That price is not bad considering that it's supposed to have warranty,it's readily available and it's the D821 model which supports our LTE bands. Nexus 5 [V2], The Google Flagship

QUOTE(akash3656 @ Nov 14 2013, 10:58 PM) Don't trust gsmarena. I just realise they use 50% for each phone and not locking the phone to a certain brightness. And earlier today I saw a video comparison of Nexus 5 and the LG G2. The Nexus 5 at about 30% brightness is already brighter than the LG G2 at 50% brightness. Anandtech's reviews are trustworthy imo Then again, I do not know who to trust now at all lol. |

Just got my D820 32GB from shirogawa. Below are my first impressions
-Beautiful screen, accurate colors, good black levels -seriously light chassis ,but still solid -loud speakers, just a bit below my previous ZL. much better than the one on the N4 -gets hot playing hi10p videos -charges fast with a 2A charger, the stock charger is slower though [1.2A output] |

QUOTE(whereis the love @ Nov 27 2013, 09:32 AM) QUOTE(Ahmaz @ Nov 27 2013, 10:58 AM) How long have you been using that particular N5? reddit owners are sayign it disappears after a while From what I observed so far the screen changes it's color tenperature on the fly based on what's on the screen/ambient brightness etc etc (these variables are not confirmed yet, they're just my observation). Mine can go from having pure whites to slight warmer whites depending on those conditions. It doesn't matter if you have auto brightness or manual brightness control. Iirc the same thing can observed on the z,zl and htc one. The nexus 4's screen doesn't do this though as far as i can tell.I've also noticed that the cpu cannot stay at 2.3ghz for more than 2 cores while playing a long, high bitrate 720p hi10p video. The phone seems to be having trouble managing the maximum heat output of the cpu. With custom kernels from faux and franco the situation is better, but the phone still cannot run all of it's cpu cores at their max frequency. That said for 99% of people this wont be a problem. Normal usage and gaming is fine. Web pages are rendered using all 4 cores at 2.3ghz whichbgoes back down to 300mhz when done. |

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Nov 27 2013, 07:04 PM) It's a well known fact that Google implement high cpu throttle with their Nexus devices. Some custom kernels changes this. I've already raised the temperature limit to 80c and core shut down limit to 85c,and the phone runs hot. Even then the behaviour of the cores is still the same. They still throttle after some time. With -50mV UV the phone runs a bit cooler, but just. I wonder whether the Z1 and G2 does the same if put under the same load. Perhaps someone can test this? I used the System Monitor app to monitor the CPU usage in real time,it has a floating widget that displays such info. |

QUOTE(cocoscrapy @ Nov 28 2013, 09:39 AM) The sound quality and volume through the headphone jack is great, it can easily drive my ATH-M50 headphones. The sound quality and volume through speakers is pretty average, but far better than the Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S. |

QUOTE(Kagekiyo @ Nov 30 2013, 12:16 PM) Hi all, Mine is 310K,haven't noticed anything that might be considered manufacturing defects yet, except for slight light bleed on top left of the screen. For those existing Nexus 5 owners in this thread, i'm interested to know what batch number your nexus 5 model falls under. According to the forum members in XDA Developers, the latest batch is marked "311k" which is the latest batch being currently shipped out that has "most" of the initial batch's manufacturing defects fixed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534423 |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Dec 8 2013, 08:24 PM) The price is crazy, USD 350 x3.2 = RM 1152(RM 1599). If the phone was bought in the US,there's still tax for the phone [usually around 7%] and the local postage. So it's more like 385USD [RM1250~]. AFAIK the cheapest Nexus 5 you can get is from Shirogawa, RM1369 for the 16GB D820.These sellers... FACEPALM! How about self-import? |

QUOTE(Galaxy_Nexus @ Dec 12 2013, 11:50 PM) The screen IMO , is great. Side by side it's hard to find differences with my calibrated desktop display.Black levels could be better, but other than that it's hard to fault the N5's display. QUOTE The new Nexus 7 impressed me with how accurate its display was in terms of color reproduction, beginning with Google stating it targeted sRGB (the color space for both the web and Android) calibration for it. The Nexus 5 seems to have done the same, and wowed me with the best GMB color checker Delta-Es we’ve seen from any Android handset. In addition, the Nexus 5 has none of the saturation boost that’s sadly quite pervasive right now, instead giving the right evenly spaced saturation stepping on its color channels. The Nexus 7 has slightly lower Delta-E, but it’s clear to me that Google has made color calibration an emphasis on the Nexus line. It’s interesting to hear some Nexus 5 users complain that the display seems undersaturated, since that kind of end user feedback reflects subjective comparison. It also suggests to me that a large percentage of the population doesn’t know what some colors or system elements actually should be. Even for me, looking at the green elements inside the Google Play store on the Note 3 in movie mode or Nexus 5 initially seemed slightly more muted than normal. The reality is that this is what they actually should look like. We’ve just become accustomed to their oversaturated appearance on virtually every other device. This kind of expectation about what looks right and what doesn’t is rather telling for the state of display calibration in Android handsets, and how OEMs have used oversaturated colors to increase retail shelf appeal. Unfortunately the reality is that oversaturated colors do seem to win taste tests among shoppers, the same way that TVs in most big boxes do. We’ve been looking at them for so long that well calibrated displays like Nexus 5 initially do look noticeably different. The end result is easy to sum up, however – Nexus 5 has the best calibrated display I’ve seen so far in any Android handset. It’s also leaps and bounds more accurate and controlled than its predecessor display in the Nexus 4. |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Dec 14 2013, 12:26 PM) Bought Nillkin glass screen protector and Nillkin Frosted case. SP is a bit thick but because it is curved around the edges it feels like Nokia phones now which I liked very much, and the case is less rubbery than the black back of the phone so it's easier to slide inside the pocket How hard [or easy] it is to apply the glass sp? How much did you bought it for? |
