QUOTE(j05h @ May 12 2006, 06:58 AM) 12AX7s are pretty solid as far as tubes go. They're very reliable and last for a bit. They do, however, eventually wear out. Hmmm. Now that I think about it, maybe it's not going to last as long as a dedicated preamp tube, cos it's doing some work in the power stage... Bents has Groove Tubes going for under a hundred each, I think. Anyone tried different tubes? Another thing I'd like to do soon: Mod it so the speaker won't cut off when there's a jack in the line out. Or have a switch there so the option is mine to make. octave electronics carries a few types of tubes... hope they do carry some JJ tubes

one thing bout the uk modern its sounds terrible with my guitar [LP].... but it sounded awesome with nick_drakes tele [to me that is] me thinks uk modern not really suitable for dark sounding guitars matches very well with bright tho.... @nick_drake i love those grainy sound! sounds like tubes being saturated! well, on the uk 80's on higher volumes it has great balance of grain and definition, but definitely i prefer the sound on medium volumes... better for my ears as well

QUOTE(noisetrigger @ May 13 2006, 12:13 AM) WTF!!! Modern production tubes doesn't cost RM100 for one. Power tubes are less then RM50 for one and preamp tubes are usually less than RM30 for one. Don't buy groove tubes from Bentley, they are rebadged china tubes anyway. You can get tubes from here www.ceriatone.com, they deals mostly with Sovtek and JJs. My favourite is JJs, warm full tone. woot!! im planning to retube with a JJ ecc83 when my tube fails that is

QUOTE(TheWhacker @ May 15 2006, 12:05 PM) Guys, you know what ..... if you can, add in some sound clips for the settings you have managed to adjust with this amp. Its like the folks at the Hardware forum like thread such as "7900GTX Official Thread" where they post thier 3Dmark 2006 scores and compare with each other. Of course, 3Dmark 2006 won't work with your amps ..... but you post like, "I manage to get XYZ sounds with 123 settings" then post a sound clip This will help others to "hear" how this amp sounds like. is mic'd fine??? cheapo computer mic tho....

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ May 18 2006, 09:56 PM) Bro, it's a pc mic lar, if you're gonna mike it that close, I'm afraid it might clip LOL! recording at an excessively low volume can avoid the clipping if someone knocks the room door while recording.... confirm can hear

[note that i dont remember the settings much] cuz its been awhile since i played with the programmed channel my signal travels from guitar > SD-1 > EQ700 > preamp > speaker its on UK 80's [JCM800] preamp gain on full bass 4-5 oclock mids 3 oclock treble slight more than mids SD-1 Level full Drive 9-10 oclcok tho this is not straight from the amp.... just wanna let u guys know its capabilities

QUOTE(echobrainproject @ May 24 2006, 11:22 PM) i think the on/off axis technique is for close miking techniques. btw, can hear u strumming the guitar clearly(not from the amp). it means u havent turn the thing on loud enough! haha at night kenot too loud... if put louder it'll start clippin oso =/ and the axis thing..... i dun really know much bout it.... QUOTE(PSY84 @ May 25 2006, 12:38 AM) sean392, What program do you use to record?? audacity This post has been edited by sean392: May 25 2006, 07:07 AM

QUOTE(nerd @ May 25 2006, 10:17 PM) it's the line in from my soundcard that got problems lol =\ Hence the use of the word Humping. Blergh another clip recorded last time.... Pardon the ghey playing again plz... recorded using similar settings.... just that the mic located closer i think... Lol using epi LP classic > SD-1 > EQ700 > amp both neck and bridge p'ups is used in this.... half of it i ripped of an improvisation from ZW Lol. cudnt catch the rest... so replace blacktrix will kill me Lol. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?acti...CBEC90E51FC6846will post clean clips later Lol.

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ May 26 2006, 07:08 PM) If I'm not mistaken, Noel Gallagher favours AC30 amps, so you would get that Oasis ballpark tone by setting it to the AC30. Trying Maxing out both the preamp and poweramp gain and then boost the treble, you'ill get a very dynamic U2-style sound, which works well with brit rock stuff. One of my favourite settings. noel oso uses jcm900's right??? uk modern might be suitable.... tried only on one song tho.... and it isnt all that similar =/
