why not to buy nex4..no sd slot which i dont care as 16gb is enough for me..even 8gb will serve me well..as i auto upload my photo to dropbox...i didnt listen to music using phone..i watch movie on my tab and laptop..i only play games to kill my time..play a casual games such as subway surfer and temple run...
2nd is camera..camera is performing so..so...if want better camera u can take lumia or pureview..me..i just need camera for a pictures..decent picture is enough..if i want a great picture..i have dslr which i shot a night landscape picture..
base on my usage why i didnt choose iphone?because iphone is boring for me..as i need a widget on my homescreen and as far as i know..iphone u cant add widget..so i settle for nexus devices...
last is the design..which i find it very2 subjective...btw the money is yours...go buy the devices use your hard earn money and be happy with it...even i buy my old dhd for 2.3k..i still happy with my previous dhd..and i did miss the ui of sense..some of it is useful such as t9 dialer (i cant find a good t9 dialer in gplay yet)..the appdrawer sort design..the fb and contact sync..the gallery and etc...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « - Turn on the device now to test it! Best if you have a micro-sim ready to test out calls. A few things to note when testing are:
- Check the device's IMEI (see the sticker at the back of the phone) and compare it with the box. By right it should match. Alternatively, dial *#06# to check.
- Check the screen for dead pixels, turn on maximum brightness and see if there are any dead pixels.
- Try to make a call and listen on the phone speaker clearly. There should not be any buzz-ling sounds (apart from bad signal receptions etc)
- Try to snap photos with your camera.
- Check your accelerometer and ensure that it's working fine (Easiest way to test is to enable Auto Rotate Screen and launch an application, such as Camera. It should rotate according to how you rotate your phone. There are rare hardware defects where the accelerometer are Dead on Arrival)
- Check and ensure the set you receive is local original set instead of overseas original set (if you're purchasing from shops etc). LG Malaysia will only accept local sets for servicing purpose. Currently the only known way to identify local / oversea set is via the Warranty Card included in the box; local sets will have "LG Malaysia" written on it.
Basically these are just a basic guideline for you to use when you first purchase your device. If you have any suggestions or ideas, feel free to PM me or reply me!

B. PURCHASING RELATED QUESTIONS (AFTER)- B1. What about warranty for this phone? How long? By who? Need to register?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The warranty are different depending on which set you purchase: For local sets, it is directly under LG Malaysia's warranty, register your warranty here after you purchase it by creating a LG account and fill in the details. All LG Nexus 4 will have 1-year warranty; except some SenHeng member purchases will have 2 years (1 year under LG, 1 year under Senheng). For US Playstore Sets, the currently known warranty is to send it back to US to claim for warranty. High chances are LG Malaysia will not accept non-local sets for servicing. Additional note (thanks to cjlai): According to one of the forummer here, he bought the Nexus 4 from US Play Store and is able to register the device under LG Malaysia's website. However, it is still unclear that whether if LG will accept International Sets for servicing & repairing without charges (under warranty). NOTE: It doesn't matter whether if it's a local or overseas (AP) set; both are manufactured and servicing will be directly under them - LG. Do not mix up with the term 'SME' as it stands for 'SAMSUNG MALAYSIA ELECTRONICS'; which is a term used to refer to Local Sets for Samsung Devices (in NO relation with our LG Nexus 4)

 . How much will it cost to repair for local / US sets?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « As screen cracking are not within the warranty's coverage, both local and US sets will be charged by LG Malaysia (at Kelana Jaya Service Centre or other branches, call them up to check) for screen replacements, according to most forummers here whom had repaired their cracked screen. Front-Screen Replacement: RM350 Back-Glass Replacement: RM180 Non-local sets will be charged an extra of RM30 (confirmed for front-screen by damned_dude, need confirmation for back-glass)Also, they will usually replace it on-the-spot for you (takes around 15 ~ 30 minutes) if they have ready-stocks for changing parts. You might want to give them a call before paying them a visit to save time!
- B4. There's other defects with my phone (battery, power button, etc.), how much does it cost?

This question is really subjective and it all boils down on how you use and configure your device. However you can get a brief idea by looking at other member's battery life. As many members have posted many times, it's best if you can search it yourself using the search function within the thread.
Search for the keyword "battery life" and make sure you search the previous threads as well because there are posts about battery life in previous threads, too.

- C2. Why some other members have received latest version update but I have not received it yet?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Firstly, make sure that you are eligible for OTA update (see previous question regarding OTA / Official updates). If you're eligible and have yet received any OTA update notifications but some other members have already received it, do not worry. This is mainly because Google rolls out update by batches instead of all at once; which presumably that they chooses this method to prevent the server from overloading during the release of the new version.
You may try the steps below if you're impatient and hopes to receive update faster:
For those on stock ROM and have yet receive OTA notification, try these steps: Go to Settings > Apps > All Apps > Google Framework Services > Force Stop > Disable > Clear Data > Enable > Go back to settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check now > 4.2.2 is available! (credits to stormlcc).
- C3. Can I still receive OTA / Official updates from Google if I root / unlock / flash kernel / ROM / etc?

And yes, it's unlocked, rooted, stock rom, stock kernel. So it's confirmed to be a myth for those that says "rooted" or "unlocked" couldn't receive OTA Just to add on, you'll most likely lose your root access after installing the OTA. So make sure you leave your bootloader unlocked (if you do not have custom recovery installed) and re-flash the root after updating. Alternatively you may try OTA Rootkeeper (thanks ronaldlim91) and see if it's able to retain your root access after an OTA. It keep trying to retrieve MMS all the time. Solution 1: Simplest way factory reset. If don't want to factory reset can try solution 2. Solution 2: Reconfigure the setting from here: http://tipsshack.blogspot.jp/2011/12/digi-...s-settings.html (if you are using digi or find others telco configuration), and then try to send a dummy MMS to yourself. After that you may see a toast "message expired or not available". Then reboot your device and try again. For me, messaging apps is no more keep awake. Solution 3: go to messaging apps, setting, disable auto retrieve MMS (this is temporary method) (posted by nightwalkertzs)

Use these directories to store your music / ringtone of your choice:-
/sdcard/Alarms to be used by any "Alarm" applications.
/sdcard/Ringtones to be used by calling "Ringtones".
/sdcard/Notifications for any other notifications (e.g. messaging, whatsapp, facebook, etc.)
To change your alarm, head over to Clock > Alarms > click on any existing / create new alarm > change the alarm tone.
To change your notifications or ringtones, head over to Settings > Sounds > Phone Ringtone / Default Notification sound; alternatively you can head over to your application and set the custom notification specific to the application.
Note: If the audio that you transferred to respective directory (e.g. Notifications) does not shows up in the respective category of audio selection (e.g. selecting notification tones), try rebooting your device and check again.

After that go to settings>apps>all>Settings. Open it then force stop. 5. Lastly open Settings app to check it. Voila! developer options re-hide again! (posted by phadly)

I'm not sure which of this had worked but feel free to try them all! As I've tried all of the said method before it finally worked (after I left it there for like 1 or 2 days, without doing anything).
1. Changing Credit Card address to US
2. Changing Google Accounts setting (https://www.google.com/settings/account) to US (click the "Edit" button next to EMAIL)
3. Installing Market Access on your Android Device and emulate T-Mobile [US]
4. Using DroidVPN (combined with Market Access), clear Play Store Cache + Data, and re-launch it
5. Using HotSpotShield on PC and try to browse the play store (without cache)
Basically these are what I have done and even I myself are not sure which had helped me. But if my guesses are correct, it's the US billing address + Market Access that helped.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Without getting into too many technicalities, the bootloader is essentially the program that gets loaded first when starting your device, and it is responsible for booting the Android kernel. Think of the bootloader as the BIOS of a computer.
- A2. What does it mean if my bootloader is locked/unlocked?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Most (if not all) devices are shipped from the manufacturer with locked bootloaders. This is for security reasons. A locked bootloader does not allow easy flashing of images, which means that it is difficult to change or modify the operating system. Unlocking a bootloader (using fastboot) on most Nexus devices results in a complete loss of all personal data from the device. Having a locked or unlocked bootloader has no bearing on the functioning of the device. Unlocking it gives you more options to play around with the OS. Additionally, an unlocked bootloader means that you can easily root your device no matter what -- unlike most non-Nexus devices, if you lose root, it is trivial to get it back.
- A3. What is “root”?

It is similar to being “administrator” on a Windows PC. It has nothing to do with your device or the bootloader, it has to do with the Android OS (i.e., you cannot “root” your device – you root the Andoid build that you are running). To have root, you need to be booted into the Android OS that you have rooted. If you are in fastboot mode, root is irrelevant. In order to perform root, you will most likely have to unlock your bootloader first (see above)
- A4. What is "recovery"?

It should return a line and show you whether if yours are SLOW, NOMINAL, FAST or FASTER. If it does not return these values, try rebooting your device and try again. - B5. I have seem some ROMs or Kernels offering Krait Optimization or Bionic Optimisation. What are these?

With both optimized, you see a jump from 17k Antutu score to 21k, around 30% improvement at the same CPU speed.

But be wary that some powerbank actually output more than 5V in order to make it seemed like charging faster. Probably around 5.1V or 5.2V, now that would really hurts your phone. |

wow...nice thread^^ thanks ya polar bro^^.. btw anyone have any issue after 4.3 updated?? I have a issue about keep awake in Messaging apps. It was keep awake all the times in my battery usage. If my device up time was 12 hours, then Messaging apps may keep awake for 12 hours eventhough i didnnt use it...i already mentioned this bugs on google issue tracker. Any one have same issue?? before this I got the internal storage error showing I got 8gb on my Nexus 16gb after I rooted 4.3 with SuperSU 1.43, I've tried the clear cache method, factory reset method on recovery but not successful
but I managed to restored back to normal storage after I formatted data on recovery, so now I got back my 16gb storage yeay!

MX player and instagram is one of this reason. MX player will rolling out update soon. So no worry about this. And i didnt face any google map issue, very fast and responsive. and camera had been improved. In 4.3, the touch sensitivity already improved and enhanced openGL performance for better gaming experience^^. I use 4.3 4th day since it launch already. So far so good, just 1 problem is the problem i mentioned for Messaging apps and unstable supersu build. So for me in summary: 1. pros: - user friendly camera wheel - camera focus had been improved (in 4.2.2 camera focus is so so bad), now it is much better^^ - touch sensitivity is good - better gaming experience (this maybe i think too much because before that already very pretty on playing games ) - battery life i am sure not become poorer..i used until now, it is around same as 4.2.2. After updating to 4.3, my Foursquare,hangouts and maps cannot be updated,it says "update for maps could not be downloaded due to an error."

I am still in 4.2.2, already got notification to update but will only update after finish this trip.
4.3 now automatically do trim and improve performance of your phone when idle:
- the device hasn’t been touched for over an hour
- no idle maintenance window event has been sent in 24 hours
- the device is either off-charger with 80% battery or on-charger with 30% battery.
The idle maintenance event is interesting. May be cab automate other stuff.

No fun, my nexus just died of Red light of death. Now charging, hopefully will come back alive tmr. (Went off suddenly with 80+- power, in the middle of call, not rooted).
Plugged in power cable, at first blinking red light (red, dark, red dark in rapid motion), now just flashing (strong red, weak red, strong red, weak red in calmer pace).

I've updated my N4 using the 'check-in' method, phone is non-rooted and hacked. After updating, I notice a few of my apps are missing, some of my apps don't work properly anymore. Such as Instagram, ZArchiver. and 9gag. Maybe should wait for developer to adjust a few things abit?

Hi polarzbearz bro, I found a solution for "Messaging apps keep awake bugs", based on Here if anyone had same issue with this, can try this out: Reason: not android OS problem, is telco carrier mms setting messed up. It keep trying to retrieve MMS all the time. Solution 1: Simplest way factory reset. If don't want to factory reset can try solution 2. Solution 2: Reconfigure the setting from here: http://tipsshack.blogspot.jp/2011/12/digi-...s-settings.html (if you are using digi or find others telco configuration), and then try to send a dummy MMS to yourself. After that you may see a toast "message expired or not available". Then reboot your device and try again. For me, messaging apps is no more keep awake. It keep trying to retrieve MMS all the time. Solution 1: Simplest way factory reset. If don't want to factory reset can try solution 2. Solution 2: Reconfigure the setting from here: http://tipsshack.blogspot.jp/2011/12/digi-...s-settings.html (if you are using digi or find others telco configuration), and then try to send a dummy MMS to yourself. After that you may see a toast "message expired or not available". Then reboot your device and try again. For me, messaging apps is no more keep awake. For SMS, backup with SMS Backup & Restore. One day already on 4.3, no problem so far, no unnecessary battery drain, Instagram works just fine nor FC (infact uploaded a few photos last night and browsing), no lag. What other problems you guys facing, I'll test on my unit too.

I'm facing 2 times reboot after upgrading to 4.3 since last Friday.. Facing this issues after did factory reset to my nexus.. Too weird because i received notification (cannot remember which apps) than wake my phone at lock screen it's hang then reboot.. Battery drain improve from 4.2.2..

Just updated to 4.3. But when I restart after installing, I didn't connect to the internet and it shows me "cant download now, try again later" message every time when I restart my phone. I don't really get this message cz I dy get 4.3 in my nexus 4. Anybody can help?

hey guys, checking in for however long and still rocking my nexus 4 after the 4.3 update really improved the battery life by quite abit for me. but however once in a while i'd just clear up the smudges on the back glass and just stare & admire the beauty that is that nexus 4 sexy back. still running it naked tho, nothing except SP for back glass how's everyone with their n4? |

Guys.. google services in my phone eat up 500+ mb for my dataplan in 1 hour without noticeable.. guess is due to 4.3 OTA update.. but currently running CM10.1.0 4.2.2 JB.. tried suggested solution from XDA Link to update playstore manually but still cannot solve.. currently turn off mobile data to avoid this.. |

Been using the phone very frequent to surf and call etc.. Worry the battery will die very soon. My previous Samsung battery died just before 1 year and it was replaceable. This non removable battery really makes me worry.

guys what is this media wakelock? Its draining my battery very badly. I restart my phone countless times, wipe data/cache but the problem still exist. it just happen suddenly only and now no matter what i do it wont go away.

hello,
Currently i'm using rooted nexus 4 with stock rom and kernel. I use carbon tweak to well, you know. I try to install bravia engine from the apps. After finishing downloading the BE, my phone will reboot into recovery and ask to flash or not.
My question is, should i flash it or just choose NO (during recovery) instead?

hi guys, i have a nexus 4 with some problems as below
1. Takes very long to boot, i think 1 min or 1 min +
2. No Signal, no Imei , baseband unknown. (running on 4.2.2)
things i tried.
1. Flash factory image (4.3), bootloop
2. Downgrade back to 4.2.2, can boot but problem remains.
3. Flash older radio/baseband, problem remain.
Any other things i can try before i send it for RMA?

after i update my CM10.1.1 to 10.1.2 i cant connect to play store it prompt no connection..i have removed my google account and it seems that i cannot add it back my account because when i click google account nothing happen..i also found that when i want to open google apps such as g+ it prompt apps isn't install....so do i need to remove all my gapps and install it back?

Help guys, can u tell me what is the best app for lock and unlocking your screen, cause my power button is kinda broken ( i have to press it hard). I want to send it to service centre but im in Tganu right now. So i want to use my nexus 4 without frustation since i will only go the centre in 2-3 months time. Touch control dont support 4.3 kernel for the time being right? so any other apps??

That was with 4.2.2. Will try benchmark 4.3 after I finish tweaking it. Right now, only undervolting at around -175 and overclock to 1.8ghz. Got a feeling 4.3 will be a little better due to more efficient merge and arrange rendering.

Finally, couldn't really resist the 'lust' from 4.3. Flashed everything and started clean with rasbeanjelly jss. Smooth and no hiccup at all. Flashed the radio too and let's see how's the battery now.

Anybody know how to solve the Error 497 when downloading any apps or updating in Google Play Store? Everything works fine yesterday but when I tried to update my Intsragram this morning, it gave me this error.
I tried to force stop and clear data from Google Play Store but it doesn't work.

This phone that i have previously shown with proud to people is now failing me so much and it has become so disappointing, besides the touch screen became so weak in responsiveness, and slow in typing, the camera failed so bad when i tried to take a photo, it can launch, but it will never take a photo no matter how many times i have pressed the blue button.
sometimes people just need a reliable out of the box working phone - i was a strong preacher of Android and it makes me feel awfully ashamed of what i have said before..

Well my phone jus died. Left to charge las nite...in the mornin totally flat line...no responce wat so ever, even tried those 20' & 60'second power button reset. Not responding to even plug in to the pc.

Unfortunately the front screen is cracked which I need to repair it. Besides LG may I ask is there anywhere I can repair it? Couldn't able to access the IMEI number so cant register at LG webpage, lol

I have flashed stock ROM 4.3,this is my first time using stock android for nexus 4 as when I just bought,I straight away flash to PA ROM,never expect that stock ROM is so smooth and stable,also bug free,the reason I switched to stock ROM is because I can't update to latest PA 4.3 no matter what method I tried,there are sure something that's not functional,like the home button,pie,or even halo,after experiencing the smoothness of stock ROM,I decided to stay with it

Currently I'm using Paranoid Android 3.94. 3.4.0 franco kernel.
I want to change into pacman rom.
1. Will my data such as photos, musics will be wiped out after flashing new rom?
2. should i do something with the kernel first before flashing pacman rom? if yes, what is it?

But wiping the data in CWM will NOT wipe your internal /sdcard directory, so all your photos, musics etc will be intact, but apps will be gone. You can use titanium backup to backup them. 2. no need, usually flashing a ROM will flash the kernel that comes with it as well. Just make sure that after you flash Pacman ROM, only use suitable kernel (JWR or JSS depends on pacman ROM is which one) |

cause my office at kapar i'm getting 14-15mb download which is damn strange... ( not just once and 1 day... been testing almost everyday now )

Will compare price once they give me the quotation tomorrow so far 3-4 repair shops i went all of them quote me around 750-820.. lastly just go to LG kelana jaya. fast and cheaper. |

I've flash franco kernel r174. I wonder why the colour setting profile doesnt work. I used trickster mod and franco updater to change my colour profile. both doesn't works . any one experience this?

would like to ask who is digi user.
since i change to nexus 4, i never see my phone with 3G signal when enable data, always 'H' only.
do i need to change any setting to get the 3G signal?
