Maxis is really bad.. Currently i haven't terminate Unifi so i'm running Unifi and Maxis at the same time. I can switch network anytime so i can do a comparison...

Ping is really bad on Maxis! Browsing also are not as fast Unifi, even google.com i had to wait 1 second before the page appears. Is this broadband????!!

Even right now , i did a ping test to jaring.my. Unifi averaging me at 6ms...
Maxis is averaging me 180ms.. sometimes it goes 250ms. You can't even ping properly a local server?

Day to day use.. it's really irritating when you have to wait a second or 2 for a page to load. That is not broadband!

For users who are thinking of switching, i wouldn't recommend it if you are a Internet critical user. Casual users and would like to save RM 80+ on the Astro package, may you have a better luck than me.

I even thinking of terminating Maxis even though i just installed for a few days only. If not for the penalty..

It was a really bad decision of me switching side..and i'm using unifi network to post this..

ohh.. let's not talk about torrent...

LordDenning,

If you are Internet heavy user... get Unifi..
If cost is your concern and u want with Astro package, get Maxis.

Subscribe to Maxis (RM118) for nearly a year... maybe I one of those lucky one.... I'm not a gamer... but a heavy surfer and youtubing... if there is a new movie that I like I would torrent it every night.

I'm satisfied with Maxis Fibre.

Maxis DNS might be the problem with browsing lag, have you try using google DNS? I've booth, Unifi & Maxis, there is no lag (me using google DNS), but browsing speed doesn't greatly increase either though Maxis supposedly two times better in term of speed.

yeah...I just realized it. Previously I used google DNS but recently I change new laptop and forgotten to change the DNS setting hence the connection is slow. Thx for your remind!

Like I said it's a hit & miss... My only issue with maxis fiber is high ping for online game... I currently don't have any issue with p2p (torrent the only I use (in b4 some angry bcoz I post this))...

Also Maxis IPTV available already..? Still can't find a way to register it except for ROI only...
*
Yes maxis IPTV is available already. Look at astro website http://www.astro.com.my/byond/ByondIPTV.aspx
Although it sounds so tempting, i decide to stick to UNIFI. Sighh, damn Maxis i hope they will improve their fibre service.

really? thats sucks. They have a shop dedicated for the astro IPTV in mid valley. I throw them with all sort of poor remarks on their maxis fibre demanding explanation. however they so blur sotong...... All they say is "no no our maxis fibre very good" I also ask about if theres a cooling period for this package, they say they dont know......

Folks,

Please compalaint to SKMM - http://aduan.skmm.gov.my/ if you are not satisfied with your Maxis FTTH services. They will investigate and if really the case then they will impose a fine on Maxis. Trust me, with SKMM they will act more faster then you imagine !

Hope this helps !

Lazy answer from maxis, who do you asked? I've both Unifi & Maxis sharing the same Huwaei BTU but with different routers. No problem, single fibre access to my house.

Ah, then this is different story, you're using vdsl, the fiber terminates at ground floor and it uses cooper line to your flat. Have no experience on this, but if the vdsl is capable of carrying more traffics, it should work. But, sorry, don't have experience on this.

any disadvantage of fttb(fibre then copper) compared to ftth(fibre all the way to house) ?
