"Assume company pay the same for EP and PR."

EP take home 100%
PR : 36% goes to CPF, take home 64%.

So an EP takes 36% cut to his take home pay. That's what I said in ealier post.

Just tht Employer CPF contribution is not stated on your monthly statement.

Added on August 14, 2012, 9:28 pmSo far so good. IF I don't gets my PR renewed, I would ask for EP with at least 36% increase for the same jobs.

Hey friend, PR take home is 80% for 3rd year PR onward and not 64%. It's because employee portion is 20% and Employer is 16%. End up total CPF is 36%. So only 20% was deducted from your salary and the other 16% paid by employer.

However, it's not always 80% take home. Why? Because of the capping of 5000. For example, if your salary 10000, CPF deducted from your salary is only 1000 (5000x20%). So it's 10% of your salary.

If you don't get your PR renew, you can ask for 16% increment but not 36%. Using salary of 10000 as an example, your take home is 9000. If you ask for 36% increment with EP then it will be 13600. If you are PR only get 10000 + 800 (5000x16% contribute by employer). So based on 10000 salary, you should ask for 8% increase only biggrin.gif Therefore, it's very depend on your salary.

May I know what is the rental for a room with bathroom in HDB? Thanks.

So you meant the item is taxable or not depending on the box?
*
Not the box. Depends whether it's new or not ... If still new in box then it's taxable ... My sister-in-law happened to bring external HDD that new in box and custom officer invited her into their room. However, it's for own use then she opened from the box and she free to go.

so, if it's new but not in box then no tax? But if it's in box then tax?

Please excuse me for using "new in box" as the term and seems that you picking on me with that word. Do let me define that new in box = sealed item = unopened item. In order word, it's new item that still sealed in their package (e.g, box).

I believed anyone know that anything sealed in their package is new item and the custom officer could tell too. Beside, I don't think they have guideline to define new item or not when it's not sealed in box. Because people could use their things for months and it's still look new.
