lol I still think it is insane to buy at such mad markup prices for 1.5, what if the homebrew scene dies later on? Sony is releasing firmware upgrades so often and with improvements every now and then, not to mention that all new games will require latest firmware to run.

Gee, I would be kicking myself for paying RM 500 more than what I did if there is no firmware emulation for games that require version 3.0 later on.

price i brought = RM 600 4 2.50. 2.50 can play homebrew and browser (thou' not very useful), 2.60 *NOT* yet. no point paying more for 1.50 (older umd loading machanism...no no) unless u want the jap sharp LCD which is brilliant. (hard to find if not impossible)

get 2.5 value pack bang for ur money. GTA LCS for RM 120 inc P&P. u should be able to play homebrew and (possibly) iso games when umdhook/run released for 2.50 (donno when, keep an eye on psphacks forums/community)

i myself own 1.50 cera jap (sharp lcd) x 1, 2.50 US black r1 x 1. couples of 2GB ms ori (sony dealer i sell ori), 2 x non-ori 2GB so far no prob and 2 x 1GB sandisk <-- better cheaper faster than sony.

are you from kuching? That is exactly the price here. I bought my value pack for rm870 three months ago together with SF: Dark Mirror (170) + GTA: LTS (220). If I would have bought all these in KL, I would be able to save myself around rm150 to rm200+...

Anyway, you sure you wanna get the 1.5? Damn expensive man... and you will be missed out a lot of things. If you can afford a 1.5 sure you can afford ori lah. Not to mention you have to buy another memory stick as well. Mem stick is not cheap ya know... If can buy at KL there.

it means what firmware is the psp running on. 2.6, 27 cannot play homebrew (applications coded at home). 1.5 can run homebrew and ISO loader to run custom applications (other console emulators etc etc) and pirated software. Newer games will require latest firmware to play. Sony is always releasing updates every few months. As of now, no hacker has managed to crack firmware 2.5, 2.7 or 2.71 (latest). There was an exploit for firmware 2.6 on GTA LCS but now the latest releases of GTA has been patched.

The new and upcoming psp games are very enticing to say the least. Final Fantasy Crisis Core, Metal Gear Solid PO, Gran Turismo Portable, Loco Roco, GTA VCS...

What do u want? Play the latest psp game or run 10-20 year old NES games and old psp games?

IINM Ver 1.5 PSP (Value Pack) is about RM 1200. It's hard to find ver 2.0 PSP (most of the shops already downgraded them to ver 1.5).

The latest version is ver 2.6. Value pack for ver 2.6 are selling for around RM 750 (some forumer here claim can get as low as RM 700).

Some people will buy ver 1.5 PSP to play illegal games. But for me, rather than paying extra RM 500 to the shopkeeper, I'll buy PSP ver 2.6 and I can use that extra RM 500 to buy 3 games or 2 game + 1 GB memory stick.

No matter which version you choose, you can play any game as the games are region free. But there are region restriction on UMD Movie. Japanese PSP (Region 2), can only play Japanese UMD Movie (Region 2).

Hold your horses first... from my information, all stocked 2.5 and 2.6 PSP (including mine) are using TA-082 motherboard which means that you CANNOT downgrade it.

So... we are still out from 1.5....

but you need to check ur PSP firmware 1st ..
don think that all the 2.6 or 2.5 can be downgrade, but PSP V2.5 after 2005/05 cannot be downgrade also ~!

Guys, would like to seek some advise from u.

My brother has this PSP firmware 1.5, 1000K Jap version of Value Pack. Everything is bundled together, strap, ear piece, volume controller & pouch except for 32MB memory stick. But this will be replaced with a 1GB MS duo. Mint condition as he bought it quite a long time ago and was left in the drawer. Assuming that there is no more warranty for this unit, how much could he sell it for?

Only drawback for this unit is that the volume button & mute button doesnt function anymore. Need to use the controller to adjust the volume. NFS:Underground Rival UMD disc will also be bundled in.
