Apart from the new CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard, are there any other cards that offer better or similar 5% cash rebate for Ecommerce spend (like at Groupon, Airasia, Agoda)?

Yes, UOB VOX card...

Hi, I come across your post below on hotelclub:

QUOTE
I booked a room through Hotelclub and was billed RM2857.62, the exact amount quoted to me in MYR in the checkout page. There was no currency conversion at all. Should i have known this earlier, i would have charged the room to my Citibank VISA instead of Maybank VISA  doh.gif

Anyway, the booking was made just 2 days ago and when i went back to the website this morning, the rate has gone down a bit to just RM2816.50. It means that i overpaid RM41.12  vmad.gif

Whenever you choose to book a room through Hotelclub, always choose MYR as your default currency. You'll notice that their MYR rate is lower than the rate quoted in USD or Korean Won (in my case).
I would like to know whether the booking will be charged to our card at the moment we submit the booking form (like Agoda), or during check-out (after the stay)?

Thank you smile.gif

It will be charged immediately. However, most hotel rooms sold by HotelClub is fully refundable. So do check if the hotel room you want to book is fully refundable. I cancelled a booking a few weeks ago for a hotel room in Singapore and the money was refunded to my account in only 2 or 3 days. Very efficient i must say thumbup.gif

By the way, do book your room through the HotelClub/VISA promo page smile.gif

Hi, thanks for the confirmation. I was a bit hesitant initially as it states, "Hotel fees are paid upon check-in or check-out, unless otherwise specified by the hotel policies", but I later figure that it applies to cancellation or room service charges. Yeah, saw that cancellation bears no fee but only the hotel may impose some.

I booked through the Visa promo page where it states 15% discount offer. I did a comparison, no difference in pricing between CIMB/RHB and a few ringgit cheaper than agoda (7% Maybank Amex discount).

The price shown between USD and MYR is exactly the same as current forex, so I opted for MYR too. If everything goes well, I will get further 5% cashback (RHB online transaction promo).

laugh.gif

add:
The transaction is not posted at online banking yet, but the amount deducted from my CL is a few ringgit more than the amount shown at the voucher (small amount of ~RM6). I thought if we select MYR, there is no more forex?

My annual salary is RM 25k+. No loans. No prior credit cards. This would be my first credit card.

1. HLB Mach card via bank personnel - Rejected.
2. UoB One card via online - Rejected.
3. RHB Tesco card via bank branch - Rejected
4. RHB Evo card (same time as above) - Rejected

Sigh. I really want to know the exact reasons why I'm being rejected but nobody want to tell.

Edit: I've also checked CTOS and CCRIS. I'm clean.

I do know that some credit cards are easier to be approved for first timer e.g. citibank and hsbc. the rest, you got to have some cc records first.

EPF ok. The EPF statement I printed this morning trying to apply at RHB branch stated that all above 220 for the past six months.

Well, I'm only sharing based on my personal experience. I still remember applying twice for maybank cc years ago when my salary is just puny. Both got rejected. My first cc was citibank. Followed by hsbc.

Okay, so I have contacted both RHB bank and HotelClub.

According to HotelClub, the amount billed will be the same as what is shown at the voucher (no forex fee).

I contacted RHB to check on the amount billed (still floating) and here is what I got:

RTG ratetogo - RM5.90
RTG hotelclub - RMRM270.75

The amount shown at the voucher is RM270.51

Anyone know what is this 5.90 for, and why there is a difference of 0.24 there? rclxub.gif

add: received a clarification from HotelClub, all is well on the 5.90 smile.gif
QUOTE
We only charged you with the total quoted cost of 270.75 MYR.  You may however see a pre-authorization of 5.90 MYR.  This is only a pending transaction to your account to obtain authorization from your bank that the credit/debit card provided for a recent reservation is valid.  This will automatically drop off of your account within 3-5 business days.
The difference in the figure will be refunded.

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone knows if RHB credit card statement/bill has itemized details on the transactions? Because i paid my fees a month back and i would like to see what did they bill me for. Or is it only the merchant info?

Hi, I need some confirmation from you all. I just got my credit card last Thursday, when i pump petrol at station, total amount was only Rm65, but when I received msg from CIMB, total rm200 was charged on my card. When I called the Credit Card call centre, i was told it is normal if pump outside instead of going to counter? Tht means everytime i pump petrol outside, I'll be charged Rm200 instead of original amount? Then end of the month only I can get my right figure on petrol? Anyone facing this problem before?

yes, this is normal for transactions at the petrol kiosk
just wait a few days and the correct amount will be reflected to your cc account

and you do not need to post at 2 separate threads yawn.gif
