My 8 months old Asus notebook started giving problem. Sent it to the Asus shop in Mid Valley where I purchased it.

The mid vally Asus store has posters proudly pasted on their walls claiming their notebooks are so reliable compared to other brands based on some "suvey"

They mentioned it's some graphic card problem and said they will send it to the service centre.

Last week (week 3) called them, they said they changed the graphics card, but the problem still exist, and they suspected hard disk, and they said they will call me once it's done, I was still talking to him but he pretended that he could not hear me, and he said "Thank you, thank you...bye" and abruptly ended the converstation which only lasted 1 minute.

It's going to be 1 month now and no news yet. Does it take additional 1 more week to replace a hard disk? I think he was not telling the truth. I was sceptical initially choosing an Asus notebook. But my wife wanted it due to the larger screen and higher specs compared to other notebook at a similar price. God knows how long I'll have to wait, and whether the end result will be good.

Some of these Asus notebooks tend to deviate from the industry standard of notebook design, i.e. using non-standard high voltage chips, powerful nvidia processors and other bells and whistles. Wonder how these components actually work together.

Their motherboards are really good, but their notebooks? I'm not too sure.

I have experience dealing with Dell notebooks and their after sales is top notch.

Laptop servicing can take up to 2 months depending on the severity of the issue...
I think when buying brands without on-site supports, one must be prepared and expect 2 months repair time to avoid frustration and dissapointment hmm.gif

I think the best way now is to have two laptops (based on personal experience), so you won't be that rushing in getting your laptop back from the service center laugh.gif

I think whether or not their service is good depends on whether the replacement part is available and where u claim the warranty. My Nseries keyboard wasnt functioning before and i brought it straight to the asus royal club at kl even though its far from my place without warranty card, receipt whatever. They checked for a while, said its the keyboard and thankfully the part is available. So i waited about 20minutes and their done replacing the keyboard with a new one smile.gif so from my experience i wouldnt say that their service is bad.

my experience will Dell beg to differ. at most, the longest last no longer than 2 weeks and that was changing the keyboard to found out a few days later it was the motherboard that cause the problem.

and laptop repair should take NO LONGER than 2 weeks in any scenario. if people don't need the mobile computing with them, they would have just gotten a PC and put it at home. even a week without a laptop can cause a lot of annoyance. every companies should practice good after sales service & hire competent people to man their service centers and stock their repair centers with good inventory control so that any laptop that was bring in/walk in, simple problem can be determine quickly and solve immediately.

My case. I bought on March 2012. In 6 days, the screen cracked itself; system keep freezing and unable to boot into window on a scale of 30% everytime I on it. The ASUS engineer said I SIT ON THE NETBOOK that is why it cracked. FYI, it cracked on the side and I SWEAR I have not knocked or dropped it.

If only you were to know my weight, I would have cracked the whole netbook instead of the side only if I were sitting on it. I wonder how they employ their ENGINEER.

I went and explain to them @ LowYat, they say they'll change it for me for free. After waiting for 2 weeks, I call back and ask for status.

Their CS is very rude as when I ask for estimated date, they reply "I'm only a middle person reporting to you the status. Other than that I do not know". I ask again for the rough estimation date and she replied me "You're not a technical person Ms. You don't understand how the procedures of troubleshooting. It takes a lot of time, not only one day or two days!". B*tch. I send in a complaint letter to ASUS immediately.

Next 2 days, their SMART "ENGINEER" called me and said "Miss you need to pay RM350 for the cracked LCD. If you agree we'll change it". I got very angry as the LYN counter service guy told me it should be FREE OF CHARGE. From this issue, it is very obvious ASUS have INTERNAL COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS!

After 1 months I finally get my netbook back. Problem is, the freezing part is still there and the problem that it sometimes fail to boot to window still exist. I have to send back in 5 days after collecting. This time I waited for 3 weeks to collect it back. When I collect, no more freezing problem BUT the ratio for it to boot into window had INCREASE to 70%.

I get very pissed off spending my time through and from the LY Plaza. Finally I told them I want a new unit as I believe it's wasting my time over their LOW QUALITY ASSURANCE/ CONTROL products.

The counter guy @ receiver at LY Plaza told me replacement will take up to 3 weeks. At the 2nd week, I have been calling up ASUS CS to check out the status of replacement as I know if we DONT, they DONT BOTHER.

1st CS Girl name MIAKELLY answered, replied that she'll get me an status in 48 hours. So i hang. Waited for 72 hours, no one called. So I call back again.

2nd CS Girl name Mandy. I told her what happen to the 1st CS girl she apologized but she did the same. Never call back too.

I call after 1 week, a guy CS answered name CJ. I requested him to call back in the same day for an update of the status cause it's very unfair for me. Waited till 5.30PM that day, never call back!

I call again in the same day, a CS guy name Ravi answered and promised to get the Manager in-charge Ms. Mae to call back next day before 3PM.

Never call AGAIN! I ring them at 4PM, the guy said the manager was busy. I was very mad and insisted she called back immediately. So she did and she requested for a copy of invoice and I shall get my replacement on Tuesday.

I sent the copy via email, no one acknowledge my email. So I ring them and ask have they receive. A chinese CS guy answered and said they need another 2-4 weeks to process my new unit.

I said I wanna talk to the manager only, as she promised me other thing. But at the end, she didnt call me back.

I hereby hope that every consumer who suffer with ASUS CRAP SERVICES to voice out so that other consumer will not fall into this kind of crappy situation! And the best part is, ASUS DONT GIVE A DAMN to IMPROVE! mad.gif

This is my first purchases with Asus, it will be the last too. I regretted choosing Asus. Should have stick with Dell. Dell provide the best CS. Immediately next day service until it's fix infront of me. Unlike stupid unreliable irresponsible ASUS.

they just DON'T CARE.
i have written official letter and email. Even called up to complaint, all no response despite saying they will "get back to me". and by just reading this thread, u guys can see that there are so many unsatisfied customer and asus doesn't seems to care about all this problems at all. and yes, there are many asus representative reading this thread, trust me, they are sitting back and laughing all the way reading at all our complaints.

this thread will serve as an reminder to anyone who planning to buy asus, do not buy asus.

If its one month then I think it is better for user to spend just a little more money to get Dell instead.

First a42jv I bought had screen defects (dead, stuck pixels). Exchanged for a new one immediately the next day. But after 2 years the laptop suddenly cannot be turned on.
