QUOTE(megadisc @ Jul 3 2012, 10:10 PM) you are not an employee until the offer letter is signed by both parties. the rest of the question is redundant Even you have signed the offer letter doesn't mean you will get the job... employment pass is the crucial thing that determine whether you can work in Singapore or not. They can still abolished the offer letter due to unable to get the employment pass without compensate anything.

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 3 2012, 04:44 PM) Education (your qualifications), skillset (what you can do), experience (what you have done), network (who you can influence) and reputation (what you can influence). I agree with network skills. I think most companies would like you to be able to socialize with others. I mean who wants to hire someone who cannot mingle with clients right?

In Singapore, IT jobs are highly paid. May be higher than 7k, depending on the company. Similarly to the finance industry. Also depends on your skill sets.

I mean who wants to hire someone who cannot mingle with clients right? I actually mean your network of people. Not how well you mingle with people. Do you have a network of customers or suppliers aligned to you, which the company will benefit from if they hire you. Do you have a network of professional peers and acquaintances if you need to obtain expertise, advice, hiring etc. Being able to deal with people is a given. It's like not having a criminal background. You need before you can start. You don't even need to put it down as a strength.

MoM presented the data on a median basis. Having said that, it does not mean the data is only relevant to the average Joes. The lower 25th percentile can strive to reach the median while the top 75th percentile has a rock bottom number as benchmark to refer to when negotiating contracts.

I think it's down to a liberal use of the words "Chief Whatever Officer". It's quite possible that the one and only IT guy in an Abang Ah Beng Pty Ltd is classified as CTO/CIO.

QUOTE(Sayid Kasturi @ Jul 4 2012, 10:56 AM) Seriously? I thought he meant why so high. Maybe I got it wrong. I meant why so low. $7k median for a C xO-level staff sounds wrong to me, especially since the same data, other management staff like IT service manager, Research and development manager, Software and applications manager, all earn more.

hi guys.. need some advice.
i have been working in singapore for 2 years now, in a bank doing sales.
i have total about 7 years bank experience. im still employed in the current bank. i have recently been offered another role in another bank, i will be signing the offer letter this friday. i need some advice.
the company will be paying me 2.5k base, 500 allowance. i dont have a completed diploma. only the results transcript from my college. they requested me to fill up the employment pass form, which looks like an application for an EP and not a work permit.
my concern is, will MOM apprv without having a completed diploma? and if it is not apprv, will/can they just apply for a work permit instead?
