I don't find any thread specialized for Alliance Bank Credit Card so i decide to open up a humble talk for the cash back Plat and the Visa Infinite card here:

1. Visa Infinite

•5x Timeless Bonus Points on overseas retail spend
•Annual Loyalty Rewards on cumulative spend
•Lifetime Annual Fee Waiver with minimum spend of RM30,000 within a 12-month period
•Complimentary Priority Pass membership card access to lounges worldwide
•Air Miles redemption via Enrich Rewards Program and AirAsia BIG

2. Cash Back Platinum

•Up to 2.0% cash back* on anything, anywhere, anytime.
•Enjoy 0% interest immediately on all your spending for the first 3 months.
•Automatic annual fee waiver i.e. spend a minimum of RM5,000 or swipe 12 times within a 12-month period.
•Timeless Bonus Points that do not expire. 2x Timeless Bonus Points on overseas spend.
•Air Miles via Enrich Rewards Program with Malaysia Airlines.
•Unlimited complimentary access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.•Up to 2.0% cash back* on anything, anywhere, anytime.
•Unlimited complimentary access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.

They might not the best offer card in the market but neither not a bad one. I usually get about cash back of RM68.xx on the Plat card for spending RM5000 on everything monthly.

Any card holders here?

The Alliance Visa Infinite is pretty good, it offers 5X Points for overseas and Unlimited Entries to airport lounge. And best of all, the annual income requirement of RM150K/year is amongst the lowest for a credit card offering Priority Pass Membership Card which grants the cardholder unlimited entries to airport lounge worldwide.

However, regulars here will remember that zenquix did mentioned that Alliance Visa overseas admin fee is higher than their MasterCard and I did confirm it some time back.

And I do have the Alliance Plat Visa which is pretty good because it earns me Points and Cash Back. For my case where I charge my monthly insurance premiums to it including some other expenses, I usually get more than 1.5% in return.

Does alliance bank visa infinite gives normal points as well?

And what's their annual loyalty rewards?

Thinking of applying for one....

Am using cash back platinum for 3yrs now, it was my first cc, n stumbled upon gen-x blog. Thanks to gen-x who talked abt the cashback after a few replies from him, I realized I was not given the cash back for many months, called up alliance bank n open a case they finally credited abt rm300.

It's a great card to hav when monthly spending is above 5k.

VI gives double rewards points for local spending but no real cash back. the rewards require substantial spending - i remember they told me it's around 100k. have to double check.

plus:

airline lounge acccess
timeless points
free for life when you spend 20k the first year which is super easy to achieve
free sub card

minus:

no cash-back sad.gif

i have not done the maths yet but it seems that for spending of around 5k the plat beats the VI unless you really want the lounge access. i only have use for it like 4,5 times a year and the wife maybe 6 times so we're still thinking of "upgrading".

Glad to know you got your cash back credited.

The Alliance Platinum is a great card to have if you spend just below RM5K. Above RM5K, one only earns reward points with the Alliance Plat and no further cash back.

For local spending of RM5K, sure Alliance Plat better over the VI. The Alliance Visa Infinite is good if you want a card that grants you unlimited access to airport lounge.

And Bro, how come you mentioned Annual Fee Free For Life if spend RM20K on the first year? 2nd year onward no need to spend anything? Also, Alliance stated RM30K spending to qualify for annual fee waiver.

on the site, it mentioned
Lifetime Annual Fee Waiver with minimum spend of
RM30,000 within a 12-month period

or do you think it is, annual fee waiver with 30k 12month period spending??

The added word of "Lifetime" makes a huge difference.

Most banks state the same thing, i.e. Lifetime waiver but with conditions. And the joke is, the condition can change if the bank(s) so desire.

This Visa VI is good for frequent flyer.

While the Plat card is good for normal spending beside retails(OCBC Ti and Amex2 give better rebate on retail spending). I use this for my monthly insurance premium and some auto debit payment.

sorry about the 20k it's apparently 30k spending requirement for the first 12 months to get a perpetual waiver of the fees. i got the details from alliance bank when they called me so i might have remembered wrongly.

the annual bonus is a spending discount of some sort and no cash-back. its a measly 500 RM for spending of 100k p.a.

what might be worth considering is having both the plat and the VI (once the annual fee is waived). for overseas spending 5x bonus points is absolutely worth it and you get lounge access for just 60 / 30 RM p.a. they might even offset the goverment tax with points so the access could be free.

one *could* even roll over spending above 5k to the VI since the airline miles conversion is pretty attactive (3000 RM spending gives you 1000 enrich miles). i am not good and remembering to swap cards when required though.

i shall check with my banker if they want to give both cards or will only entertain an upgrade.

Bro, I also use my Plat for insurance and at outlets where AMEX is not welcome.

By the way, I see you still using the Dell Vostro Signature (can't remember what we call this thingy) I designed for Vostro Thread few years ago. Your Vostro still functioning?

From what I understand, first year annual fee is free. Second year and subsequent years depends on past 12 months amount spent. But if what you said about spending just one RM20K or RM30K to get perpetual annual fee waiver, that's a first and it's great.

If you have Alliance Privilege Banking Account, the card is FREE, that's what I was told.

Yes you are right, i am using this card for purchase whereby beside retail/dining or amex is not accepted... as OCBC TI serve better on dining/retail spending... but firmly will control not to above RM5000 swipe/month

I also owned a business plat card whereby earned only a very tiny 0.2% cash rebate for any swipe below rm10k/month...

Good thing about alliance cc are, they reward points never expire.

out of topic: Yeah, i have changed a new vostro beforebut it was stolen last week... now using back the old vostro 1500! am thinking to swipe AMEX to buy a new vostro again...

No reason why you cannot have 2 or more cards from the same bank. At one time I have 5 credit cards from Maybank, now I have 3. As for my UOB, I had 4 credit cards from them, 1 Plat which I have been holding for a decade and 3 issued from Privilege Banking.

from what CS told me you get a perpetual waiver if you spend 30k or more within the first 12 months. and yes, VI is free anyway for privelege banking customers. i guess i will give it a shot and see if it's worth my while to add another into the wallet. i am not a fan of too many cards.

they are not big on promos. it's mainly cash-back and lounge for VI.

but i just did a larger ikea purchase. turns out alliance offers IPP for ikea purchases of 6/12 mths for spening above 1k and apparently up to 36 (!) mths above 2k. that's a decent discount esp. if you consider the cash back and points you get on top. thumbs up for that wink.gif

If you're looking for cash rebates around 5k, Alliance Bank platinum gives out RM68.75 and points (5k points = RM25) which gives you roughly RM93.75 in value.

SCB gives you 0.5%, which is RM25.

There's an old card from Hong Leong bank, called Essential, which gives you 1% on all spending except for petrol. This is RM50 cash back for RM5,000 spending.

Conclusion, Alliance Bank platinum tops this category.
