are you sure the gov is encouraging us to have credit card? I though BNM is pushing on debit card usage for the purpose of prudent financial management?

no, first credit card will also be charged with rm50 gst.
but some banks will absorb the rm50 gst for the first year (pay on your behalf to gov) if you apply and use their credit card.

Currently I'm using UOB One Card, I'm wondering if there is any other credit card (expect Wise Card) that provide up to 7% petrol cash rebate or higher than UOB One Card?

For Petrol, MBB2 Amex 5% rebate plus x5 point (equal 2% rebate) total 7% , but this is only applicable on weekends, not weekdays

Citibank-Shell Card,
U Have to Spend at Least RM$2500 a Month (Must Included $1700 on Others Spend + $800 on Shell Fuel) baru can Get 8% on Shell Fuel Rebate & You Only Can get 8% Rebate from the $800 Shell Fuel Spends Not All Based on Your Total Spending $2500... sweat.gif

the Cash Rebate is On Tiers Based Like ie,
If the Cardmember's Monthly Total Spend falls under Tier 3, the Rebate on Shell Fuel Spend earned by the Principal Cardmember will be 8.0% of the Monthly Total Spend on Shell Fuel subject to the Maximum Shell Fuel Spend to Earn Rebates of RM800 only.

Tier Monthly:Total Spend (Shell Fuel Spend + Non Shell Fuel Spend) : Rebate on Shell Fuel Spend : Maximum Shell Fuel Spend to Earn Rebates

Sis, the members here are so lucky to have you advising and teaching them a thing or two thumbup.gif

to add to the above, below is what gerradling posted at the Petrol Thread.

QUOTE
Citibank Shell credit Card - thanks to gerrardling see post #144 (in petrol thread)

Basically you have to spend retail to get your higher rebate on your fuel purchases.
RM250 x 4% = RM10 rebate per month
RM500 x 6% = RM30 rebate per month
RM800 x 8% = RM64 rebate per month

Basically, you should get the card based on the petrol pumped per pump at Shell....
Only at RM800 per month would you get RM64, more than other cash-back CC (RM50 for OCBC Titanium/Maybankard2 AMEX)

To qualify for Tier 1, you need to spend RM50 per month + RM250 Shell fuel to get RM10 back... which is nett 3.33% Cash Back
To qualify for Tier 2, you need to spend RM500 per month + RM500 Shell fuel to get RM30 back... which is nett 3.00% Cash Back
To qualify for Tier 3, you need to spend RM1700 per month + RM800 Shell fuel to get RM64 back... which is nett 2.56% Cash Back

Ctibank Shell card rebate keep decreasing if u spend more because there are no rebates for other spending except for Shell fuel. The actual rebate is certainly less than 4%

To ALL:

It's now 2am in the morning and I am still unable to sleep the last few days until way past 5am. Anyway, I just called HSBC Customer Service as I wanted to check why my Visa Signature annual fee have yet to be billed where as the RM50 GST is shown in my online account.

Well, the recorded voice message says they provide 24 hours telebanking - which is great. But heck, I have to choose so many option by keying in this and that to get to where I want. I was overjoyed when I hear the voice recorder finally said to press 0 to speak to a customer service officer. But after I press 0, I was told by their recorded voice message to call back during business hours!

HSBC is really bull shitting me! What 24 hours telebanking is HSBC talking about? I am pissed off big time. Not only that, I did not even get to speak to a real human being. I mean, it is common that most banks have human being late at night or early in the morning to attend to stolen/lost credit cards and nothing else; but, at least I get to speak to another fellow human being where they will advise me to call back.

Well, I am going to call back HSBC tomorrow and cancel my HSBC Visa Signature once and for all even if they had waived my annual fee. This is because I felt that there was no personal service whatsoever from HSBC. Plus their new system requiring us to key this and that really waste my resources, i.e. my mobile phone charges me every 30 seconds I'm on the line calling HSBC's new 1300 number.

So next year, you guys won't be seeing a HSBC credit card in my Malaysia credit card collection. And I won't miss it at all since I seldom use it.

Since I am posting, for those who missed My Credit Cards Collection as of January 2014, click here to read about my credit cards and debit cards and my bragging rights too.

You can use the points to offset GST or redeem cash voucher, eg: AEON, Parkson, Robinson, AEON Big etc.

I think telebanking means phone banking and not the CS is available 24/7. I think most banks in MY have cut 24/7 phone CS. AFAIK only MBB still have this.

If you press the lost cards option, I'm sure you will speak to someone but if you're not calling about lost cards, they will decline to help you.

I think it should be 24x7, especially if it is an international 1300/1800 number. If I'm purchasing something online or I'm overseas, the full CS support must be there, even if they are in different time zone.

what do you mean by international 1300/1800 number? 1300/1800 numbers are for domestic calls within a country.

What I mean is, in today's world, I can be anywhere in the world, whether physically or not, or if I'm awake/check-out/purchasing at different time zones.
If I need the CS help, it better be there, otherwise don't advertise 24-hours support or 1 hour replacement or whatever.

i recently got my uob one card, used it to pay thru paypal for a purchase of RM1K then called CS a week later to change it into instalment plan for 12 months. they say the result will be out by 3 working days but I cant wait as my bill cycle is around the corner and if the do not let me change it into instalment plan I better plan to pay in full. I didn't know tht changing into 12 months was subject to management approval...though so, before the bill cycle I have already paid up a few hundred up front...any advise if the bank will reject my request? I just wanna get prepared. thanks

I agree to this. I too had problem trying to contact HSBC cs. After pressing so many things and dumb me I kinda mistook the pin and the telebanking no. In the end I was lock-out after finally got In touch with a human being on the line and He told me i had to do auto reset which means I have to call again and key in my ATM number on my card la, ic num la etc etc...Such a waste of time the CS hotline.
