hey guys dont laugh at me but what i did to cool down my graphic card was removing cover on my 8800 gts and blow a direct hi air flow 12cm fan to it coolin sink..this is an o.c setting card(riva tuner) running at the most stable point that i can get(thanks to cstkl1 for helping me a lot to achieved this oc setting).....here is the screen shot of the temperature...at least it a bit ok than on standard setting/stock cooling up to 79==degreesAttached Image i mount my 12cm fan upward straight blow but blocking 2 pci port which i had no use for the time being...lousy mod but dose the job well..that reading is af ter playing some heave games so the highest can get is 68c...lol...

BRO,noob in the house here my fren just bought a 8600GTS by gigabyte it uses silent pipe system for cooling, when i installed the card and played bioshock i can play the game max 5min sometimes less the game freezes, checked with gigabyte utility the GPU runnin up to 91degrees after that is the best started to have artifacts when playing DIVX video especially the hi res videos, just wanna ask is the silent pipe cooling system not enough to cool down the card? By the way the card is running stock never OC it at all.If i install a exhaust fan underneath the 8600GTS will it help?Wana upgrade the cooling system on the 8600GTS afraid that warranty will void and my fren is on a tight budget after buying that card.

It depend on the airflow of the case, however the silent pipe doesn't works very well ..

grab a third party cooler and the temperature would gone down a lot ... probably by 30c ..

a thermalright HR-03 Rev A would do the job best but it's kind of expensive...

so far there's no other official cooler .. Accelero S1 seems to be able to fit but need tiny bit of mod

The turbo mode works well when u have a case with slightly poor airflow .. it helps to facilitate heat spreading ...

the performance gained according to reviews is about 10c to 15c .. vary from one setup to another coz it's subjective to case setup ...

if u really want to cool down just grab a 9 cm fan and mount it horizontal with simple mod ... it would does the job better than the turbo module..

i ended up buyin an exhaust fan and a super noisy fast blower, fixed the exhaust fan under the GC and the noisy fast fan beside the card mounted on the side panel walla the 8600GTS is now playable at 40degrees when playin game.

Added on October 29, 2007, 8:01 pmbro im usin a XFX 8600GT i bought the OC version with 600mhz core equipped with zalman as i know that GC is already pre OC from the manufacturer do i have more room to OC bcos the manufacturer has already OC it already.

you could but may not by par since it's clocked version ..

usually clocked version are just card manufactured with good core and mem that could handle the over clock margin ... .

hi there..i wanna ask if its normal for a GC temperature to go up alongside its age. when i first bought my card in last years September, its idle temp was 55-58 degree celcius. now after 1year 2months, the idle load will always be higher than 60. normally at 61-64 degrees.

ive already changed the paste n suck out dust from the hsf quite a few times. anyone experiencing the same?

Have u added any more drives into ur casing more devices will generate more heat in ur casing.or most probably ur GC fan not operating at its correct RPM need to replace new fan in that case.

you mounted it wrongly tongue.gif
But normally no, the temps stay the same or better (because using better and better TIM mar haha)

unless your hsf fan is losing its rpm due to aging smile.gif

that would pretty much depend on the type of cooler that used by ur fan ..

however most of time most fan that comes with the heat sink can be removed but hard to find replacement part ..

so it all depend on ur heat sink fan design ...
