any disadvantage of fttb(fibre then copper) compared to ftth(fibre all the way to house) ?
*
No difference.... copper can handle up to 100Mbps with Fibre handling much higher bandwidth

the guy said . u need to unsubscribe unifi later we can make fibre into my house . btw im living tingkat 9 flat . dunno if maxis salesperson lazy or else

I think it's better you refer to the front page for high rise installation.

Usually they use VDSL wall socket for high rise installation unless you can have more than one socket (not sure about this, using mine in terrace house)

So can't use more than one due to that limitation, so can only use one service at a time.

Ahh. Okay, then it is somewhat comforting to know that.. I live in condo and heard it will be fttb.. So I worried it will not be as smooth/stable/good as ftth...

Unless your condo has more than 1 line from the incoming Main Distribution Frame (MDF) to your unit...

today i ask maxis . about if have unifi already . then they say cannot pasang cause ada unifi . can anybody please tell me is this true ?
*
That is unfortunately their policy. Actually it would depend on your line quality your subscribed speed etc.

Also Maxis can easily be configured on to a different port (eg: port 2) of your VDSL router.

VDSL can typically get 40-50Mbps speeds so if say you subscribe Unifi 10Mbps & Maxis 10Mbps it shouldnt be an issue. But stupid maxis dont want to do that.

I have both unifi and maxis (Astro IPTV) at the same time in my condo. The way I did this was to apply direct to them without telling them I had unifi. Then when they came actually they cut my unifi. Then I complain to the installer there and then "how dare you simply cut my unifi without my permission"

Then they patch it back. In the MDF room they configured both maxis, Astro & Unifi VLANs on to the same physical cable (not ideal - if you can drag new line from your MDF room to your unit that is better).

Now i have a setup like this

VDSL LAN 1 -> Linksys Router (for Unifi)
VDSL LAN 2 -> Maxis Technicolour Router (for Maxis & Astro IPTV)
VDSL LAN 4 -> Hypp TV

thumbup.gif

Of course since Unifi & Maxis are sharing the same copper line I tried testing simultaneous 2 Astro HD channel + Hypp TV HD channel, then my broadband speed suffers...

The dect phone from maxis is so so only, with 10s call delay....
Actually you can use any phone connect to it, it just work the same.
Advantage of dect phone is can see the incoming number and save contact list.

I think is caused by both VOIP service and the dect phone.
After I changed to another phone, the delay reduced to 5s now.

Never encounter any delay using Dect phone. VoIP usually got delay. But hardly noticeable coz terminated in malaysia server. What's is ur ping? Maybe ur line only.

What cap you talking about? Download cap? Both maxis and unifi got download cap but is NOT implemented yet.. If one of the telco implement it, im pretty sure the other will follow soon..

If you talking about p2p/torrent cap. Then yes, maxis cap your speeds from 8pm-2am daily to around 0.5mbps ~ 1mbps... Unifi doesn't...

bought 2 semi-d, 1 bangalow to fix this maxis fibre. flex.gif

ok, jokes aside.
cap can mean a lot of things.
if you mean quota, no, maxis has not quota.

now go and find a new house, quick! tongue.gif
