@zahri

ur 6600 is AGP right??? does it have a HSI Bridge chip? if it does...check to make sure ur HSI bridge heatsink is SEPERATE from ur main GPU heatsink. otherwise...ur gonna have a tough time finding a cooler that can fit ur GC.

EDIT: btw, i would also recommend the Zalman VF700 heatsink. or u could also try the VF900. but not sure if the VF900 can fit ur card or not

can get the card from the bulk section.

there are a few sellers there selling the card. just make sure to lookout for the one that comes with the Zalman fan coz theres also a version that comes with the small fan.

I got 1 question here, how to check
mine Gecube ATI Redeon 9550 Extreme Edition 256MB DDR2 128Bit.
Is it can check by ATI tool ?? or my gc does not supports. ??
*
how to check what??? the temps??

9550 doesnt have temp monitor.

o if u wanna check temps ur gonna need an external temp monitor.

@akachester
AS5 takes time to cure.... so let it be first and see how later on....might gt another 2-3c drop supposedly.

but ive heard real good results on MX-1 and MX-2. up to 10C drop on the 2900XT.

That's with fan or without fan? blink.gif
Don't tell me you get that kind of temps with the S1 on passive mode. shocking.gif

By the way Doom, you can still put a fan on the S1 if you put the soundcard on the first PCI slot.
With that, you'd have bigger room for the fan to absorb more air and blow it to the heatsink.

Just my suggestion though. smile.gif

actually the soundcard is best kept as far away from the GC as possible...i remember reading somewhere that audio wise, the GC is the biggest 'noise' maker in a PC... cant remember where i read this..and i havent even bothered trying to test it....

QUOTE(Doom @ Jan 9 2008, 12:39 AM)
hahah .. .like LittleLinnet said ... the fan at the 5.25" slot is enough to keep the card at such temperature ...

I can't believe it myself .. but it does works that well ..

The reason I don't want to put the fan beneath the cooler because I want a smooth airflow direction ..

from intake through south bridge, gc and sound card then exhaust through the rear PCI slot ...
*
actually if u put the soundcard above like shawty suggested, and add a low cfm fan on the pci slots ur airflow will be better man...itll help to make sure theres no heat trapped under the GC. (unless ur front fan is strong enough to push it out the back la)

but....doing that....will contradict with what i said to shawty above laugh.gif

after reading the last few pages....i have to ask...

why are people so bothered about 8xC load temps??? if ur idling at 8x ok la...understandable la if u wanna panic....but no...under load u see 8xC then straight wanna waste money buy aftermarket cooler....those chips are built to handle even over 100C.

if ur worried about the temps...instead of spending 100s for aftermarket coolers...hows about improving airflow at ur GC area first? might even give u a 10C drop if done properly (like my case with the PCI Slot blower)..or mebbe even buy a chapalang RM5 fan to help supply fresh cool air to the GC coolers...

seriously...8xC is NORMAL. most mid-high end GCs these days are giving load temps around 8xC....like previously said....98C on load then yeah...feel free to get worried.

the only other reasons i see to buy aftermarket coolers would be noise and bling...buying aftermarket coolers coz u panicked looking at 8xC load temps is doh.gif

if this post offended anyone.....live with it.

there arent many air cooling aftermarket heatsinks for the 9800GX2 as far as i know....even WC oso not that many waterblocks available.

like my suggestion above...i think u should improve air flow/circulation in ur GC area... add a fan to the PCI slot or side panel to exhaust hot air from the GC so that it doesnt get recycled by the GC's intake fan. and add another fan to supply fresh cool air to the GC's intake fan

u guys lucky enough not facing any compatibility with aftermarket cooler. me so jealous ler.  tongue.gif

now every time playing games i set fan speed 70%. not too loud as the sounds from speaker control the room.  cool2.gif

hmm.gif  i will snap photos when im ready to show my mess ever cable mgtdoh.gif
*
cable management....thats ur first problem...

second, the stock lian li A10 side patent fan thing is useless. not much air going out oso...so really no point mentioning it. the only reason i only install mine is coz i have it so might as well use it. makes no difference in temps for me.

u would probably get better temps with a PCI Slot blower or tying an 80mm fan to the PCI Slots under the GC.

this RM10 PCI Slot Blower from ALL IT managed to bring my 1st card temps down by 10c...

also tie a fan to ur rom bays, near the GC. so that it can help push fresh air to the GC's fan.
