/4g/3g etc.

FWIW, I am happy with nexus 5 battery life. I haven't even root the phone or flash custom kernel yet thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Ahmaz @ Nov 14 2013, 04:30 PM)
I repeat again; you guys are just considering hard paper specs and ignoring software optimisations completely. Go look at faux/franco kernel on N5.
*
franco tells us nothing about his kernel sad.gif

There's a possible battery leak which has been manually solved by supercurio. I couldn't find where it is but if this is true, then I can expect longer standby battery life.

That's what I said before. gsmarena doesn't standardize screen brightness across all devices.

my nexus 5 panel is really bright coming from sgs4. Even the auto brightness is a bit too bright to my liking. I had to use lux to reduce it to my comfortable level.

for network selection.....i can just leave it as LTE? even in area with no LTE?
*
Yes you can like I do. There is a bug in the 3G switching but the phone will connect to 3G anyway. I don't see any battery draining so the bug may not be serious.

cause most of the review say the black touching sensation nicer? Glossy look can look very mess after wears and tears scratch

I'm guessing if they made a FULL white Nexus 5 it will get a hit, too bad it's like "yin yong" kind of color where front black back white
*
Black colour is nicer to touch as many people have said. I own the "Panda" version. It's a matte finish, not glossy at all. Personally, it is very nice to touch though it can be a bit slippery.

I disagree with a full white phone. I've had a white sgs4. The white front distracts me from the screen and it made the screen looks a bit smaller than nexus5 - illusion I know. The white earpiece gives me a quick information which side is up and gives it a distinct design language that sets it apart from other phones.

Another reason I chose white is because the Nexus lettering at the back is more prominent than the black's smile.gif
