For MF100 it won't be so obvious considering the age of the modem

You gain signal boost and stability boost

Yes, it is permanent until you reset it smile.gif

In fact the mdma actually tweaking these value too, mdma is tweaking BAND_PREF for the band option

but the mdma didn't tweak the tx power right? Only able to tweak band frequency. Need to tweak the tx power to 26 and see any improvement. If not much then will tweak it back down.

i think my ZTE MF680 much more happy with this tweak than my E372,..

i guess ZTE MF680 is a power hunger like Option Icon,.. hmm.gif

after tweak E372 effect is so so similar like before,

but for ZTE MF680, consistency is really there, very stable compare to before up down ding dong for sure

thanks for sharing Blacktubi thumbup.gif

I am using MF680 and the funny thing is after the tweak, the signal strength dropped to 54% from 64% in MR3420. Heat is not an issue because I have a panasonic stand fan blowing at number 3 24/7 and its actually very cool to touch

Added on October 8, 2012, 12:38 amOk, I tried it again and repositioned my router a little bit, now I am getting same speed as 26 and 23. Maybe my tower is already at max

normally me with no star IP speed around 9~11Mbps,..

result is after tweaking with the QPST blacktubi method on no star IP

Firmware modification

Does firmware make a difference? Yes

-Certainly, but if you can fine tweak the Qualcomm values, any firmware is lightning fast

Does Maxis modem make a difference with Huawei modem? No

-They are all the same make by Huawei, difference is just on the firmware

Some people tell me Maxis modem is faster!  Flash Maxis firmware then.
-I can tell you latest firmware is the fastest always. ZTE is excluded!!

Does modem batch make a difference? Yes!
-U8 batch is usually the best batch for modem.

Firmware List :
*only good firmware will be posted here, don't worry for bad firmware. All here are good.

If you are using pure Umobile modem, you won't need this tweak

Uninstall every dashboard you have

Umobile connect manager
Connect Manage

Then go to the settings > Add APN > RAS

Flash to the latest firmware then use the signal tweak.

You will see a huge increase in speed.

NDIS should better than RAS and it didn't create a new interface on the control panel.

But that legendary dashboard don't works well with NDIS doh.gif

If you MF680 can Purple w/o issue, it is not required to mod dashboard.
Just use RAS.

If you are using pure Umobile modem, you won't need this tweak

Uninstall every dashboard you have

Umobile connect manager
Connect Manage

Then go to the settings > Add APN > RAS

I not sure with what chipset is icon 505M is using

Yellow light for this, you may try, if QPST detect it, it should be able to use

sorry to ask but how to uninstall umobile dashboard?
(dashboard is the connect manager right?)

i cant find it in programs and features.. also there's no uninstall.exe in the folder..

This software supported for Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit?

I installed the software, but it seems that whenever I launch the QPST it crashes.

I tried running in compatibility mode and run as administrator still the same thing.

Anyone living area Sepang maybe can tweak for me..

How you guys test the values ?

test one by one , start from default value of 23 , till 28 ?

then do a simple DL of 100MB each value? benchmark the fastest DL?

btw, thanks TS, i managed to set my value to 26 from the default of 23 on my E372 now...........

and if i reflash my E372 using your recommended FW on post#1, will the value reset back to default of 23?

Huawei modem is very quality, it is very tight there and very hard to be opened.
Unscrew the screw and use your nails or maybe guitar pick biggrin.gif

It is hidden under a white sticker

Note:Once sticker broken > Warranty voided nod.gif

Not necessary, but a router will supply the enough power for the modem

As what chuah mentioned, don't open it, it's hard if you don't have a mighty hand laugh.gif

That's the hole just below the SIM Card slot, very small (0.3MM)

it dont have to be 26, it can be someties 24, or 25 in TX,..

from screenshot u post, u are log on WCDMA, u need HSDPA, HSPA , HSPA+ or DC-HSPA+ in dashboard in order for getting faster internet WCDMA sometimes zero response in data traffic

u need to try tweak in between 24, 25 too notworthy.gif

Thanks for the feedback, what E367 are you using. Is it OEM or HUAWEI?
Anyway, I got old firmware, wait for a moment.

u can try to use material as :

- Soya Box 1 liter pack ( 1 or more combine )
- strainer
- cookie tin ( those square shape ) Best effect
- stainless steel item like cooking tools like pan / bowl , etc etc
- 100 softdrink can ( never open one )
- sound woofer ( places your modem + router on top : as some said it work as magnetic wave )
- aluminium foil wrap

as for which material fit your area, u need to test it out yourself,..
by tweaking to find perfect direction ,

downloading huge file in IDM while u tweak will help as well as if your direction is perfect, the speed will increase stable

Nobody area Nilai or Sepang can help tweak my modem?

Area Cyberjaya maybe? Weirdly I can't use the software on my pc.

And I have Apple Laptop, doubt I can do that tweaking from a Mac though sad.gif

Simple, when it is the limit of the tower or modem capability, you can't get over it nod.gif
-51dBm is the maximum your modem will ever detect.

@Chuah, did your E372 ever cross 30mbps mark, I can't cross it no mather how many time I tested. Seem like limit for E372 is 30mbps hmm.gif

Each chip perform differently
Only Huawei know which one is good batch. usually good batch gone to the westerns. Last time E367 red bull best batch go to Australia.

Good batch can perform even running at high powered.

That's why some say 25, some say 24 and 26 is the golden number for me.

MF680 will spike sometimes but if fan turned off doh.gif
After my long experience with Android I dare to confirm this. Some device with better processor able to clock at higher speed yet lower voltage.

MF680 will spike sometimes but if fan turned off doh.gif
After my long experience with Android I dare to confirm this. Some device with better processor able to clock at higher speed yet lower voltage.

yea ZTE MF680 love to spikes, everytime use it to test, need to clear cache every round, and using E372 result more stable for sure notworthy.gif

Old generation Mifi Performance is very bad.
7.2 modem hardly see any differences as well, consider upgrading

1st post in first page is to tweak your modem tx power higher a bit than original value

3rd post in first page refer the E367 who dont use with router or MDMA to connect, dontt upgrade the firmware or dashboard,.

it stated very clear,.. all u need just the tweaking tx power for boosting your signal notworthy.gif

Alot thing to do

from mdma + Qualcomm QPST + tp3420

mdma = set band config to 2100
qualcomm = set hex to 26
tp3420 = channel 11 and wireless g

from 3Mb/s

u need to keep the modem temperature cool, signal higher, tweaking must all done, use proper firmware / dahsboard / driver ( even with router, driver is important ), and adding reflecting signal or external antenna , tweak band umts2100 only too

all add up confirm you will have higher speed than before,..

because i personally tested it and experiment it myself,.. notworthy.gif

UTPS 23.005.03.01.134 is compatible with E367 latest firmware but it is a little bit annoying on the telco customized

Yes, just tweak it in your PC and the settings will be saved until you updated the firmware.

Simplified the steps for you

UTPS 23.005.03.01.134 is compatible with E367 latest firmware but it is a little bit annoying on the telco customized
*
so UTPS 23.005.03.01.134 is ads-free?

cuz i saw 3 version of it
1. original chinese dashboard
2. original modified-english dashboard with 5 themes, ads-free and USSD mode
3. same as above, but with indian version of apps, voice calls support and one picturesque theme

i juz tried the second one, that's before i tweak my e367

Hi Sifus,

I'm trying to unlock Maxis E372 (model E372u-8) in order flash new firmware.
But when using the method above, it doesn't work for me. I have punched in 4 times, but to no avail.

Wonder anybody successfully unlocked an maxis E372u-8?

Any advice to go about it?

Thanks in advance.

I actually unlock my accidentally locked E372 like this too sweat.gif (The risk of trying every firmware tongue.gif )
It won't allow you to flash firmware as it required flash code and the generated flash code hardly works
But in certain weird combination it finally accept the flash code and unlock

i did try to unlock mine, end up almost wasted 10 times chance for the correct pin,.

flash code can generate able to flash to mobile partner, but unlock code none of them working, and flash to other firmware or dashboard still end up lock too,.

this E3782 not firmware/dashboard lock, is modem lock if u use DC_Unlocker to scan it , it stated there sweat.gif

You can change when connected but there will be no effect.
You need to reboot your modem for the new configuration to take effect.

from what i know , ping is depends on your upload speed as well as on your area base station/tower u connected to,

if tower is congested/busy, ping will be much higher

test it @ midnight hour like between 3~5am,. u will see the lowest ping ever,..

and for stable, make sure your signal RSSI is not up and down,. if u can keep the RSSI & SNR stable, then your connection will be stable notworthy.gif

( note : wireless world stable max is 70% ~ 90% ),..

i read all the pages, to this 16th pages..

and the last post said that my modem E355 dont support this tweak..

how frustrated i am..huhuhuh

But, i still want to try..i just bought E355 with blacktubi, and never plug in to comp yet..

i already prepare the QPST_2.7.323 and UTPS21.005.20.00.24

So what should i do?

1. Plug in the modem and let it auto run and install the dashboard?
or
2. Intall the QPTS and done the tweaking use value 24,25,26 or 27?
or
3. Install the firmware 1st (UTPS21), then plug in the modem, set the appropriate apn, done the QPTS tweaking and connect?

Thanks in advance.

some area direct plug-in on power usb port is faster than router, its area dependent too as Blacktubi reported best speed of Umobile (31Mbps) on power usb port , no router icon_idea.gif

however, since router only cost you abt rm80, no harm trying, even flashing it to OpenWRT wont kill your wallet if it got bricked tongue.gif

level on measure congested also depends on personal preferences

as some user is happy with 1~2Mbps speed,

as some user calling 7~10Mbps congested

as some user is even trying to tweak even at 25~37Mbps speed

Yes and no, do some reading about it bro, there's bunch of information here about it.

If you talking about stability and consistency of the speed, I'd say yes.

Agreed. nod.gif

But the heat that V2 produce is surprisingly low, I dont have V1 and I don't know how bad is the heat but I can say I don't need a fan for my V2, yet. thumbup.gif

Now I'm only thinking on how to increase the Signal Strength, currently mine is 61%.

I think I need atleast 90%, any idea sifu?

Your MF680 is class B (Not so good batch)

That's what caused the instability

You got no choice except lower the TX Power

IDK hmm.gif

Try plug your modem to your computer then compare it to router.
Is there any speed lost.

But AIO 3G WiFi Router would seriously reduce transmission lost which is great and of course no more heat unstable rclxms.gif

Plug to computer, get 10mb
Plug to router, get 8mb
Conclusion = Transmission lost is serious
If router faster = your computer USB port got problem

Unlikely to be SIM sweat.gif

Use a 3G smartphone, if the modem drop and your phone 3G drop = tower fault
Modem drop and phone no drop = you know lah laugh.gif

You can bridge your 3G to the LAN and share to your 3G through laptop ethernet port
Setup DHCP server on your laptop.
The connect the ethernet from laptop to the WAN on MR3420

MR3420 should get internet like this for you to configure the packages

Set your Wifi connection on your router first with the lan cable before u unplug it from yellow port

u can bridge your 3G connection from your laptop to router using lan cable

meaning u can share out your 3G modem connection in your network and sharing centre Via Lan cable into Router blue lan port,

and use your laptop wifi to log on your router to configure the updates list & install component too

If you are using Aztech HW550-3G, never supercharge your modem or your modem will not be detected anymore.

Now my E372 can't be used in my hometown anymore. sleep.gif Using E353 now, luckily it is with me all the time.

by my opinion, modem is more dedicated to the internet network, so it might work better than a phone, which has a mixture of a lot of stuff, phone currently can only work up till 7.2mbps, but on a modem, you can find modems that run up till 42mbps dual channel

instead of tweak modem tx power and leave it in same old bad spot

Dis..many dun understand dis..

For speed, it's depends on stability to maintain, area of your coverage, QoS of ur tower, the congested condition and the most improtant things are....

My E367, tweak to 27, use on my Mr3420 stock FW, connected via LAN only, always hanged , shown connected but no data pass through , what could be the reason/s ?

I have to manually off the router and on back only can let the data move through........

Could OpenWRT overcome it ?

or is this a better Router?

it's not new, i've been using public IP with that QoS for a long time already. I think I've mentioned in the forum before as well. Anyway, in my area, I prefer to use public IPs over normal IPs cause they are much stable and consistent.

i'm using unetp on legacy. there is another APN meant for Maxis BB which ywkwy mentioned earlier. But i haven't tried that with my legacy SIM.

and like Chuah said, you'll need to request CS to activate it before you can start using it.

kind of a far reach to get that speed on that modem. tongue.gif it should be no issue for DC HSPA+ though. it will depend on the Maxis network in the area that you'll be using it.
