Haha, didn't know it was catching people's attention - sent to Meguairs in Sunway (Shineway) for claying & waxing on the weekends.

I was contemplating of getting the Midnight Blue as well, but went for Silver because it's a lazy man's colour - dust isn't obvious and has the "sentiasa bersinar" look thumbup.gif

We should probably kena one TT at Rims over the week !

Haha, not the same place - anyhow, let's not spam the board - just added you on FB.

This car requires alot of upkeep alright - especially driving to Cyber; the dust, stones and heavy rain can really make the car look like a rally car at the day's end.

Anyhow, to all those staying around Sunway / Subang - do drop by Shineway near Sunway University, the level of detailing is good & the boss is a nice chap & very meticulous fellow - who also owned a Focus Mk2 before.

It's RM98 bro - this is the walk-in rates but you may inquire for membership, package deals which is lesser.
You may try to see if there's any deals online as well rclxm9.gif

Actually my aim of regular claying and waxng was to achieve following :-

1) Maintain the polishing that I've done for about 6 months
2) Prevent permanent water marks
3) Remove insect and bug splatter while driving on the Cyberjaya Highway

I can say with over 500km of driving in a week under rain and highway driving, either once a week or once every 2 weeks with a wash every week - all this depends on your environment and surroundings, as some do up to a month once.

Hello guys..

Just wanna ask whether any of you has ever install Voltage Stabilizer sold by EricTioh ?

His thread is ---->> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1289791

Seems a lot of positive feedback.

I plan to install into my new Ford Focus Sport + 2013. Do u think the installation will void my warranty?

Wow... doing a clay & wax every other week is pretty financially "stressful" doing it outside. Hope you are getting a good deal and that they are doing a quality job for you.

I've been trying to keep up the discipline of washing it myself weekly, and either a self-applied wipe-on wax or sealant every other week, but honestly have skipped a few weeks in the past 5 months of ownership. Did a clay once at the start, and recently just the hood.... makes a HUGE difference! Plan to do the rest of the car this weekend (barring bad weather).

Have yet to send it off for a professional polish, even though the SA said they touched it up before handover. Overall the look is still acceptable to my untrained eye; no noticeable swirls/marring.

*sigh!* The agony and the ecstasy of Midnight Blue!!

Hmmph, looks interesting, I've installed one expensive VS (around 1k+ together with cooper VS) on my 2nd gen Vios, I feel the gear changes smoother, engine quieter, easier to start up engine, but my friend (he not into car stuff) who also driving a Vios without VS, said no different from his Vios without VS, lolx

So it's all up to you whether you believe it or not, just like the Air purifier, some said it's totally useless as no one can really tells whether it's working or not..

True enough bro - however with the deal and quality of service received, I'm quite happy although I'm always present when my car is being detailed.
Also, it isn't feasible for me to do claying and waxing as I don't have the right conditions at home to perform them, so best leave it to the right people.
For me, I spend time to detail my interior (seats, door panels and dashboards) with the leather cleaner and conditioner only since I end up doing it once every 2 months and it cost a bomb doing it outside.

Claying, if done properly, saves your clearcoat by preventing dirt and insect leftovers. However, if too much pressure is applied or the surface isn't clean enough before application could easily cause scrathes instead.

No swirl marks are good - it's a crucial observation as some "so called" detailing guys can't even notice this thumbup.gif

I notice from the thread here that some owners are experiencing judder with the transmission at >10,000km mileage. Is the judder more serious than when the vehicle is at 2,000km to say 5,000km mileage? Reason I asked this question is the juddering in my vehicle has reduced considerably to the point that it can be considered a non-issue. The mileage is currently at 2,300km.

For those who experience judder in the transmission, is the vehicle in D or S? I notice that the vehicle judder or rather jerk is more prominent in S than in D. In D the changes in gear under normal acceleration are quite smooth. Only in hard acceleration the shudder/jerk is stronger.

I recently had a bit of time shifting between D and S on the highways. With Sports mode, I find instant power delivery in mid-speed acceleration is terrific. However, the time taken to reach higher speeds appear to be longer than in D. In normal Drive(D), the accceleration to top speed seems to be more effortless. The needle on the speedometer just keeps going and going when the pedal is depressed whereas in Sports mode the acceleration from mid to top speed appears to be more restrained.

In summary, in my limited experience, I think Sports mode is only useful in low to mid-speed acceleration, and if one wants to reach a higher speed of say 170km/h or 180km/h it is more appropriate to leave the vehicle in D. Sports mode is useful when there is need to overtake a vehicle at speeds of say 70km/h or 80km/h.

My new focus is having grinding sound especially from 2nd to 3rd gear when i positioned it at D mode. Occasionally, first gear if jerking at the junction or traffic light.

Have sent to my first service after my complaint but now is having back the same problems. and they said the grinding sound will not effect the performance of the car. shakehead.gif

Are you guys facing the same problems?

I have experienced the grinding sound only once, but that was at very low speeds 10 to 30km/h, presumably 1st to 2nd gear. Now I don't hear the grinding sound anymore. Funny but weird the grinding sound only popped up once, for several seconds, only one time, then I don't hear it anymore.

My vehicle is still below 3,000km at the moment. Grinding sound was heard when the vehicle was around 1,800km. I will monitor the situation and update this thread if I notice any funny peculiarities particularly with the transmission of the Focus.

As for low-speed juddering, I feel this is a non-issue. Occassionally the vehicle will still jerk a bit when coming to a stop or accelerating from standstill or in traffic jam situations, and i suppose it is inherent in the Powershift transmission. As long as the "jerk" is not too strong then I think it is something that I can live with.

Hello Focus Lovers, I'm thinking about getting the Ford Focus (non-plus) edition. Can you guys give me some feedback about what you experience has been so far with it?

This car has received much good reviews in the performance and handling department, plus it comes with 6 airbags to boot. I'm interested in how much of a premium I would be forking out vs say a Honda when it comes to maintenance down the road. If you've owned a Honda in the past and are a Focus owner now, can you chime in on that in terms or service costs, parts, friendliness and efficiency of the service centers in the KL area?

Hi kl98,

Need to sort one specification detail out first: you mentioned 6 airbags but said your are considering the non-Plus. Unfortunately the non-Plus (like mine) has 4 airbags, not 6. I think the two missing are the curtain airbags for the rear passengers (not sure though).

In terms of long-term maintenance, I doubt any current Mk3 owner can objectively give you details, because the car is only a year-plus old in Malaysia, and it comes with a 3-year free maintenance contract; as such most/all of us have yet to really pay anything in terms of maintenance to date.

In terms of service centres, generally I think they are pretty similar to most other makes, meaning some are great and some are less so. I just sent in my car for the first 10k service; the personnel were very accommodating, but really this service was very minimal (oil change and oil filter change, plus diagnostics). I was a little less happy in that I was hoping to get details of the diagnostics (a little geeky), but didn't get it. However, other than that the experience was trauma-less.

As for the overall ownership experience, I think you can sense the tone from this forum (just see how many posts there are!). Personally, I have never had more satisfaction and enjoyment from driving/owning a car that with the Ford Focus Mk3. I still have a smile plastered all over my face each time I drive it.
