If we want to spoil competitor's brands, we don't need to use words, there are many ways to do it. On the contrary, one of those two whom you mentioned has tried a futile method in damaging our brands but instead killing their own, pretty hilarious actually. Consumers are not as stupid these days. They know how to read reviews and make decision based on that and also on pricing.

Rosewill OEMs from Superflower, Sirfa, HiPower. Rosewill itself is not as popular as Seasonic and will never get better pricing than factory-direct-sale brands anyway.

If you are curious to know, why not call our boss yourself to ask about it? Clearly someone is telling you stories, we can put on our story telling hat also but this is not a forum for conspiracy theories or to satisfy your curiosity. It's clearly for PSU recommendation and PSU related discussion.

If you really just wanna buy a psu, use pm or comment in trade zone instead of here.
Look at your questions, it just hilarious to be offensive to any seller imo.

Er guys, wondering is it save to pick up a one years old FPS Hexa 500w PSU to power a rig with i5-2500 plus HD 7770? Kinda tight in budget.

Is it true PSU efficiency shrunk every year of usage?

As long as the seller provides reasonable amount of time of personal warranty or receipt then should be ok.
A new one only cost around RM149.
Yup, PSU degrades little by little. If it has better quality components built then would be slower in degrade.

i just bought an el budget gigabyte hercules x 580w for RM 140. Its just for a basic core i3 with an old 9400gt card. Cannot find any review or test because this a newly launched unit since april this year. I think its pretty good quality. Runs quiet and not even warm like my old cap ayam did.

I had good experience with the old gigabyte 350w power supply that lasted 5 years before a bad surge killed it. I though of trying other brands but cost and on paper value seems better on the gigabyte x 580.

assuming all other hardwares are same. will upgrading to a higher wattage but more efficient psu consume more electricity?

eg from a bronze 650W to platinum 860W

The PSU will draw all the necessary power required. If your rig consumes around 300W of power, the unit will provide with that amount of wattage. Heck, this will make your PSU lasts longer since the PSU load gets lower and runs cooler, and increases efficiency.

Here's an excerpt of my article:
QUOTE
However, the PSU efficiency is not constant; it changes with respect to how much load on the PSU. Take a look at the efficiency graph of a Cooler Master PSU.
user posted image
So, to make it clear, the PSU attains its highest efficiency at around 50% of the load.
That means should I get a PSU such that the peak draw is at 50% of the load? Nope in most cases
The reason behind it is because most of the time your PC is idling. However, there are some exceptions as well, for example, for those folding rigs.

it depends on the PSU upgraded to.

say your load is at 350w.

for 650w, your 350w is 53% power load
for 860w, your 350w is only 40% power load

going by the graph below (for example)

user posted image

it makes no difference.

but the efficiency improves at around 45%.

should you aim for 45%? no, waste of time.

the graph is exaggerated.

if you mark those points, the rated efficiency difference is like 0.5% despite the curve shown.

furthermore your computer isn't on full load all the time so you're on average, still stuck on the 20% load part.

Rosewill look nice too. But it is hard to find seller in penang. Need to order from garage sales. I prefer buy at hikari shop, later if got anything easy to find her. Maybe next time i try rosewill. Thx for suggestion btw.
