Flashing custom kernel won't magically G2 like battery life. There might be improvement but it'll around 10-20% (rough estimation). The 2300mA battery won't be enough to power up the 1080p screen for too long. You probably need to learn to use the phone conservatively & monitor the apps in device to prevent wakelocks & whatnot to prolong the battery life as much as possible.
This is how I learned to live with my Nexus 4. Love the software & hardware except for the less than stellar battery life & *cough* "average" *cough" camera.

battery optimization ? bigger capacity beat that.
g2 has quite a lot of development too , when ur nexus can flash custom kernel , how about flashing the custom kernel and cm/pa/aokp on g2?
