QUOTE(syk @ May 23 2013, 12:47 PM) I think is caused by both VOIP service and the dect phone. After I changed to another phone, the delay reduced to 5s now. Never encounter any delay using Dect phone. VoIP usually got delay. But hardly noticeable coz terminated in malaysia server. What's is ur ping? Maybe ur line only.

QUOTE(itikgoreng @ Jun 14 2013, 07:21 PM) I tot maxis fibre share same lines as unifi, so pings and game performance should be similar? How is the latency and speed in JB? Same line up to tm exchange. From there go to maxis and out to international connection using their own backbone. So basically it's the same when its come to coverage but totally different when its come to international connectivity.

QUOTE(biatche @ Jun 21 2013, 05:44 PM) Does Maxis Fiber use same physical lines as Unifi? If so, is routing similar? Reliability similar? Same line. Routing is different for Internet traffic.

QUOTE(yoikn @ Jul 8 2013, 03:57 PM) Hi, Maxis Home fibre newbie here. I just installed Maxis Fibre + Astro last week (no phone line). So far so good, wifi quite strong even at the farthest room. Anyway, wanna ask, 1) to increase download speed from filehosting sites (netload, uploaded, ryushare), can i just change the dns or do i have to change to public ip as well? 2) received quotation from ADT (alarm system). To install the alarm, they need extra RM300 for connection to their centralized system because i'm using Maxis Fibre (if unifi, no extra $$), what gives? Thanks guys. Maybe they mistaken by Maxis its mean mobile (gsm). GSM module usually do cost around RM300. Try mentioning to them this is maxis home line not celular line. But you said no have no phone line? Does maxis fiber not come with voip phone?

QUOTE(yoikn @ Jul 9 2013, 05:04 PM) I took the maxis home fiber without VOIP. I think i mentioned to him it's maxis fibre, but i'll double check again. If no voip how to connect? The alarm is using normal phone line. Maxis/Unifi VOIP is consider normal phone line because of the adapter provided by the modem/router. I think maxis fibre package got free home voice, only no dect phone provided. Except for with astro package, that 1 need additional RM20/month.

QUOTE(Syncing @ Jul 20 2013, 05:08 PM) I have a few questions to port forwarding and Public IP, it might have been asked before and I already searched the whole topic but still could not find any answer. 1) I recently changed to public IP and my account now has @public.maxis.com.my but how do I know if its public IP. My IP address begins with 121 instead of 14 which I read was public IP. 2) I'm not sure about this but port 80 was opened after changing to public IP, or just a mistake by me. But I'm trying to open port 3074, I tried port forwarding on the router itself and assign Public IP to my computer but it still could not work. Any suggestions/solutions to my problems? 121 is public ip. Goto to http://www.whatismyip.com/ if its show same ip as in router than its public. U don't put public ip to ur computer. U just need to port forward what port u want in the router and point the port to u computer internal ip. Usually 192.168.1.xxx

QUOTE(Jjdesu @ Aug 1 2013, 10:03 PM) Hey guys..want to ask something..the maxis 100mb network quota monthly pass..is it 100mb per day? Or 100mb per month? Lol..if its 100mb per month..I would find hotlink 100mb per day / rm2 extremely worth cuz if u add them up.. You mean maxis fiber? It's 100000mb/month or 100gb. And no quota imposed now so it's unlimited.

QUOTE(thang @ Aug 28 2013, 04:28 PM) I am very confused.I requested for FIXED IP and was assigned XXXXX@public.maxis.com.my and everything was setup up properly including maxis side and my router. Also 192.168.1.254 to TG799vn router showed what I expect. Recently I found after every 48 hours the IP changes as shown in e-internet settings in router. Is this normal? Is this so called fixed IP (or is this dynamic?).Something like 121.121.107.XYZ where XYZ always changes every 48 hours or on DISCONNECT at e-internet settings??? It's PUBLIC IP.. Fixed IP only available for business package. use dynamic dns service as alternative.

QUOTE(thang @ Aug 28 2013, 05:10 PM) Thanks bros.Another Q. how does this affect port forwarding? you will use ur dynamic domain rather than IP. This is to connect to ur modem (like for cctv viewing). But you need a modem capable of updating IP address to the dynamic dns server. Most 3rd party router support most of the DDNS services. Other than that, nothing change for setting up port forward. There maybe a delay when you router change IP to become live on ur domain.. Maybe 5-10 minutes..

QUOTE(lchee @ Oct 18 2013, 02:53 PM) Does anyone here heard bout maxis claiming there are two types of fibre optic under their offer. HSBA and NGBB. HSBA are existing lines owned by TM where maxis piggy back on them. NGBB is fibre line owned by maxis themselves. I hear that most of the complaints of slow line are from those customer on HSBA lines. I am not sure how u can see what type of line you are on, but apparently not many NGBB around. So if your property area happen to be on NGBB line service, then you are in luck from what I have been made to understand. Maxis do have their own fiber, and also use tm 1. You heard more from unifi line because there are more customer. The problem with the slow line is not coz by local exchange. It's maxis routing and their international capacity. And also capping at night time.

QUOTE(sordanny @ Jan 30 2015, 09:06 AM) Relocate to a new place out of Maxis fibre coverage. U need to show proof such as utility bill under your name, tenancy agreement etc http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/intern...t:fiberinternet What if I move homes within my contract period? You will need to provide documented proof of your new house address (e.g. utility bill addressed to your new home). If we are able to offer the service in the new location (depending on whether your new location is within our coverage areas) we will re-locate the service for you for a fee of RM200. Note that your contract will be restarted for another 24 months. If the service is not available in your area, we will waive your penalty fees and if you are unable to provide proof of your new house address and you are still bound to the contract and you will incur a penalty fee for early termination in your final bill. Where can I terminate the service? You need to walk-in to any Maxis Centre. A penalty of RM500 is applicable should you terminate the service within the 24 months contract period. If I terminate the service before the contract ends, do I need to return the devices? We only require for you to return the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to Maxis. Our installers will arrange to pick up the ONT from your home. Customers who fail to return the ONT will be charged RM500, in addition to the early termination penalty charges of RM500. This applied to unifi also.

QUOTE(sordanny @ Jan 30 2015, 12:19 PM) For unifi case, u're not completey free from TM but will need to convert to streamyx in order to waive the penalty. If not u still need to pay penalty That's is different product. They might ask you to convert to streamyx but you can denied.
