QUOTE(jzack @ Nov 6 2013, 01:10 PM)
Hi,

I would like to apply for CC (my first time) and I don't know which one is the best.

Purpose :
- Make purchases for items such as kitchen appliences, electronic items/ device where each items are around 3k to make payments to be converted into installemnt around 6 month - 2 years max (is it possible?).
- will make purchase only once / twice a year unless got emergency.

Then I saw this : http://www.citibank.com.my/english/existin...members-epp.htm

1. Is it okay to apply for choice credit card (Citibank) and proceed with the easy pay method? Im interested on it because they mentioned that 0% on installment for selected vendors up to 2 years. If no, suggest me any.

2. What other costs / precautions i need to know when applying CC to avoid being cheated / fraud?

3. As for self-employed, how long will it takes to process the card?

4. If purchases has been made, the installment will have to be paid to the credit card according to the date of purchase isn't?

5. Is it possible to make early settlement?

6. About the GST, do I need to make payment upon application or upon approval or upon the first purchase?

Sorry for the noob question. It's my first time tho.
*
1) you have to make sure whether the merchant in which you would like to purchase your kitchen appliances and electronic items/devices from, were in the list of participating citibank epp merchants: http://www.citibank.com.my/english/docs/pd...rchant_list.pdf

2) you need to check whether there is any annual fees or how to waive the annual fees.

3) usually 2 weeks to 1 month (some only takes 1 hour or 1 day).

4) once purchase is made, you will need to pay the first installment within 20 days from your statement date.

5) yes, but need to inform the cs first.

6) gst will be charged to your first statement once your card is approved.

Citibank ready credit is a credit card type of installment?
*
citibank ready credit is a debit card (not credit card) on a revolving checking facility. other than the ability of a debit card to swipe it during your retail shopping or using it in online purchase, you are also able to do fund transfers, issue cheques, or withdraw cash through atm without incurring cash withdrawal fee (unlike credit cards).

I see because when I look through the form, it says " credit card " so I am curious.
*
no problem, for more information you may refer to this link: http://www.citibank.com.my/english/readycredit/index.html

QUOTE(jzack @ Nov 6 2013, 05:00 PM)
Thanks for the reply. And yes the merchant is on the list. Do you have any CC product that you would suggest?
*
i would suggest mbb2cards and ocbc titanium as the best combo cash back cc at the moment. however, ocbc titanium is no longer open for new registration (until further notice), so perhaps you may go for mbb2cards first. since you are more towards installment plans, there are many participating merchants with mbb too.

for more information about the mbb2cards here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2989298

Yes for sure need to use it wisely or else need to bear the high interest amount. By the way, do they look on your CCRIS record?
*
yes, i suppose, since they have a minimum income requirement of rm24k/annum, as well as required documents such as epf/salary slips/be form/bank statements/ea form. and most importantly, this product is under citibank's overdraft & loans section.

oops, and this reminds me that we are off-topic from this thread discussing about credit card. laugh.gif

is your housing loan late payment happened only in a particular month in the past? or it is a long-term problem which still has not yet settled?

yeah, i mean key in the credit card number and it will detect whether your card is visa before the discount will appear. i think it should be like this just like the agoda promo with maybank. smile.gif

guys,
currently i am having maybank2card with me (AMEX & MasterCard)
and then recently CIMB offered me with CIMB Petronas Platinum Mastercard.

should i keep Maybank mastercard?
or use CIMB petronas platinum mastercard?
which one is better?
*
if you already signed up that cimb petronas platinum mastercard, use it instead of maybank mastercard.
at least the benefits/features in that cimb mc is better than the mbb mc.

check the benefit list below
0% easypay is not included in the cimb petronas

*
0% epp should be a feature for all cimb credit cards.

**if you have further question regarding this, you may just post on the other thread (cimb cc thread).

hi, just wanna ask, if bank calls up and ask if interested to signup for their credit card, and unfortunately said yes, is it considered as a proper Credit Card application? My wife received the credit card already, but not activated. It is not her intention to get the card though. Is it possible to cancel it? Not long after receiving the credit card, the bill of RM50 reached. How to cancel it and not paying that RM 50? It is from CIMB.
*
did your wife went through a voice recording with them for the application?

just call the bcs and fill in the cimb cc termination form and fax/email to the cs. tell them that you were not aware about this cc application stating that you were busy and not fully understand about the product (cc). smile.gif

M looking for credit cards (Master & Visa) tat offer cash rebate oni instead of points
Mind to share which Bank?
Thanks
*
almost all banks have at least one of their cc type which is offering cash rebate system.
so it's hard for us to recommend something that is too general.
maybe you can go for the easy, straight forward, uncomplicated, clear cut one like ocbc titanium (mastercard) which offers 1% unlimited rebate on everything you spend.

Oh really? Just curious how to get cash by using cc only. Do we need to apply or activate anything before doing that?
*
the easiest way to get cash using cc is to wait at petrol stations. then, when you see someone going to pay cash (for petrol) to the cashier, you paid with your cc on behalf and get the cash from him/her. brows.gif

*
but pay for shopping usually always got cents at the back. very hard to change the balance... biggrin.gif
petrol usually rm30/rm50/etc = round figure... brows.gif

Hi guys...is it compulsory to provide income tax form in applying credit card? I run my own business almost 3 years..but I do not register with lhdn yet...
*
you should register with lhdn to avoid problem later on:
http://www.hasil.gov.my/pdf/pdfam/FAQ_B_EN..._11042011_1.pdf

Q29: I run a small business and I do not keep any business records. The
Profit and Loss Account is based on estimates. How am I going to
submit my tax return? Will my estimated income statement be
accepted by IRBM? Will I be penalised for not keeping complete
records?

A29: You can refer to Helaian Kerja HK-1(Working Paper) in the Guide Book
which can be downloaded from www.hasil.org.my. This working sheet
guides you on how the Adjusted Income is to be calculated. Whether the 7
Profit and Loss statement submitted by you can be accepted depends on
the Tax Audit that may be carried out by our officers. In view of this, you
are advised to keep full and proper records to avoid being penalised as
provided for under Section 82 and 82A of the ITA 1967. Failure to comply
is an offence punishable by a fine of not less than RM300 and not
exceeding RM10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months
or both. Please refer to the Public Ruling 5/2000 (Amended) dated
30/06/2001. You can view it at www.hasil.gov.my.

hi,

just one question, if i purchase an item rm2000 using cc, then i pay it like installment, rm500 per month. How much would the (real) cost of the item will be?

I'm about to apply credit card, wanna know the concept 1st, all info here is too technical, thus im giving a situation based explanation here. Anybody care to help? ='(
*
you can opt for 0% installment when paying for an item at merchants like tesco/harvey norman/courts/etc.
so let's say your item cost rm2,000 and the 0% installment is for 12 months.
then you just need to pay rm166.67 monthly.

however, if you purchase an item without the 0% installment at rm1,200 and pay installment at rm500 per month yourself, you will have to incur monthly interest on your cc.

are you sure you mean quit rent (cukai tanah)? not assessment (cukai pintu)?
