Not from start to finish. When I was informed that it going to take sometime (you know what that means), I just took back my lappy and do it myself with my own money and never look back to ASUS, at least until they really, really improve their service.

That's a good idea. I keep getting the impression that some of the techs there don't have any idea on how to repair the laptop. I'd much prefer to repair it myself too.

Why didn't they stock up parts, particularly for models in Malaysian market.

Do we really need to actually show them how to manage their own (contractor) service centre? What a shame. doh.gif

Are we the only group of people that think they need to have adequate stock for their Malaysia operation instead of order when needed for most of the parts?

Malaysian Customer Service, always takes us for granted, unlike their international counterpart! vmad.gif

Those impacted need to put in problem / inconvenience letter to ASUS HQ and make major noise about it.

SO far, Dell on-site support had been the best in Msia.

You guys know that Asus do not field their own staff in KL right? Like most mainstream brands such as HP, mostly they sub-contract it to a 3rd party company to service their brand.
As far as I understand, there are no REAL Asus service centre in Malaysia.

Nevertheless it is in their best interest to make sure their sub-con do the job properly, don't you think?

Am i late to the party? Yeah, i hate ASUS too...their SC is hopeless. I am gonna buy a new lappy soon, 100% won't be ASUS, I even have problems with warranty on their mobos, wasting my time.

DO NOT BUY ASUS. (at least the laptop).

This is so true. Had a terrible, terrible experience with these sub-contract service centre with my BenQ laptop last year. Paid RM280 to extend my warranty to a two-year onsite service (standard is one year) in late 2009. Last year sent to service centre due to overheat issues and also some Fn buttons couldn't work. Sent it to the SC, they diagnosed the problems as dust buildup in the fan, and motherboard issue for the Fn button. They then told me there was no motherboard in stock, had to import from Taiwan etc etc. Being a noob in this I just agreed. In the end they replaced the motherboard and also my old HDD coz got bad sectors (which I thought was nice).

Got my laptop back about 3 weeks later, and did some digging. Turns out the reason why some Fn buttons wasn't working was because of a bad driver installation, and not because of the motherboard AT ALL. Also, I realised that the GPU may have been downclocked to reduce heat. But that was the least of my problems.

Less than six months after the repair, the motherboard's IC short-circuited while I was surfing the net. Since the warranty period was over, I was quoted RM700 from the SC to replace the motherboard again. Decided not to coz of the price, so went to a shop in lowyat to change the IC. Three months later it short-circuited again. And just last week the same thing happened.

After the second time the motherboard died I went and asked here coz I was very suspicious of the quality of the motherboard. Have a look at the last post, and judge for yourselves.

So guys, tread very carefully when dealing with service centres, official ones or not. Maybe Dell, even with their less powerful hardware, may just end up a better choice. My laptop is now a ticking time bomb ohmy.gif
