ok, lets not rush for the title

Must get the ground rules correct 1st.

E.g. topic announce on every Fri.

Must newly shoot.

etc

they even tried out the D800 vs hasselblad h4d, and it seems that the D800's standing up pretty well!

kinda amazed with the superbness of the sensor.

The sound very loud? My 35mm also have sound while focusing, but only audible under super silent environment, the vr on my 55-300mm got a soft tick sound when pressing half way down the shutter

When i'm on live view recording under silent environment it can capture the focusing sound like metal twisting :sewat:
*
not loud...yea lo...when buying that time didnt notice got such sound...only when i test it under quiet environment...
but guess it is ok cz d squeeky sound also sometimes will hv sometimes dun hv... rclxub.gif

those potential buyers all were whining because they thought the D800 has low light capability of a D70 because of its high MP.

But as soon as they seen the samples in low light most of them changed their mind, stop whining and took out their credit cards. hahaha

and potential 5d mk iii buyers were attracted to change camp too! haha

5D3 a lot of stock, jump ship!
Yup, plenty around. But 1DX is still vapourware.

QUOTE(makaroni @ Apr 19 2012, 01:45 PM)
yeah, i dont understand why nikon put 24mp on entry level body, its look like all newer body after this will have 24 & above mp, D7100 perhaps?drool.gif
Yes, perhaps the newer Nikon bodies will use the same sensor. Therefore it is overall cheaper to build the D3200 (and other bodies that base on this same sensor) if you can meet the bulk quantity which they sub-con to Sony.

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Apr 19 2012, 04:36 PM)
Why wordless, any problem with that or with me? huh.gif
Foolomak, 5 digits spending on a go laugh.gif
Buy anything else with a D800 will get you into the 5 figure region. nod.gif

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Apr 19 2012, 05:16 PM)
I couldn't be sure, but is that the first f/1.8 Gold Ring lens? Probably the N coat will make it an interesting lens to own smile.gif
Indeed, the 28mm f/1.8 should be interesting. Interesting times to be a Nikon user.

QUOTE(hkenh @ Apr 19 2012, 05:37 PM)
Hopefully they are trying to set a trend where the days of Nikon's lenses are always more expensive than Canon are gone.
Looking forward for more affordable gong ring + nano coated lens!!!  rclxms.gif
Back in the old days, Nikon lenses are more expensive. Not anymore. Looking at equivalent lens lineup below 200mm, Nikon lenses are cheaper.

Perhaps it's the new Nikon strategy to target the consumer market by releasing quality entry level DSLRs and pro grade lenses are affordable prices. Good for them.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 19 2012, 06:26 PM)
Newbies love high MP. When they see a DSLR, they usually go 'how many MP is this?'

So Nikon is probably on the right track... when the shop goes, 24MP sharp sharp. Newbies buys it immediately  laugh.gif
I use to scoff at high MP when Canon was in the lead back then. I was only after quality pixels. Huge MPs with rubbish quality mostly was not what I was after. Therefore I was quite surprised when Nikon turned around and proved that high MP does not mean you get more rubbish pixels.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Apr 19 2012, 07:03 PM)
so the D800 is for the mega newbie? tongue.gif
Gives chances for newbies to get a first taste of medium format quality. sweat.gif

how much is a brand new D3s right now? still RM14k?
been seeing a few used ones going for RM11k and lower now.
I'm hoping their prices will dip down. But then I would be in the "hard-to-resist" dilemma. laugh.gif

Can you get a D800 NOW at a reasonable price? If yes, why not?

Well, different lenses for different uses. I own 3 lenses that cover the 24mm focal range. Each one is different.

I can't help but as a Nikon fanboy, D800 smokes the 5d mk3 according to DxOmark Lab, LOL
http://nikonrumors.com/2012/04/19/dxomark-...rk-iii-81.aspx/
This is "old news" already. biggrin.gif Not surprising at all.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 19 2012, 09:51 PM)
Aiya, sure dapao 5D3 then LOL. Dapao even the D4.
If you gauge the current response of the photographic community on the internet, it seems like the D800 is a much bigger hit than the D4. Almost everyone is discussing about D800 with D4 hardly. Even here. biggrin.gif

What's the advise for getting a photo printer, use will be mainly for work/client/presentation, max i'd print would be an A3 size but unlikely it will be on a routine basis. budget <rm1k
Was looking at some at one point of time. Does a sub 1k A3 printer exist? I thought most are in the 3 to 4k range.

QUOTE(ojtee @ Apr 19 2012, 10:00 PM)
I'd buy a Nikon if there was one.......
LOL On that note, I think Canon printers are quite good. You need to give credit where it's due.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 19 2012, 10:05 PM)
I prefer it to be compared at 22MP though...
Don't need to go too far to Canon. The comparison shots of the D4 and the D800 (scales down to 18MP) on ISOs all the way up to ISO 6400 is identical !

Yup, pretty close to the H4D.

Most affordable would be 60N macro no ?
laugh.gif just spray one coating and Nikon can earn more brows.gif
