Aiya.

Statement date: 8th Jan
Due date :28th Jan
Rebate kick in 9th Jan

I did not really pay less last time since I m using it anyway.

I dont think we can offset it directly.
Normally if we pay less than the amount in the statement, it will considered as outstanding...

Yes you can. But make sure the rebate already been calculated on your statement.
Been doing this and never encounter an outstanding. icon_idea.gif

Ronnie, you may be right.
I just found that for Ambank card, if the cash rebate already appear in the unbill but yet to appear in the statement, we can actually just offset the value.

I think different bank got different method, need someone to try out.

by the way, thanks @theanswerL2 , got the rewards bank in today! thumbup.gif

Good to hear that, rclxms.gif I might want to do that for coming months, all the while I'm not dare to offset, worried will need to pay the late payment charges if not pay in full.

I don't understand the discussion ... actually offset or not, does it matter? If not offset, it will cut from your next month bill .... unless you decide to not use the card anymore, what difference does it make if it offset your current bill or the next bill ?

I think it depends on when the rebate is credited. If it is credited before the due date, then you can just pay the statement balance - rebate amount. This should be applicable to any credit cards.

I guess the theory behind is:
Total credit within the interest-free period >= statement balance
Then will not get charged for financial fee

Crux of it.. you pay less than Statement Balance, means less cash upfront to the bank.

Not so with CIMB cards..... any CB you get before due date is not counted...

Is this related to the terms where the CB is credited the next month for the CIMB card? Do note that the important point here is "credited" not "earned".

It is tier-based. Any spending after 3k will drop to 0.3%.
