I find myself wondering what Apple did with all the Merom mobile chips that it raked in earlier. An overhaul of the MacBook and MacBook Pro would be great - many of the big names in laptops have already made the transition to Core 2 Duo and Apple has to play catch up now. Supposedly the quad-core processors will be making their debut in the start of 2007. If that's the case, then I think it may be advisable to hold out for a Quad-Core, Leopard and Vista dual-booting MBP.

One question from me: Do Mac OS X installations require product keys?

You should upgrade your firmware because I think anyone who upgrade the MB to the latest firmware would not facing the heat prob anymore, I think the temperature after the SMC update is below 60. Mine is around 38 to 50 only.

Core 2 Duo iMacs unofficially rock 802.11n capabilities

We know, it's still draft-spec equipment, but the fact that Apple has knowingly strapped an 802.11n-compliant wireless card inside its newest refresh of iMacs could certainly be telling of a certain product's future (or not). While a few enterprising users happened to spot the 802.11n inclusion while kicking around in the latest build of Windows Vista, there seems to be a bit more supporting evidence now; service source documents apparently credit the Broadcom BCM4321-series chip as the brains behind the iMac's WiFi, which Broadcom proudly boasts as the "first IEEE 802.11n draft-compliant solution." While the "firstness" is certainly debatable, the part number is reportedly visible on the iMac's AirPort Extreme module, giving us hope that Vista is somewhat on track and not completely doomed for infinite delays after all. While the current version of OS X chooses to ignore this speedy potential, future releases may be a bit more likely to fully disclose its secrets -- should the IEEE ever get its act together on a final 802.11n protocol, that is. Nevertheless, we're still a bit stumped as to why the snazzy new Mac Pro's didn't get the undercover next-gen WiFi offering, but hey, that's Apple for you.

Today my MacBook giving me a very big problem. After I update the OS to 10.4.8, I restart it (it's normal, right?) then it won't boot into dekstop. The grey waiting circle below the apple logo (you all knew what is it,right?) keep on spinning and although I left it for 3 hours it still same. Then I try to boot to CD by pressing Apple + C and target selection Ctrl + S. It won't boot. I finally try the Apple + V and there's many yellow line (errors!) came out and some of it is like this:

"Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement"
"Can't allocate class IntelCPUPowerManagement"
"Failed to load extension com.apple.USBUHCI.iokit.ioahciserialatapi"
"Can't allocate class USBUHCI"

I wonder what the h*ll is going on, I'm guessing something wrong with the logic board since I'm waiting for the logic board replacement (RSS symptom) for almost 3 weeks (very very long wait sad.gif) but before the Software Update everything was OK although sometime it turn of by itself (The RSS, again!)

So is there anyone could give me any other way that probably can solve this mess? Oh yes, please don't suggest me to send it to AppleCenter - that's the last choice we have!

I'm in a big depressed now - you see now it's 7AM I could not sleep since last night sad.gif

Thanks in advance.

I guess I found the solution by myself this morning biggrin.gif

Since the errors displayed is about the drivers or something like that so I guess nothing wrong with the logic board so I try to boot from CD and instead from using Apple + C I manage to boot from CD by just pressing C only. I try to repair permision but still could not boot in. Then I need to do clean installation (thank god there's archieve and install option) then everything is Okay now.

Cheers.

I've faced something like this with Panther before but the problem solved by just repairing the permision using Disk Utility. But this time looks like Disk Utility didn't work for me.

What? You didn't get the replacement yet? I thought I was the only one. I thought people who went to VR Tech already got their board relpaced. I went to Axis Comp in PJ. I thought they were slow, but looks like I found my mates now biggrin.gif

Keep on patient dude tongue.gif

I think you are right but it's too late now because I already update it again to 10.4.8 and guess what? About This Mac shows my CPU as 'Unknown CPU' and could not get the temperature, Core Duo Temp Widgets and Application says 'Undefined' While iStat Pro says 'No CPU Found' Too lazy to re-install it lorr.. Just let it be like that until the board replaced sweat.gif

There is no memory card reader on the MacBook or the MacBook Pro. Full information regarding specifications is available at Apple.com. These types of questions don't even need to be asked. Take a look below:
http://www.apple.com/macbook/macbook.html
http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/

Once again, information regarding pricing shouldn't have to be brought up. There's a pinned thread dedicated to providing you with that information.

You can't upgrade the laptop unless you get it from the US. But again you could open it and DIY if you dont mind

If you want a simple laptop [bear in mind its on Core 2 Duo with a cool webcam , I am telling you iSight is superb]. It has wifi , bulit in modem and all other stuff

You should try OSX , trust me once you have touched OSX you would not touch Windows , ask the forumers here. Ask few of my friends here . Thats the beauty of Apple , the design looks soo hot and it looks so-cool.
