QUOTE(Everdying @ Mar 31 2012, 02:50 PM)
ya, i find 35mm cacat on DX.
while everyone says the view is like 50mm, technically its not...only the field of view is...not the experience if u can call it that.
cos thru the viewfinder what u see thru it isnt the same size as u see with naked eye...afterall u are looking thru a 35mm lens and not 50mm.
but if u want to take group shots...i would wait and see how much the new 28mm 1.8G is going to be and get that instead.

Added on March 31, 2012, 3:10 pmactually, no use waiting la.
the 28mm 1.8G is FX, so wont be cheap.

for wider prime, maybe look for a used 24mm f/2.8, below RM1k.
*
35mm is never same as what we see, can say is few step backward of your position (wider view), while 50mm and 55mm dx is same as what we see but since it is not full frame you still need to move backward to get the actual view of what you wanted to see/capture

Anyone using d5100 here? How much frame you can burst before the buffer filled up? Mine is like less than 10 picture only with class 6 16gb sandisk sdhc

Taking long exposure shot will take a long time for it to clar the buffer before i can shot again, if 30sec shutter it will take aroound 20-25sec to clear the buffer hmm.gif

you need to wait how long shocking.gif

QUOTE(Everdying @ Apr 4 2012, 04:33 PM)
i would guess you have auto distortion control and long exposure nr both set to on.
*
i dont think i have the distortion control on, but i have noise reduction on and other reduction or improvement

dynamic range set to highest, color space is neutral and other settings forget

those feature affect the writing time as well? hmm.gif

Yea NR on for Long exposure is the answer biggrin.gif Basically what the camera does, it takes 2 exposure. So the camera can identify which are hot pixels in the 1st exposure later on the camera will subtract the dark frame from the shot. Something like that smile.gif
*
only affect long exposure if i off NR? it wont affect bust mode?

how about the dynamic range or dynamic lightning thingy at the menu? will it affect too?

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Apr 4 2012, 05:42 PM)
There is 2 type NR, one is the normal NR, one more NR is "LONG EXPOSURE NOISE REDUCTION".

Your SD Card is Class 6, but what speed? The standard one is 6MB/sec. You shoot JPEG or RAW? or BOTH?
*
sandisk ultra class 6 30mbps, RM89

i shot RAW only, without jpeg

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Apr 4 2012, 05:45 PM)
The dynamic range, affect the exposure time?

Basically lets say for a correct exposure it takes 20 secs so ur 1st exposure will be at 20 secs. Later on the camera will take another exposure for another 20secs same as the 1st. thats why it takes that long..
*
i know what is that feature, it is called ADL lightning or something like that, i always put that in "High"

if i turned off the long exposure NR will it affect my image quality? let's say bulb mode on ISO 100, which usually has close to no noise

another problem is that my burst shutter only can burst like less than 10 frame and it started to slowdown, so if i turn off the normal noise reduction it help increase the time with the sacrifice of noisy picture on high ISO?

from the tech specs it supposed to burst 16 shots if shot on RAW ONLY hmm.gif

Adl stands for active d lighting, I don't think you know what it does so set it to auto.. Read up your manual or google wink.gif I'm replying by phone haha very sian in kampung TT

About NR I don't know if it applies to raw because isn't raw untouched? Sorry I don't really know.. But does it matter you burst till 10 frames should be quite alot! You shoot sports?
*
sometime stage performance dont wanna miss candid moments, so i set to bust mode

sports maybe in the future

but the long buffer in long exposure is annoying, imagine you want to take firework and it took a long time to save the picture doh.gif

i think i solved the problem, turned off ADL and NR and the buffer is better now, especially long exposure

but burst shot on RAW only can go up to 10 frame before it start to slow down, will try on my friend's class 10 again

i dont think my class 6 is fake, but i didnt check when i buy la tongue.gif

if you read the D5100 manual, i'm sure it also states the buffer is only 16 RAW shots.
and the buffer will start to slow once it reaches anywhere near there.

also sports shooters mostly shoot jpg.
until the D4 appeared, which lets you shoot 11fps in RAW with no slowdown due to a very big buffer.
*
ya is 16 raw, but mine only 10 raw and it started to slowdown, maybe because it is class 6 memory card? hmm.gif

That much differences compared to D700's NEF? Haven't tried opening one yet... Oh dear, more money to be spent? sad.gif I was thinking to upgrade next year instead with the new socket from Intel. Intel always changing socket making me unable to upgrade  vmad.gif
Should not start to slow down when you still have 10 in buffer... could be your lens hunting for focus? Shoot in manual focus and see if there's any differences.
*
i use manual with shutter 1/500 and it only able to reach 10 frame and slowdown on 11 frame

btw.....cat stare~
