i bought my rt-n66u from online trader. its a local asus malaysia. unfortunately he did not provide me any receipt. if anything goes wrong with the modem, how can i claim warranty? or does asus can do online warranty register?

Hi skyfusion,

If you don't have the receipt, the service centre will base on your serial number for warranty claim.

Thank you

Hi Asus n friends,

need your advice

Recently bought Rt-n56u, there are some issues:

1- noticed quickly that the router can get quite hot, almost like Tm 615 router. Is it a bug? Or is it normal? Hot = not comfortable to put my hand

2- i have few phones connected either 2ghz/5ghz and speed test is great on both frequencies! But on my personal laptop, which using broadcom N built in adapter, when connect to 2ghz(not dual band), speedtest is max 2mbps, instead of 5 mbps of my package. but phone is doing ok on 2ghz. Even my ipad also working normal.

I know 56u is ralink, but all laptop should be compatible to use 2.4ghz freq right?

or i am missing something?

thank you
*
Hi msafiedin,

Try update the firmware to the latest. The heat should be no problem as no heat problem was reported from this model.

What software or web that you use to do the testing? Like speedtest.net, do make sure the server are same.

Has you do a factory reset before if you have updated the firmware already?

Thank you

Hi aneip,

For DSL model, you can have a look at DSL-N55U. As for router, you can have a look at these models RT-N14U, RT-N14UHP, RT-N65U, RT-N66U, and above.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

Upon re-logging in again after one session, I have to do the whole log in process which takes 3 minutes. This is under router mode (default). It is a bit troublesome.

Is there another way to make re-logging in to Yes Lan network automatic upon switching on the router or plugging in the usb dongle?

Hi eauyong,

May I know are you using 2 connection? One is streamyx or UNIFI and one is YES GO 4G?

And when you plug out and plug in the YES GO 4G you will need to redo all the configuration? Or do you mind elaborate more?

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

I only have one Internet connection, that is the YES usb dongle attached to the N66U. I will establish the connection through the webgui interface after logging into the router.

Upon finishing, I switch off the router to conserve quota.

Later, when I need the internet, I will switch on the router, the usb dongle still attached to the router and it will flash for awhile the only remain the red LED,not establishing a connection.

So, I have to log into the router and do the connection to the YES LAN network again which takes about 3 minutes and it is not convenient.

Is there an easier config to do this connection seamlessly?

i purchased rt-n56u recently and managed to set it up with unifi AT home (dynamic ip)

interested to use/learn the function of ddns and vpn

1- ddns i registerd with myname.asuscomm.com

- i can ping that adress with the dynamic IP, or the adress asuscomm (so registered ok)
- when i was at home testing, i can go to the router using ddns
- but when i try to go in the router from office, while still manged to ping the ddns, but cant connect to it.

2- vpn

- i set it up using asus tutorial
- everything is okay
- try to connect from office to my home vpn also cant.

please advice whats the solution.

I remember having the same issues like you, previously, on my RT-N56U. Someone, I forget who, asked me to try disabling DMZ on my router. And after that my issues were fixed. You may want to try it.
