work permit

If they applied EP for you and it gets rejected, they can apply work permit for you instead. Shouldn't be a big problem, but do take note that some banks might not be keen to re-apply the work permit if the reject reason is due to your own issue (e.g. lack of a diploma, assuming you haven't completed diploma as you said so).

It might be best to just inform the hiring bank of your concerns and let their HR get back to you instead. At least if it fails, they are already pre-empt for it.

Hi, I'm new here. I need some advise.

Currently i have accepted a job in Singapore. And I have been work for 3 days. I think I have chosen the work position. I start feel I don't really like and interested in this job actually. I have went go the working permit place to submit all my stuff on Tuesday and I will be getting my S pass this Saturday.

What do if I quit this job within 1 month, will my future working in Singapore be affected? Will be hard for me to apply working pass?

Guys - I read somewhere in this forum (from 2009) that Malaysians with employment pass and staying in Singapore can drive a Malaysian registered car if :

- Have Employment pass
- Only for the first 12 months of holding employment pass
- Have a valid malaysian license

Can anyone advise if this is still true and send me the link to some official website? Can't seem to find it

Thanks!

Added on July 4, 2012, 10:55 pmOh nvm sad.gif .. shucks .. we are only talking about license here. Not a Malaysian registered car. Guess it's still a no go to drive a Malaysian registered car in Singapore with an employment pass sad.gif

Read somewhere someone did this for 3 years and paid about SGD440 a month ... wonder how he managed to ?

Don't mix up the 2 things.

1. The regulation of drivers ie. drivers' licence is regulated by Traffic Police. It determines WHO can drive (verb). Not WHAT you drive. It's all about which licence you need depending on your residency status and your length of stay in Singapore.

2. WHAT you drive ie. the regulation of vehicles is by LTA (Land Transport Authority). It determines WHAT you can drive according to your status, assuming you are already a WHO under #1 by having a qualified driving licence for your particular status.

There is absolutely no causal relationship where the such & such driving licence you have allows you to drive such & such registered car.

It's your status (residency and residence) which determines which driving licence you need to be able to drive.

And then it's again your status (residency and residence) which determines which car you need to drive... assuming you have the appropriate driving licence from above.

My mom worked with a company for barely a month under work permit and she moved to another company for better pay/work hours. Don't see any harm/issues for her.

I am holding EP and changed two jobs in the recent three months time, never gotten any issue also. I think as long the hiring company does not see any problem in hiring you, you shouldn't have much hassles though I do think you might want to give a bit more time with the current job before running - unless the new job is paying damn well or holds great exposure that you want to build on.
