QUOTE(nakTT @ Jun 28 2012, 09:35 AM) Not from start to finish. When I was informed that it going to take sometime (you know what that means), I just took back my lappy and do it myself with my own money and never look back to ASUS, at least until they really, really improve their service. That's a good idea. I keep getting the impression that some of the techs there don't have any idea on how to repair the laptop. I'd much prefer to repair it myself too. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 14 2012, 05:19 PM) I run into this thread, and I would say your experiences will probably dissuade lots of lay person from buying a Asus laptop Agree with you. Asus does make really nice laptops with great specs, but their customer service could do with a lot of improving. It looks like some of them are good & if you were lucky enough to get a good technician to do the repairs, you'd get your laptop back in working condition. However, it seems that some of the technicians there are also louse, so, if your laptop ended up with them, susah. However I also sense that a lot of you actually like the Asus design / pricing, and will embrace Asus again should its warranty services get back to "reasonable" level There were some interesting ideas, i.e. facebook, complaint with Taiwan HQ ... Generally I don't think this will be effective. To get thing moving, you need to publicise it. Example: the Foxconn labour issue. It has been there for a long time, but by having major news agency carrying the news by linking it with Apple iPhone, that's a stroke of campaign genius. My suggestion: Hit it where it will hurt. Asus laptops are being reviewed all over the internet. Most of the time, there are rated quite favourably. A lot of potential buyers all over the world read these reviews. What you need to do is to consistent post on the user forum of these review site, to highlight your issue Some of the review site I could think off: notebookcheck, notebookreview, anandtech, tomshardware ... I believe you could come up with many more. Organise: You could split up and assign a site to maybe 2 or 3 victims here. Action: Post a comment on user forum, whenever a new model of Asus laptop is being reviewed. There should be plenty of opportunities. Objective: Paint a doubt in potential buyers all over the world on Asus warranty services. That's it. Just "doubt". Duration: Execute this plan consistently over a period of say 1 year. You could review the effectiveness from time to time, by sharing the number / type / general response from readers from these sites. Message: Be consistent, Be rational, Be factual, Don't be angry, Don't hyper-bole. My suggestion is that the 1st post is a standard draft. You just copy and paste Feel free to amend the below draft. Just come up with something that you are comfortable with: "We would like to share our bad experiences dealing with Asus warranty services in Malaysia. Examples include: Asus service centre take more than xxx months to repair xxx. Asus take more than xxx years to refund .... (Quote concrete examples) ... (Post links to threads). This type of bad warranty services has been on-going for xxx years, with numerious complaints posted to Asus Malaysia, Asus Taiwan HQ ...., Asus is just paying lip service and giving empty promise, and there has been no improvement in service level at all over the years. Our expression of grievance on Asus facebook (and other social media) site, on the other hand, has always been deleted with utmost diligence and urgency. Buyer Bewares and Good Luck." Oh, I am not working in IT sector For complaints, perhaps apart from complaining at their website, we could also complain at NCCC http://www.nccc.org.my/v2/index.php/guide-to-complaint According to them, an angry consumer is a good consumer. From what I've seen, I believe that Asus would not escalate complaints to the upper management unless it reaches a certain number of complain. I could be wrong though. |

Yes, you can sue Asus through the small claims courts
http://www.consumer.org.my/index.php/compl...l-claims-courts http://legal-malaysia.blogspot.com/2008/08...urself-diy.html Perhaps doing this will help Asus get rid of the unprofessional personal & replace them with better people so we can start getting better service. From what I've read in the forum so far, it seems the they do have good people there but the lousy ones are the ones that are screwing up & giving them a bad reputation. |

I was thinking of getting an asus G75VX but with the remarks from here, I'm starting to lean towards the RS-17 from illegear.
grrr. I've emailed Asus many times asking when they will be bringing in Thunderbolt equipped G75s (they're already doing this overseas). & the only answer from them is. "we currently not bringing them in" which means, what? Never bringing them in? ever? seriously? or please wait til next year then we bring them in?" Really lembab response from Asus. I'm starting to think that the customer service is getting money from other companies to chase Asus customers away. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Feb 25 2013, 03:28 PM) I don't think this is fair to criticise the Asus Malaysia customer service on this Actually, their reply to my question on when they will be bringing in the TB equipped laptops wasThe most likely explanation is that the Customer Service handling the email don't know. Customer Service don't know because the Product guy don't tell them / don't want to tell them / also don't know / waiting for stocks to clear before launching new model ... "we will not be bringing them in" On the bright side, someone on the ROG forum had their G73 replaced with a G75 after RMA. Which means we still do have some good guys at the Asus CS. Wish we had more of them. |

actually its not so much a thunderbolt issue than a customer service issue. My big worry is that if I do buy an Asus & there is a problem, the Customer Service isn't too helpful.

QUOTE(kenviro @ Apr 10 2013, 12:13 PM) It's a good thing that I am not buying any Asus laptop. I'm shopping for a laptop, and it looks like I'll be buying a Lenovo laptop. You might want to take a look at illegear. I was planning on getting a G75 but with the tidak apa attitude from Asus am considering getting something else. Maybe an G75 from illegear or RS-17.Thanks for posting your bad experience about Asus laptop and their technical support. It'll warn many people to stay away from their laptops. Just worried about the build quality though. Asus has very good reviews overseas & their build quality is pretty good but in Malaysia, their CS is a little slow. |

From what I see here, the main problem seems to be Asus Service Center.
I'm thinking of getting an Asus G75 from illegear. So far, I haven't heard any horror stories about them yet. |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ May 2 2013, 09:23 PM) True, but as Illegear is the one doing the repair/replacement, there is a higher chance that the illegear technician doesn't break something else. Asus Service Center Technicians range from incredible good to incredible hulk. If you kena the hulk one, they may end up breaking more things than fixing. Another thing is Illegear can customize the laptop before sending to you (Can add an SSD, more RAM, Diamond thermal paste, ect). & according to Prince J (Illegear's Rep in Lowyat), the estimate repair time is not more than 1 month, usually 3~4 days. Asus still cannot tell me what is the maximum time taken to repair/replace a laptop. So if I were to get a G75, I will probably get it through Illegear as they seem to have better customer service. Any advice? |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ May 3 2013, 11:41 AM) Illegear definitely has better warranty support service. Asus G75VX currently has the GTX670MX. But Illegear still has to get spare parts from Asus. As Prince J if they get directly from Asus Taiwan or still has to rely on Asus Malaysia At the price that you get the G75, might as well go for the illegear RS-17 Illegear RS-17 has the GTX680M. Currently Illegear is having a promotion FREE Crucial M4 128GB SSD Primary Drive Upgrade FREE IC Diamond Thermal Compound FREE Professional Color Calibration But even with this, its almost RM500 more expensive. (without the promo, it would be RM1000 more expensive). As for Illegear service, PrinceJ so far has responded to all my questions promptly, even though I have yet to buy anything from him. Asus, errr, has taught me patience. a lot of patience. Plus, I haven't been able to find anything bad said about illegear yet but there are a ton about Asus SC. (Note: I am talking about the customer service center & the lack of service from a few bad apples there). Really wish that Asus would fire the lousy ones & keep & reward the good ones. |
