just try not to look at the numbers :/ i think by the time it's low enough you already have a new drive.

this is one of the disadvantages of smaller drives, and it also depends on how you set the system up. if you can, use ram-based caching enhancements with deferred writes turned on.

Hello, looking for opinions as to whether i should purchase:

- 512GB Crucial MX100
- 500GB Samsung 840 EVO

Both are sold at the same price. Please provide some good reasons if possible.

Thanks.

how much is the shipping cost? if you think the total price can help you save, then it's a good deal.

still, you should think of warranty also.

imo both are decent. between the two, i choose mx100 because it has mlc nand flash. i have primocache license for ram-caching. maybe someone else can give you a better good reason.

I can still remember my dad's face when i upgraded his i3 laptop. I think he wanted to hug me lol!

I wanted to give him a i7 laptop with a larger ssd, but he told me that i3 was good enough, and a small drive is fine. So i just replaced the old hdd with a ssd (ocz vertex 3 120gb) and bumped the ram to 8gb (2gb ramdisk).

No more complaints since then.

idk if this is the right place to ask but here goes.

im planning to add an SSD into my workstation. (mainly for adobe illustrator and photoshop)
will there be bottleneck issues if I reinstall everything (my softwares) into the SSD but leaving the OS in my current HDD?

too lazy to install the OS again.

hmm.gif Now this one have to ask Samsung sifu the method to check the firmware upon booting the SSD, then flash if the firmware is not updated.

If you setup the workspace all into the SSD, then it should be fast, not sure if pagefile will affect the speed or not. hmm.gif
If you don't wish to re-install the OS, there's migrating tools to help you move from HDD to SSD. wink.gif
