Never take the lay-off package. You've already secured a new job. Don't put your new EP approval on chopping board over some manager's last-ditch effort in covering their backside.

I'll negotiate a later start date without taking the lay-off package. Instead I'll take a nice and sweet in-between-job vacation.

looking for room/roomate wanna move in starting october 1st til end of this yr, prefer some where near buona vista/commonwealth.. drop me PM ..!

Good luck trying to find a single room for that short period of time since most homeowners/agents preference would be a 1 year contract.

I was considering coming back to singapore for a short term contract but trying to find a flexible housing agreement was difficult to say the least.

I meant we should not have to work extra hard just to get same pay as locals. I hate exploitation.
*
How is the exploitation? It's a fact of life. Prove to them why they should bother to spend more money to apply/extend your EP when they can save that money and just employ a local to do the job.

A few singaporean employers can offset the cost of applying or extending an EP since its much less expensive then applying for a work permit or s pass holder. As a foreigner, they may also give you less annual leave, for salary "may not be" on par with a singaporean colleague and then there is the unwritten expectation that you should work longer and harder then your singaporean counterpart.

Is there any different for people start out from quality university and people start out from normal university?
Normal university grad does not possess quality of experience as quality university grad?

If you just renewed your permit or re-entry permit, then you got to wait a week before the system gets updated. Else just go to ICA building in Lavender to update your infor or check on it.

its the REP that expires mah..not the PR..REP(re-entry permit)...so I'm not sure if you can renew that REP instead of applying EP again?

Not the box. Depends whether it's new or not ... If still new in box then it's taxable ... My sister-in-law happened to bring external HDD that new in box and custom officer invited her into their room. However, it's for own use then she opened from the box and she free to go.

so, if it's new but not in box then no tax? But if it's in box then tax?
