WHo would have thought Kcng will end up with a Proton?   rclxm9.gif satria neo is a great car  thumbup.gif a true class   notworthy.gif
*
it was a toss-up between the 8th gen civic and neo really...

civic - 5 years loan
neo - 2 years loan
and to help me finalize, i test drive both cars on the same route and neo appeal to me more...

true the 2.0 ivtec is very deadly on open road but it is hard to handle cuz it feel bulky going into corners.... i just dont feel comfortable pressing the gas more in corners....
where as the neo perform ok on open road but the handling really rox, i still can accelerate in corners...

and because i am also an advocate of shortest loan possible, neo is my choice and maybe in the future if i can afford to pay off the civic in less then 5 years, i might change...

until then i wan to enjoy my neo which is so far so good, no issues...
just that the cabin is not as quiet as civic only

Hi im very interested in the savvy but for savvy buyers have u encountered any engine problems so far? I've heard that since it's a renault engine it may heat up here in malaysia since it;s hot here.

Also i can't seem to decide on the 2006 and 2007 version? 2007 version seems better without the V at the back and also has ABS and airbag. Hmmm. but it's more expensive.

Also is ti true that the manual version saves more petrol compared to the AMT verison?

There is slightly more delay for AMT to engage a gear vs a seasoned manual driver. So manual FC should be only slightly better, but not far apart I guess.

All oso ppl claim "they heard", or "oh, my friend told me".
But I've driven 3 protons..all no problem.. no breakdowns, no overheating, no crap..I guess if you take good care of the engine then its alright. You dont see savvy breaking down by the roadside often do you? biggrin.gif

The trick to european Engine is...Use 100% coolant..dont skimp on the coolant and go for water.. it could result in lower heat tolerance.

I would say go for the 2007 model.. its nicer, and has more safety features..dont you think your life is worth more than a couple of thousand ringgit in event of an accident (touch wood).

they said that AMT model is more fuel saving .
for the renault enigne , i am quite sure until now not heard of over heating in savvy yet . normally renault car over heat becasue it is not build in local to meet local environment , but savvy is an in house design and car ... so ...

if it's the engine that you are trying to imply, that means all continental cars will face overheating problems. inclusive of BMW, Renault, Fiat, Merc, etc.

like what m|ng meant, don't skimp on coolant. heck, don't skimp on maintenance at all. send it to PESC regularly for each service and even after warranty period.

you'll never know what kind of shit those ah-bang, ah-seng workshop put into your car.

One question. Can we fit the CamPRo 1.3 into the Savvy?
This thought came to me a few minutes ago. With 20 extra hp and considerably more torque at lower revs, why didn't they put the CamPro in the first place?
Not to flame, just a curiosity of mine.

yes, you can add 20bhp or more, but you'll also be adding more weight.
loosing a kilo or more matters, rather than adding hp's.
it'll turn better, go better, lighter (on fuel & total weight)

But even with 50 kilos extra(which I doubt it will add that much) the power to weight ratio would still far exceeds the Renault engined Savvy.
78 vs 94hp/ton. Plus better torque for fuel efficiency.

good point.
but thing is, they already have the 1.3 gen 2, iswara, wira etc.
and it's not the weight of the engine alone you've to count lah. the brakes hafta be up to it, probably with bigger discs, calipers,etc..the suspensions hafta be beefed up.. and the chassis as well must be able to take that extra power & weight.

you don't increase power alone without proper fortification. plus, more complexity involved means it'll be expensive to make. beats the point in the 1st place.

but if i got spare cash in a few years or so, i'm planning to get me one (savy), put bigger, probably turbocharged 1.3 engine, and do like i stated above. shud be a fun car. flex.gif

nobody does that yet, aside frm bashing it.

Well i quite doubt the 1.3 campro can be fitted into the savvy. It was the original idea proton wanted to put the 1.3 campro engine into the savvy but the engine compartment was too small, that is why they sourcing out renault engines, which is actually good consider this gaves us the oppurtunity to have economical european engine and AMT transmission here.

On the other note, the new iswara replacement model will based from the sedan version of the savvy platform and will use campro 1.3 instead.
