QUOTE(jVIPERs2 @ Jul 25 2007, 05:04 PM) It was a mistake. Proton's site a lot of mistake So better go to showroom/dealer. Never ever trust that site QUOTE(Matrix @ Jul 25 2007, 05:19 PM) I think you'll get bash very soon from hypermount and azuma, our local proton fanboyz.... Well..i'm not a fanboy. Just sometime hate the fact that some people dont want to admit something good from Proton. Also praise their favourite like ferrari also lost to them. That's all. I never say Perodua sux, Toyota sux, Honda sux.Anyway, I do believe the AMT is 5 speed...after all, it's just a ROBOT inside doing the clutching for ya. It's still very much a manual car. It's also written in the specs...try download their brochure. And lastly, i think Proton made a mistake in their website....website also no QC wan.... |

i just went to test drive proton savvy amt today.
the experience is lower than my expectation. although the ride and handling is stable but the engine power and transmission not smooth enough. it is like the car classic too heavy and hardly to push forward. gear switching not smooth even in semi-auto mode. 1 word = bad. perodua viva power is more smooth but riding experience quite bumpy. overall hyundai 1.4 getz is the best experience i had once i test drive savvy, viva, myvi and getz. this saturday will go for satria neo 1.6A test drive. hehe. |

QUOTE(crayonhuat @ Jul 25 2007, 06:38 PM) i just went to test drive proton savvy amt today. The gear switching depends on the driver. Noob AMT driver will make it rough. Engine power isn't really superb, but torque is there. Don't expect much from 1.2L performing like 2.0L. Besides the spaciousness and the 'feel' that MyVi wins, Savvy is quite good and flipping the 5spd AMT stick is easy.the experience is lower than my expectation. although the ride and handling is stable but the engine power and transmission not smooth enough. it is like the car classic too heavy and hardly to push forward. gear switching not smooth even in semi-auto mode. 1 word = bad. perodua viva power is more smooth but riding experience quite bumpy. overall hyundai 1.4 getz is the best experience i had once i test drive savvy, viva, myvi and getz. this saturday will go for satria neo 1.6A test drive. hehe. gear switching on the AMT is like a manual, you can't just accelerate and expect it to shift itself normally.
you know that jerky feeling when you accelerate while shifting gears on manual? it's the same as in AMT. engine power not enough? you gotta be kidding, i thought it was one of the most nippiest cars in the price range i've ever driven! This post has been edited by nerd: Jul 25 2007, 07:11 PM |

haha.
i'm driving "D" mode all the time durint the savvy AMT test drive. 3 person in the board, the power feel not smooth especially during 0-40km/h. i just play the manual switching gear for twice because i do not have any chance to bring the car out to highway. anyway, my opinion does not meant to offence savvy owner. as the post said, it is just the honest review for savvy. |

well putting the thing in 'D' doesn't make it an auto gearbox. you still have to time your gear releases in order for smooth gearshifts, I think.

yes you even need to release throttle a bit when you feel it's gonna shift gears in Auto/D mode. That's what AMT for.
It's not like conventional auto for VERY LAZY drivers where you can press the pedal whole way down..no need any input from teh driver. That is Boring. Didn't they give you some briefings before you venture out for the test drive? You gotta give it another chance...Firstimers to AMT is like newbie drivers who can't drive a Stick shift car... I LOL'ed at the Auto transmission fanboys in L&N, there was a thread about this. Call themselves enthusiasts hehe. Dun worry Crayonhuat, it wasn't personal and wasn;t directed to you. No wonder it didn't sell that good. Nobody seems to know how to drive one. Savvy is truly a driver's car |

QUOTE(hypermount @ Jul 25 2007, 10:43 PM) yes you even need to release throttle a bit when you feel it's gonna shift gears in Auto/D mode. That's what AMT for. Savvy is truly a driver's car Not everyone is familiar with how it works and in return will generate many negative comments towards the car... I think it'll be safer to have chosen a 5 speed CVT gearbox instead... However, that will make the Savvy less fun to drive and lose it's 'My 1st Lotus' tagline... |

haha. so sorry to see so many fire fighting replied.
at first i tot AMT is equal technology like shift-tonic offer by sonata, bmw and high performance car like porsche. even i drive sonata before, it won't have such jerk feeling either in "D" or semi-auto mode. anyway i'm still impress savvy offer this kind of technology with the RM40k+ price tag. i was impress its stablility and good suspection system. no bumpy feeling. may be i'm newbie for AMT so made i feel not smooth for the engine power delivered. if anyone never test drive hyundai getz 1.4, please try it. it is really a quiet, comfort and powerful car but a bit expensive.. |

sonata is basically still an Auto but the Ecu emulate the feeling of Manual during shift-tronic mode if i am not mistaken..... AMT is fully manual but there are robot controlling the clutch for u.....thats why u feel jerky feeling even when u are in D mode....u can lessen the jerkiness by slightly lifting off the accelerator pedal when u feel it is about to shift gears....hope u understand what i mean here

Yea erm don't we know most Malaysians will go for auto version, due to kiasuness (auto fetch better resale value) and laziness. I knew a girl working and living in central KL driving a manual saga 1.3, and she doesn't complain a bit.If i'm not mistaken. Can hypermount clarify this. QUOTE(crayonhuat @ Jul 25 2007, 11:54 PM) haha. so sorry to see so many fire fighting replied. I was so right. If you've been reading my post ages ago I DID say Getz has a Mercamrish-quality ride cos I've driven one ( test drove many cars already). Feels like floating in the air- that's one of the usual comments from ordinary people who took a ride in a Camry for example. It may better for them but not us the drivers.at first i tot AMT is equal technology like shift-tonic offer by sonata, bmw and high performance car like porsche. even i drive sonata before, it won't have such jerk feeling either in "D" or semi-auto mode. anyway i'm still impress savvy offer this kind of technology with the RM40k+ price tag. i was impress its stablility and good suspection system. no bumpy feeling. may be i'm newbie for AMT so made i feel not smooth for the engine power delivered. if anyone never test drive hyundai getz 1.4, please try it. it is really a quiet, comfort and powerful car but a bit expensive.. A sport car doesn't need that much soundproofing, you need noise, sound, or feel to get feedbacks from outside, you need to feel the bumps on the roads, what kind of surface your savvy is travelling on, wet, dry or sandy ...you risk of spoiling ur suspension if running too fast over speed bumps as you didn't feel anything or too quiet.... in this case of savvy, an apparent engine note or noise is needed to get the correct timing for gear shifts. The steering has good feedback too, not too light when tackling tight corners and on hi speed cruising. If you say Savvy has a good suspension even fitted with those bumpy low profiles 15'' tyres, it fares pretty good already (yes it can go over 160km/h with feel of all tyres firmly planted on the grounds apart from its well known excellent handling ability). Just a trivia...just found out satria neo only has -ve camber up to 1 degree on front wheels, back none..while savvy's rears are more apparent with 1.5 degree, front none. care to explain... "The only new engine, also the most interesting, is the 1.2 TCE (Turbo Control Efficiency) engine. It is based on the 1.2-litre 16V but added with a light-pressure turbocharger to produce 100 horsepower and 107 lbft of torque. A small overboost can take the output to 105hp and 111 lbft in case of need." http://www.autozine.org/html/Renault/Twingo_II.html |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jul 26 2007, 04:06 AM) bah, the site is nice but when i click GET IT NOW for Savvy Lite i'm led to that new car page. Buy savvy now! Offer ends this month for 3k discount! Proton's pricing sux. their cars are actually decent. I personally like the Waja, Neo and Savvy. I'm still thought about getting Savvy recently Anyway, i don't like the AMT...fake auto car...later got problems 3 years down the road...cry!! One less oddball technology=one less potential problem. Remember, the AMT robot box is still french ...means expensive in the event it kong!! I'm leaning more towards the Savvy now as i really dun like the Viva 3 cylinder engine....space is not an issue since 2nd car...only use it for going to work. Hypermount: Auto cars are not for lazy drivers. What fun is there is changing gears with cluth in a traffic jam!!! Auto cars are great, imo, if it isn't petrol sucking that is. If auto car can give same fc as manual, i think i'll take auto anyday, especially for city driving. |
