im using maxis FTTH 30mb but when i play games on steam like dota2 and CSGO. I get really bad and disappointing latency. Even my old 1mb streamyx give better latency then maxis. How ? anybody else face this same problem and how to fix it?

Not sure if you guys ever approach Maxis with the requirement on network latency (ping) of less than 85ms for 95% of the time at BUSY hour as stated in "Quality of Service (Broadband) Standard"? It is a standard any ISP/NSP/NFP has to comply with or penalised for failing to comply. hmm.gif hmm.gif

I was under the impression that installation fees are free, but I have a contractor right now that is about to lay the cable and is asking for 6 bucks per meter and says that he needs to install up to 130 meters. That's gonna set me back 780 bucks. Is that normal?

please give up on maxis iptv... maxis r big fat liar...
been cheating and FFK 2 times this year
they said iptv going to launch next year, but i doubt it... mayb dec2013 la

astro iptv, selling the same price as maxis and using maxis logo... but not maxis

to turn down your hope
1. i called maxis, astro+maxis iptv oni applicable in 4buildings in kl
2. the decoder might not free
3. minimal subscription
4. new contract for iptv (expected)

if u aim for iptv, UniFi is the way to go... they even have sport channels HyppSports(1,2,3,4) HD

No I don't think you can just change the username part. That is just part of the steps. You gotta call them first.

High ping issues is the Thomson router problem. Don't know how many times need to repeat this.

That's not true. Maxis have worse peering compared to TM. That's why the ping is worse. If local ping is good, but international ping to game servers are bad, how is it router problem?

I've tried the Thomson, Unifi's D-link, and WR-841ND with OpenWRT, my brother still complains lousy latency for gaming on Maxis. Change router also no point, Maxis simply not good for gaming, stick to UniFi.

The Thomson router are known for its crap latency/ping issues. Changing it will definitely provide you a better gaming experience but don't know to what extend you are expecting from it.

I played 5 different online games everyday but don't have any issues for latency/ping after changing the router.

My both house currently have UniFi VIP 20 and Maxis 10MB respectively which I don't see a difference in gaming at all.

In fact I'm more dissatisfied with UniFi than Maxis. It has this problem of 'disconnecting' players if more than 3 people are playing the same game. Maxis doesn't.
