yea. dismount the heatsink, take off the fan shroud(the black cover) and put a fan there to blow it.
No need to replace the whole heatsink then.

Those are known as M3 adhesive tape ... it's very sticky and bond strongly between to surface...
it still depend on dimension of the surface that applied with the adhesive tape... |

3m tape is also thinner then normal cello tape
You may try normal double sided tape, but i can confirm that it will melt after about a 2 weeks of use and removal of it is hard as heck :S |

tot of buying the cooler master coolviva tht is only rm36 new for heatpipe technologies to cool down my x800xl with r480 core, then i decided to go tro my heatsink collection and i found some decend ramsink and a cpu heatsik from my socket A cpu i think
this is how it looks like ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() adn this is how i stick the ramsink on, some super glue at each corner ![]() ![]() yep its my network card alright... end result from this 400core 500mem ![]() bcome this, clock at 550core and 600mem ![]() with the stock cooler i can barely maintain it at 80 under load, idle around 53, thts without oc, cant oc cos it will hang. with this mod and the oc speed im doing a stable 60 at full load, and thts with the fan set at medium speed, idle drop to 41!! |

Guys, wondering, i have taken out my GTS heatsink the other day and clean up that crazy big chunk of TIM around. Also taken out all the thermal pads there and replace them with AS5.
Is it ok or it would be best to use back thermal pads? |

QUOTE(xtorm @ Nov 12 2007, 02:56 PM) wow u have a nice rig Thanks. as5 is way better then thermal pads, just made sure the heatsinks seat properly on the mem. I did that already but still, there is not much difference between the temperature. Still around the range of 60c, which is about 1 - 2c lower only..LOL.. |

AS5 takes time to cure.... so let it be first and see how later on....might gt another 2-3c drop supposedly. but ive heard real good results on MX-1 and MX-2. up to 10C drop on the 2900XT. |

@Zicron
hahah that's good piece of information .. I wonder the load condition rather than idle .. coz load temperature is the biggest issue with this hot babe ... \ too hot !!! hahah .. after reading the review it shows high at 60c but still better than stock cooler at 90c ... btw I was actually almost wanted to buy one to try it out .. but it would be hard for me to sell it away over here .. so still stick with WC .... cos my idle and load is at 38c / 44c This post has been edited by Doom: Nov 15 2007, 08:50 PM |

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Nov 15 2007, 04:17 PM) @akachester Well, at first, i thought of applying the MX-1 instead of the AS5 but sadly, i forgot where i put my tube of TIM already. LOL..All i could get my hands on during that moment was the AS5 and Chill Factor. Since the TR TIM doesnt really impress me until today, i decided to put the AS5 instead. MX-2, i have yet to get my hands on one ..LOL..
