But you can't beat Japanese car reliability still, and that buys customers' heart.

QUOTE the waja has I-have-nothing-not-even-DOHC SOHC. I think the Waja Campro is DOHC (DOHC that appeared in 1980s that is). |

So, Savvy have these keywords associated for safety:
1. Godly handling 2. Godly suspension 3. Godly tough chasis Compare to the safety keywords other (eg Vios) cars have: 1. ABS 2. EBD 3. SRS (Dual) Air-bags. 4. Retention seat belts 5. Crumple zone 6. GOA |

QUOTE it appears that the gear knob is infact plastic coated in metalic paint which comes off after some time of use. This is one of the reason I fear of buying Proton, cheap plastic everywhere eventhough Gen2 Hi-line/Neo seems like a sweet deal. |

Cars recently use a lot of hard plastic.
The problem with Proton using hard plastic is that it feels more cheap skate. Even with Satria Neo, the feel is still there. This post has been edited by dstl1128: Jul 25 2006, 11:31 AM |

Come to think of it, the Campro definitely needs AMT to perform better otherwise it is so unresponsive.
QUOTE Look at new Civic..full of hard plastics also...even the most exp cars use the same materials beneath the nice misleading touch ups and finishings.. Yep, cars now uses hard plastic. But unlike Proton they have it touch up, while Proton leave it bare naked... that's the problem. |

QUOTE(Kampung2005 @ Aug 14 2006, 05:19 PM) well, today my friend got his savvy, he was satisfied with it, according to him, it is less fuel consuming than iswara, is it true? You must remember for clumsy-foot driver, carburator consume a lot of fuel.I think hypermount too happy with using Savvy overtake Civic'06. Remember Savvy has lighter body and would be anytime zippier than Civic'06. I also expect Ferrari loose to you as the Ferrari driver can't afford to trash his car. Just take your Savvy touge with another Savvy on downhill more fair like that. If you pass him, that means his Savvy have lousier setups or defects?! |

Be ready to use the 'O/D off' button on slop when you are between 60kmph-80kmph for MyVi 1.3 AT. Now I wish Perodua should have include SuperECT for its AT.

QUOTE imagine 1 full tank rm450 You can't compare the price directly as countries have different buying power. £.98 per litre for them isn't that bad having that they earn on everage £2000 per month on the average. Considering that they could buy Savvy with around £6000~£7000, they don't even need bank loan to buy a new car. And in that price range, they got whole lot of other choices. In Malaysia, RM1.92 per litre for us, and average RM2000 per month. Savvy cost RM45k (I'm guessing), with years of loan. Remember the choices we could have in RM45k range. Now that's a big different. So the interior is black. Cool. What's the price for Savvy AMT right now (I can't find the price in the Proton website, not even in the PDF)? And when is the Hi Line (with ABS/EBD/BEBD) coming? QUOTE oh btw - those who got good FC with Myvi - care to tell us whether yours is 1.3A or 1.3M or 1.0M or what? MyVi 1.3 EZi: 35km +/- 5km distance daily: RM50 -> 360km~390km < 10km distance daily (very short trip): RM50 -> 260km~290km Avg city driving would be in the middle of these two settings. I haven't try going long distance trip > 100km. p/s: with rate RM1.92/L This post has been edited by dstl1128: Dec 7 2006, 11:58 AM |

QUOTE but i can do 5th gear at 40km/h+ or sometimes lower smoothly without any problems. RPM around 1.5K at around 40 and then increases accordingly to my velocity. I suppose a straight road condition. QUOTE Well my FC has stabilise now as i can get around 460~480 km with RM 50 of fuel. Very good. Just wanna ask, is this mostly in highway or city? I think this is the main selling point for Savvy, not 'build tougher'. Another thing Proton could improve its Savvy sales is to ensure 'cheaper parts cost' mindset for its Savvy's french engine/mechanical parts. QUOTE well i disagree this topic should be locked, but i do agree that the bashing stops here. Yep. It shouldn't be locked, but any bashes or anti-bashes should be deleted from now on. The word 'sux' and 'filmsy' and 'cheap plastic' and 'poor quality' appears too often. What we need here is the experience from Savvy owner, especially figure regarding FC, part costs, problems, and how to improve the rides. |

QUOTE y replace wira if it still have market? From here: Non-national vs national cars having a big shift. If Proton still haven't wake-up, by all means they can still sells their dated models and continue complain the parts' price increase causes them to nail a net loss. Wira and Saga/Iswara are still the same since the beginning of time. Even Kancil already improve a lot vs the 1st model. On the quality issue... by giving some hope, I was going to book a new Waja next month but having my friend's new Neo front-left door leaking water on the 2nd weekvery recently, I lost my hope and planning Honda or Toyota. :sigh: Glad they change Savvy's butt a little but, they should have improve more as well as the interior. And above all else, quality and reputation are still an issue for Proton. |

QUOTE My father's a crazy savvy driver, i just saw him using 4th gear around 23-25km/h this afternoon. No jerks no high rpms, everything's smooth. I tried 30km/h 4th gear on my KE70 before, no jerks and smooth. Nothing special here. |

I notice a cracked windscreen there, very dangerous, shouldn't have happen in such collision. This is bad safety.
QUOTE the whole chassis is engineered to have crumple , flexing and hard point aas they are , if you want to strengten it , do it properly . just like what R3 , they are using proper engineering to strenghtening the body . |

There is slightly more delay for AMT to engage a gear vs a seasoned manual driver. So manual FC should be only slightly better, but not far apart I guess.
