hi,any sifu can recommend me good psu? my budget rm650 and psu must be 750w.is it worth investing on gold / platinum psu?
*
Getting 80+ gold is pretty good enough. Most 80+ gold PSU now offer full modular design for easier cable management cool2.gif .
Corsair AX 750W 80+gold RM579
Seasonic X-760W RM629

Both PSU are silent too smile.gif .

Overall performance is similar.

Spec :

Intel i5-3470
Asus P8B75-MLX
Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 Blue
Sapphire HD7770 Vapor X GHZ Edition
WD Blue 500GB

My town don't sell FSP Hexa 500W yawn.gif

Or should i get a Xigmatek Tauro 500W? 80+ Bronze.

Since VS550 is RM190 and Xigmatek Tauro 500W is RM200  thumbup.gif
*
Just RM10 different, better grab 80+ bronze.

QUOTE(Prodigenous Zee @ Feb 28 2013, 02:06 PM)
Don't be fooled by the "550" in the name ya, it's not a 550W power supply. It's a entry-level 240W power supply. It depends on the rig you're trying to power up. Is it a gaming rig? If so then the FSP Hexa 500W immediately springs to mind. Only around RM150  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
It should be 240V. This model is entry level indeed.

Can Xigmatek Tauro 500W 80+ Bronze power up my system without any issue or power shortage?  laugh.gif

Yup it can, because i5 and 7770 doesnt really consume many power.

Not sure if this question is right for this section or not. Please suggest me a proper thread to post it if I'm wrong.

Recently I got an interest to buy a new PSU for my current rig and use the old one for modding purpose.

So my question is:
Anyone has experience on modding the electrical components inside it so that the power supply can support up to 30~40V device?
Currently I only have an idea to remove the coils and replace it with another one that comes with aspect ratio to achieve 40V on output.
Ampere rating not yet decide since I havent done the research of it.

Some add-on: The capacitors need to be changed too I suppose due higher voltage.

It's actually a part of my FYP on first semester, the supervisor asked me to design the power supply if possible.

Hi there,

I am just wondering if i get cap ayam PSU will it last me for 2-3 months? Since my psu have to send to for RMA. Appararently the service will took like 2-3 months....
*
Never recommend to buy a cap ayam psu unless your pocket only RM50 left.
Power consumption of your system/rig is mostly concern.
If lucky, pc just shut down or cant turn on due to lack of power.
If unlucky, pc components damaged due to unstable power supply.
So it is your choice.

Ok, my current PSU is facing some problem and need to send for RMA...I guess i will sell the PSU once its come back from RMA.

PSU: Gigabyte PowerRock Ex500W
Mobo: MSI B75P45 (lga1155)
GPU: Sapphire 7850 2gb (OC version)
Processor: i3-3220
Ram: 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333 value ram
HDD:500 GB WD blue.
DVD: LG DVD RW

What power supply i should get for price range around RM150? Or maybe recommend other alternative PSU. Looking for low failure rate PSU.
1. FSP hexa 500W (HE-500)
2. Enermax Naxn Tomahawk II 500W
3. AcBel ME2 Plus 500W
4. Corsair VS450
5. Corsair VS550 (slightly out of budget)

I have asked idealtech, they mentioned that FSP hexa 500W (HE-500) and Gigabyte PowerRock Ex500 has high failure rate, so they do not carry it anymore...

Anyone used the tomahawk II before? how was it?
*
Then Enermax NAXN maybe a better option. Corsair VS series still an entry level PSU, so not sure how good it can perform.
Try google around the enermax psu review and see if it can deliver true power of 500W without any problem.

Hi guys, it seems that my FSP Hexa 500W (can't RMA, warranty end) bout to give up on me already hard to turn on my rig, so i'm looking for a new good and reliable PSU, budget around rm250 max, really bad luck lately, laptop's battery also broke... sad.gif

my rig specs:

I3 2100
500HDD
Gtx 560 Ti
4gb ram

Bro Hilmax suggest me to get gigabyte PowerRock/ CX corsair 500w, it is good enough already?

Btw I plan to get Enermax NAXN 82+ 550W @rm215 or S12 II 620W 80Plus Bronze @ rm285 (slightly out from budget) from lingloong..
*
Yup CX 500W is good enough for around RM200 budget.
Enermax NAXN82+ is good too.

Should I get Seasonic S12II-620 or M12II-620?

Never use semi or modular PSU before. Apart from cable management, what are the benefits of using semi or modular PSU compared to non modular?

Thanks.
*
The cable management is better and look more neat because unnecessary cables is removed.
If they are same 80+ bronze with same true power output, then nothing much different.
Some sample from my unboxing as below:

Non modular

How about Seasonic G series 550W 80+ Gold modular version. Enough?

Still undecided between this two models
*
G 550 is enough too. Up to u to pick a modular 80+ gold or non-modular 80+ bronze.
Gtx 650 and xeon doesnt consume much power.

Yes.They're using almost no power at all at idle..and that's the problem.. sweat.gif

Haswell aimed to conserve as much power as possible. This is great improvement for laptop or mobile devices since battery life always short.
Guess we just need to wait the Haswell release and see if got new type of power supply that is designed for it lol laugh.gif .
It will cause headache for people who target to upgrade their existing rig to new mobo + cpu if the power supply dont work.

Hi chocobo7779,

the cheapest I find is rm359+rm18 postage = rm377! That's nearly rm380 way above my budget! cry.gif

Can you recommend a similar spec psu that is within my budget?

sorry, had to ask.

Many thanks in advance
*
Not sure if lingloong still selling Seasonic G 550 at RM320+ or not, u can try pm him.
Else the alternative that fit your budget maybe Seasonic S 620W RM299.

The 3 PCI-e slots are probably enough for normal 3 way SLI already. The leftover 1 pci-e/cpu is just in case ur graphic cards or cpu require more power by using extra 4, 6 or 8pin connectors.
