QUOTE(lowyard @ Feb 1 2014, 03:01 AM) wow, seriously? Don't wan to get nightmare ?currently using unifi 5.. contract ends this march.. thinking of subscribing to astro byond iptv.. i do know i'll get 10mbps for 148.. n rm 108 for superpack 1. total RM256. currently unifi 5 (149) n superpack 1 RM141 total RM290. i'll get to save rm34 n get twice the speed n get unaffected astro by weather. Question is, how about the reliability of both services (astro n internet)? have you guys ever experienced a downtime? is it frequent? currently with unifi, got problems too but very rare so i'll say it's pretty reliable n consistent. but what is your say for byond iptv? coz my sis will need a stable connection coz she'll work from home for Shell cyberjaya from time to time. she couldnt afford to have an erratic connection. thanks guys. oh btw, i live in bandar tun hussein onn. UPDATE: oh crap.. i just read 2 pages back n got scared already.. it cant be all that bad right? but, i dont want to keep on discovering the things that i can n cant do when im already tied up to the contract for a freaking 2 years!! maxis die hard fan, say something! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Don't change.... |

QUOTE(icecubemoon @ Feb 1 2014, 04:34 PM) Agreed .. Maxis FTTH is now totally useless to watch Hulu or Netflix. And loading photos & video from FB took ages. If you're not interested on streaming, then FTTH is a okay. BTW, I can feel the lag on my office VPN to UK too, will wait for few more weeks, if this still happening, might pay RM500 and jump back to Unifi. |

BTW, I can feel the lag on my office VPN to UK too, will wait for few more weeks, if this still happening, might pay RM500 and jump back to Unifi. i think i'm fortunate.. mine has been pretty good. I'm getting the speeds i signed up for. So no complains. Jumped on the netflix and hulu+ bandwagon lately. and initially the experience was so so... No HD... But have been spending late night stuffing around. and i think its because the technicolor router is not so good when it comes to dns stuff. Either that or i have something lagging up my system that i haven't discovered. With vpn no problem with hd, so i was always wondering why. So its seems the added router works.. By the way it reminds me of my old unifi days... when we had to do something like this too. Perhaps someone can share. Anyway i bridged up another router to the technicolor and its seems to do quite well now.. So far keeping me fingers crossed. Not an elegant solution for now, but it works. As for fb, don't do much of that. so i can't comment. Have you complained to maxis. They do try to help, although at times they may seem inadequate. |

Just logged a report with MaxisListen/twitter, so if only few that having this problem, it seems to be with account setting. They've created a case no for me.

This question has probably been asked many times. But can anyone confirm that maxis throttles p2p? If so what is the average speed?
Planning to switch from VIP5 to IPTV 10mbps. |

After almost two to three weeks of slowdown to US servers, and unsatisfactory answer given by Maxis (they called and told us that upgrade will be held in coming 1 to 3 months to resolve this issue, with no exact date / guarantee), and decided to close the ticket with the above remarks. Decided to log a case to CFM (albeit I doubt it'll help to resolve the issue).

I do feel downloading is faster when I was using Unifi. Now I feel Maxis is tweaking the Speedtest maybe by route the speedtest request to a proxy and you will be getting high speed. But I like to maintain astro iptv. I might be returning to Unifi when they allow Astro iptv to go thru unifi.
Maxis 10mb felt like slower than unifi 5mb when browsing. |

So far I have only filed complaint through Maxis and CFM, haven't file it through SKMM yet. Will try it if there's no progresses. |

Hey guys, I'm currently stuck with streamyx 0.7MBps plan (not offered anymore).
I've tried searching for other fibre ISP, and so far: 1) Unifi for my area is 'full', and currently only 4 out of 10 blocks of my condo supports unifi. 2) Max speed for my unit is 1MBps, because apparently going to 4mbps will affect the stability of unifi there so they refuse to upgrade my streamyx. -.- 3) Time and ABNxcess is not supported in my area, so only fibre provider is maxis (MAYBE only -.-) So after reading up on all the horror stories of Maxis Fibre, I'm somewhat hesitant to change to Maxis Fibre, but my work demands that I have fast internet for downloading project files that are over 300~400mb large, and I cannot afford to wait 2~3 hours for that to download. So I'm asking, considering I don't really have a choice, besides getting wireless broadband (I download a lot, and I do play online games as well as stream, so wireless broadband will probably burn a hole in my pocket), Should I get Maxis Fibre? And I hope you guys can give me |

You should report via SKMM instead of CFM. CFM is actually under SKMM, therefore you should know who has the bigger authority.Personally, I have positive feedbacks regarding SKMM. 1. Maxis mobile internet user having problem accessing Clash of Clans game. It was blocked by Maxis out of the blue. After almost 1month++ of rage through Maxis forum, SKMM report by a group of users, it was rectified. 2. OKU discount for Home Fibre. Signed up for Maxis Home but before installation, Maxis already removed it. Waiting for more than a month before the installation commence. After that, they billed me the normal price. They did not rectify it after 2-3 trips to Maxis Center, and I went straight with SKMM. Took just a week to get it done The thing is that once you go the SKMM route, your case will be handled by another department in Maxis, specialized for SKMM or high priority customer service (My guess since the person in charge of your case will keep calling back to update from time to time). They will call you back in few days time after the first email confirmation from SKMM staff. If you asked me, I think Maxis throttle the connection is very likely. I noticed that I have no problem accessing the sites which load up pretty fast. Even when uploading to Youtube or Amazon Cloud itself, it is pretty good. Just the downloading sucks. I cant think of anything other than an evil handbrake. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Feb 7 2014, 02:00 PM |
