look like maxis had block file sharing sites like rapidshare and filefactory
downloading 100M+ file always stop or crash before download completed

mediafire and some lesser people use one can download without problem

tried on both private and public IPs
*
ya maxis disturb the download... confirm here...
anyway to bypass it??

Interesting, your upload and download speed seems good even though the wifi is just 1 bar. What phone/tablet is this?

Samsung Google Nexus (GNex) Android phone

many negative comments over this forum.
So, it is worth to switch to Unifi5M to Maxis10M?
*
depend on user, if want less problem i think should stay with the unifi 5M.
for those already has unifi and thinking of switching to maxis 10M....
if contract not yet finish better stay with it, no worth to pay the forfeit from tm for this.
Wait till all the maxis user pronblem solve then only decide lah.

Before you buy the expensive homeplug, you may want to consider this alternative solution with zero cost.
I solved the weak wifi signal problem with my redundant wifi router Linksys WRT54G previously used for Streamyx.
I just changed the Wireless setting of Linksys to AP mode and plug it LAN to LAN to Thomson.
Now I have 2 SSIDs, one from Linksys (stronger) and another from Thomson (weaker).
Speed test done indicated no different in speed and latency.
Thomson router performance dropped when too many wifi devices logged in at the same time so I hope Linksys can share the load and solve this problem too.

If want full signal even 2 houses away, buy this high gained USB Wifi adapter (if you are using PC or laptop).
I got one extra unit (in sealed box) to let go for RM50.

I think you can disable the wifi at thomson, to gain more stability plus less signal interference.
without the wifi function i believe the thomson router will generate less heat and less heat the router won't hang easily. icon_rolleyes.gif

might be another problem...I could never download from rapidshare this same way...more than 100kb and it stops. This was when I was using StreamyX. Haven't tested with Maxis.

ok just to share some info with those having issue of asymmetric download/upload speed....

previously i wrote in this forum that my desktop pc was having 10Mbps download but a wierd 0.2Mbps upload... so i suspected there must be something wrong with my Windows 7...

apparently the problem was caused by a software, namely ASUS AI Suite II.. after uninstalling the software, my desktop PC now have 9Mbps download/ 9Mbps upload when i do speedtest, and page loading kick in quicker...

so if your pc internet connection behaving strangely, check if there's anything screwing it up...

for the thomson, you need to restart the thomson or goto telephony - configure - keyin again the number and password and save it to test it, whether the voip is ativate or not. it won't auto register the voip by itself.
