Strange. That was what I was told when I went to the EPF office some years ago.

Also, my spreadsheet checks on the dividend I got (based on daily rest) have been very close to what was in my account (down to the cents).
*
they gave me in email, 1 day.

if that's the case, i'll try count mine when I've the time.

Got this from this site....

EPF dividend calculated is based on daily rest.
Means that, dividend is calculated based on daily balanced of each account 1 and 2.
However, please bear in mind the following,

a) Monthly contribution start earnings dividend only on the last day of the month irrespective the actual day the monthly contribution is deposited.

b) For withdrawal, dividend for the withdrawal sum is only eligible up to the day prior to withdrawal day. No dividend will be given on the withdrawal day.

How to Calculate EPF Dividend?
https://1-million-dollar-blog.com/how-to-ca...e-epf-dividend/

thus it is based on daily rest BUT not calculated as daily for money that was just deposited for that month.... doh.gif rclxub.gif

1. the dividend calculation for the contribution is based on one day for the contribution month.<snipped>
Thus, if you wish to get dividend for 2020, you may contribute any day in December 2019."

There could be chances dividend calculation of monthly statutory contribution & self contribution is slightly different.

hmm.gif will this lead to employees wanting their employers to bank in their EPF money on 1st of each month rather than the statutory on/before 15 of the month?

Sincere question to Uncle Prophetjul, Uncle Looi & others in the HNWI category.

Phylosophically, how much is enuf for retirement? Does the future for kwsp n ASNB look more challenging to maintain > 5% dividend (as in USA/Swiss retirement funds going all out in FAANG stocks) in the next 3-5 years? How shud we hedge our savings... Or, dump more into Kwsp n/or asnb.

How much more stable retirement $$$ needed for your own comfortable retirement.

Also, how best to decide if we shud spend $$$ to send children to SIN/AUS for future studies (not specialty - medicine, dental, degree), when there's so much protectionism in hiring foreigners.

Thank you.

How much more stable retirement $$$ needed for your own comfortable retirement...
it depends on what you want & how you want to spend your money pm during your retirement year?
it is also depends on what and how you want to define "comfortable" retirement.

how best to decide if we shud spend $$$ to send children to SIN/AUS for future studies (not specialty - medicine, dental, degree), when there's so much protectionism in hiring foreigners.
are your children about to be there already?
if not,...how sure are you they can qualified to be studying there or are really interested to be studying that subject field and want to be there?......

if got time and only if really wanted to....can try these previous lyn threads for some info & queries about retirement....

This is a personal question for yourself.
How much is enuf? Some require Rm5k, while others RM20k.

Practically, you need to work out your budget for daily living, luxury and super luxury. Use the present day value and inflate it to your preferred retirement age. Then work the principal sum that you need to maintain such lifestyle. That will be your target to save towards. I understand that the total annual expenditure should not be more than 4% of the yield of your principal as a guide.

As for children's education, it depends on lots of things.
Some are happy living in Malaysia. Some are not so happy with the never ending racial overtones, etc.
So what would make you stay or go overseas?

Historically, EPF announcement date was on 2nd or 3rd Saturday of February.

No idea why so many people still keep guessing on weekday?

2019 – 16 Feb (3rd Sat)
2018 – 10 Feb (2nd Sat)
2017 – 18 Feb (3rd Sat)
2016 – 20 Feb (3rd Sat)
2015 – 7 Feb (2nd Sat)
2014 – 15 Feb (3rd Sat)

It may be a little late this year; 22 Feb (Sat), i.e. 4th Saturday, since this year has 5 Saturdays (1st & 29th are all Saturdays).
