QUOTE(Mavik @ Aug 9 2012, 11:02 PM) Actually it has nothing to do with the DSG gearbox. It is due to the fact now that your foot pedal is electronic, not like your usual fly by wire throttle. Because it is electronic, there will be a slight delay as when you press on your pedal and it goes to the ECU and then to the engine. Happens to a lot of the conti cars. A lot of people don't face this so much when they remap their cars or when they use Sprint Booster on their VW. Actually you got it wrong. Fly by wire or drive by wire literally means electronic pedal and not old tech cabled throttled. Because it is electronic or drive by wire, the throttle respond actually is more instantaneous or responsive vs the old tech cabled linked throttle where you have slacks in the cable wires to the throttle body. Unfortunately the terms drive by wire actually not referring throttle cable wire but rather electronic version. The lagging or delay felt its due more to inexperienced dsg user or expectation that created or conditioned by the conventional AT. This post has been edited by gamenoob: Aug 12 2012, 05:27 PM |

Could be me not used to the DSG, though when I drove the Golf GTI, I didn't experience the same issue. I'm more of a manual car driver and I find even the auto in my wife's Civic to lag a bit but that's probably just me. |

Hmmm, I find no references of the Golf sporting DbW technology.Because it is electronic or drive by wire, the throttle respond actually is more instantaneous or responsive vs the old tech cabled linked throttle where you have slacks in the cable wires to the throttle body. QUOTE(zweimmk @ Aug 8 2012, 08:57 PM) Nice drive, comfortable, nice interior although there are some hard plastics. Aside from some annoying rattling from time to time, otherwise a good car. i was told some owners want the electrical folding mirror so the SC is sourcing for the part What it does not have compared to some of its rivals (Japanese/Europeans) - Keyless Entry and Smart Start System (Key push, not key turn) - Tire pressure monitoring system - Full Electric seats (semi-electric) - Electric folding windows (it's manual) - Solar and Security film - Panoramic Roof Go test drive to get a good feel of the car as for the rattling, i read on a forum that you should send it back to SC for rectification.. i hear some squeaky sounds during test drive |

Hi everyone, is it possible to book a 2013 car now since its still 5 months away to new year. My reason is that, since waiting period according to the SA is at least 3 months for the next batch, it will be year end and lose on the value. Might as well take the 2013 model. What do you guys think? Thanks!!

Rattling n squeaks are just the normal bitas for the rattling, i read on a forum that you should send it back to SC for rectification.. i hear some squeaky sounds during test drive Other serious issues are with the dsg itself, the mechatronic unit at clutch are the main issues Other than that misfiring due to plugs and coil pack Worst bit is the service ctr. They take at least a week to diagnose an issue, but not fixing it. Vw msia better buckle up ang get their act together, and not looking only at sales volume. U can imagine the frustration over it. At the rate they are going, could b another toyota-ish scenario This post has been edited by fookyuan: Aug 13 2012, 02:19 AM |

QUOTE(SeraphimGecko @ Aug 13 2012, 01:58 PM) even VW SG same problem with SC. A lot of my friends buy 2nd hand now coz the damn COE is so expensive. Plus they have a robust 2nd hand market there, whether old car or new car also enjoy the same 1.88% interest rate. http://www.vagsg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28 seemed alot of vw owners jump ship already: http://www.vagsg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72629 my buddy in SG still enjoying his GTi though. If you look at the car prices there, it makes more sense buying a Mercedes C180 as it's only 20k apart from the Camry or similar sized car. Compromise is surely on the size and features la, but heck, it's still a merc. |

QUOTE(auronthas @ Aug 10 2012, 07:46 PM) I think I almost figure it out, it's not in MFD data but rather at RCD 310. Setting > Gala - set the speed-dependent volume adjustment. sorry, you are right. Need to set at the radio player there, under settings. Same with during reverse, you can set the radio volume to off, minimum, medium or same-loudness. |
