I agree!!!

The higher the Margin the better.

The lower the Attenuation the better.

It is just probably the connection to international links.

I was wondering about the upload speed too. Maybe you should check with them.

Hrm I just stumbled on this thread about SNR Margin today.
My 504T reports mine as:

SNR Down: 10
SNR Up: 9
Line Atten Down: 35
Line Atten Up: 17

From what I can tell from the first post, my atten is fine, but my SNR is borderline terrible.
However, my connection seems to be OK, just that downloads from some sites are slow. And BT is only doin 30+kBps instead of my usual 50+kBps.

What could have happened? Recently my Netgear got fried (presumably by lightning), so I'm wondering if maybe it's possible the wire from my wall to my modem is defective adi?

I got almost similar problem here. My SNR was high last time but now i got
SNR Down 3
SNR up 6
Line Atten Down 63
Line Atten Down 43

all this happend after lightning fried my modem couple weeks ago.
I was in near my modem when lightning struck it. I can smell the modem fried. All network card within my network gone and a switch also gone.

Affect gaming ? I think the a better way of describing the effects of low SNR margin is disconnection. If you have a very low SNR margin, call TM and report that. Not TMNet but TM. smile.gif

And btw will those TM ppl understand when i complain to them saying i got low SNR margin?? I mean will they understand the word SNR MARGIN?? whistling.gif whistling.gif
Cuz when i said to the TMnet technician last time when he came my house. i said i got low SNR margin he said ' Apa itu?' laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'll just say this, my SNR, Attenuation was the same the whole day till now but the download speed for 3 torrent I'm dloading has suddenly spiked from 3-16kB/s (whole day) to 97kB/s. It'll stay at this speed till about 5-6am and then it'll go back slow. Confirmed something's up. LOL

This is my D-Link 500T.

My streamyx keep disconnected every 1-2 minutes. I know it must be the high attenuation.

What can I do? Call 100 and report to the Telekom? What am I going to tell them?

You are indeed suffering from a low SNR and high attenuation. Call 100 and tell them that you use streamyx and it keeps disconnecting. Most importantly, tell them that you have a low SNR and high attenuation. Ask them what they can probably do to help you.(or directly tell them that you want to change the wires) tongue.gif

Below average SNR margin and high attenuation. Check splitters and telephone wires. If problem still persists, you will need to call telekom at 100.

So I have a bad local & remote SNR margin (below 10dB most of the time).

i am just wondering if the use of my extension cable (15 metres from the phone jack) can have any effect to the SNR margin (based on the image No.1).

user posted image

If I do No.2 (which require me to extend the main phone line so it will be closer to my PC), will it improve the SNR margin?
