Correct. After 3k will be 0.3%. Depends on your spending I would say, for small spenders like me I will get SCB Gold Mastercard, spend RM1500 and you will get RM50.

scb need meet min spend.
those spend exclude petrol and insurance.

Why not get both? If small spending, use on SCB Gold. If you have a big sum, spend RM1500 on SCB Gold then switch to You:nique or HLB Essential to continue get rebate.

does SCB have annual fee waiver clause like the you:nique (i.e. 12 swipes per year to be eligible for free AF)?

Like I said, depend on your spending. It doesnt affect me much as petrol has other better cards. Insurance will put in this card to get 3.33% rebate.

Hi All,

from ringgitplus, seems like the calculation a bit different than you all mentioned.

at 1st, i was thought if u spent 3K, the effective rate = 1.67%, becoz

0-1000 = rm5
1001-2000 = rm15
2001-3000 = rm30, so total = rm50,

but if u all see the ringgitplus,

All Retail 0.5% RM5 up to RM1000 monthly
All Retail 1.5% RM30 from RM1001 up to RM2000 monthly
All Retail 3% RM90 from RM2001 up to RM3000 monthly

when u spend 3k in one month, u directly fall into 3% rebate category and u will entitled 3% rebate = rm90(3000 X 0.03)
not like split into 1k.

So, anyone who have the card can help me clarify regarding this? Ringgitplus made mistake?

Thanks!

SCB Cashback Gold offers RM50 rebate for RM1500 spending. Effective cashback is 3.33%. Best thing is you can charge on petrol and insurance to achieve the RM1500 spending even though no rebate on these categories.

Your 1st thought correct
Ringgit plus is incorrect, you will never reach the 2nd and 3rd cap mentioned
If ringgit plus is correct i think more people hold this card already

Do you mean that if i got insurance of 500 monthly.
I spend another 1000 in other categories (except insurance and petrol)
Total spend = 1500
Rebate got 1000 * 5% = rm50 ?

Yup, that is the tips given by SCB in the table on how to maximize your rebate. So to me, I will deduct the insurance amount from RM1500 and do my spending normally to get 3.33% effective rebate.
