actually the celestion or whatever can be changed.
plus there are different celestions depending what sound you want.
whether you want it to break up early, extra clean sound etc.

the main obvious difference that will affect the sound is the ad30 is a 10" speaker, ad50 has 12".

Japanese.

Though I tried a MIM strat before. Sounded good to me...but i've never tried a japanese or us 1 before, so im in no position to judge. Probably has better quality.

Guess what I did to my AD50VT? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Anyone who has an AD30VT/AD50VT may have thought at one point in time that it was seriously lacking one particular important feature - an effects loop.

In the pictures above, see the two chrome jacks on top of the line out and speaker out? That's the FX loop I just added biggrin.gif The jack above the line out is FX Send and the jack above the speaker out is the FX Return. The FX Send comes out directly from the preamp while the FX Return goes back into the Valvereactor poweramp circuit.

I now plug my Zoom G9.2tt modeler directly into the FX return to bypass the Vox Preamp to avoid any additional coloration (instead of plugging the modeller into the front of the amp where the guitar is normally plugged in). This is a much better way to use a modeler IMO and works briliantly for me. The Zoom models the preamp while the Vox models the poweramp biggrin.gif

Anyways, I got the mod instructions from one of the guys over at patchtronix. Here's the link to the forum. The proper link to download instructions can be found on the 2nd page.

The instructions are for the AD30VT, but it also works on the AD50VT too. I highly recommend that any of you who's got a bit of the DIY spirit and desperately been wanting an FX loop in your AD30VT/AD50VT to give this a try. Do read the instructions thoroughly before attempting this mod as you could seriously damage your amp. Get all the necessary parts and tools before starting.

Have fun! smile.gif

Congrats on the mod!!! It looks pretty solid and I'm sure you're proud of it. thumbup.gif Btw, how long did you take to complete the mod and how much did you spend on the electronics?

Thanks for the Valvetronix link... When I get the time I would work on the mod but atm, I could live without it. thumbup.gif

The mod's really cheap actually. Just the tools that will cost ya if you don't already have them (like soldering iron & drill). Finding the switching jacks was a bit of a pain. I managed to find mine in Sim Lim while i was in SG (they were just SGD1 each). But I understand Nik at Ceriatone sells those jacks too. Not sure about Jalan Pasar. I ripped up some old headphones for the wires. And that's pretty much all you need. Took me one weekend to get the mod done. Most of the time was spent trying to drill the dang holes (the chassis is really tough so if you ever have any doubts on how tough it is, I can vouch that it's really reaaaally solid).

Having an FX loop gives sooo much more flexibility. Now I can even use the 4 cable method with the Zoom G9 and use the dumble models on the vox biggrin.gif Haven't tried that out yet though heh.

Yeah the AD100VT has a FX loop, but it's a bit too big for me leh... AD50VT was just nice (price-wise too). It still can get plenty loud... and I'd mic it in a live situation anyways. Only difference as far as i know between AD50VT and AD100VT are 100W, 2 speakers and the FX loop. The zoom G9 has 2 tubes and the vox has 1 tube heh. Plenty of tube-y goodness for me biggrin.gif

Hi,
Appreciate anyone can comment on ADxxVT's (especially AD30VT which I plan to buy) build quality.

I know AD30VT is meant for bedroom/home practise amp. But will it withstand if I were to tug it along here and there in the boot of the car or carry it around when travelling? Will the amp construction be able to withstand rough treatment such as that?

Ok, Im stuck in a pretty annoying situation.

So I ordered a vox ad50vt from a music store, the guy said it would arrive in two weeks.

Ok then, two weeks later said got backlog, waited some more.

Then he said factory backlog some more, wait another one month.

Now after a month, same reason again, have to wait till mid/3rd week of december. Im getting pretty fed up, as I've been playing with a crappy vcd player for the past 1-2 months.

Now I feel like getting back my deposit (RM 600!!!!!) and getting another amp instead, probably used. Called the shop up and asking what's happening, he gave me the option of changing my order to another amp if I dont wanna wait.

Now, what do you think I should do? Probably not the guy's fault, but I've been waiting for soooo long. Im normally patient when it comes to things...but this is really testing me.
