In term of price and build quality, I would say they are one of the reasonable one. But in term of service, I can't say the same. Just read around lowyat forum and you will know why.

Just don't send to ASUS SC.
There are tons of computer repairing stores.

If you have to pay the repair (out side store) during warranty, then by all means just get lappy from other manufacturer.

Problem was, I didn't bother to check the original motherboard's serial no. etc because I didn't think it had any problem. I only backed up my hdd (luckily). So how to say that the new motherboard is lower quality/recon/second hand? Next time will definitely write EVERYTHING down about the laptop's hardware before sending to SC.

It's a pity, because like everyone mentioned, Asus has good hardware combination and also above average build quality. They even have two years global warranty. Sadly the local Asus SC bringing its name down.

What's the use of specs if it breaks down and no service, no parts and makes you wait for months on end with no solution??

Whats a horrible service and yet many buyer chassing after Asus product. Asus really know how to get people heart but didn't really take care of them.
The only way to improve their service if and only if their business are seriously affected by their poor service imo. So, the choice is still with us.
Unfortunately, their sales still doing very well eventhough their service are unsatisfactory doh.gif . So, who to blame ah??? hmm.gif

Blame the local service center and the principal who is in charge of managing the region.

I hate Dell because they have so few AMD models. Nevertheless, I like they way they do on-site support service because there is no way the can tell you they change this and that without actually do it because they change it in from of you. That is the beauty of Dell on-site support. If only they carry more AMD models.

Don't blame Dell. Most brand carries majority intel laptops. Intel is simply better.

They did change the hdd, coz my original one was by hitachi, and the new one is samsung. There's a high chance that the motherboard was taken because of its quality (original OEM part) and replaced with an aftermarket mobo. After all, who can check? Only the people with lots of experience in PC hardware can really tell you whether it's the same or not. So in the end, these third party contracted SCs profit like hell. vmad.gif

For me I don't like Dell because of their uncompetitive hardware for their prices. But, so far never heard any complaints for their after service. So sad for us consumers, must compromise between performance and after sales service ohmy.gif

I know that, but Dell offers the least choice for AMD. The was my point.
