20+dB to 6dB??? With 6dB, I doubt you can even surf properly. Where do you live? And did you add anything to your network such as splitters/microfilter etc?
Addition: You better call up streamyx.

How many days have the connection been so poor and can you roughly tell me where you live?

I must consider myself lucky to have 31dB SNR margin. Never disconnected before but still the speed to certain websites is slow.

QUOTE(highway04 @ Nov 27 2005, 05:45 PM) thx alot my us margin = 22 ds margin = 31 is tat good??? That's good. QUOTE(Richard @ Nov 27 2005, 06:01 PM) If that's the SNR value, anything below 11db is good Err... I think you have typed something wrongly. It is supposed to be "anything above 11dB is good". Not below.

QUOTE(unstoppable @ Nov 28 2005, 01:23 AM) i using a spliter mah..is that affected? Oh splitter, generally it does not affect. But this is my experience. I bought a RM 10 "made in China" splitter. I used it and straight away the SNR drop until become unstable. Then I opened up that splitter and analysed the circuit. Then I found that they have connected the modem to phone and vice versa. So, the modem port becomed filtered. Then I swithed the cables and tata... Not a single dB is affected. Lesson: Don't trust the label and try switching around.

What the heck??? What is that SNR margin? And btw, your attenuation is quite high. I am connected to streamyx throught fiber optic but I never see such thing happening to my connection. And I was laughing by myself at the computer when I read this. I wonder if someone thought that I lost my mind. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Feb 10 2006, 02:27 PM

QUOTE(glabb @ Feb 18 2006, 07:24 PM) I managed to get to my modem settings for ZTE ZXDSL 831. Could someone check my statistics and see if they're ok? Local Line Atten. - 47.5dB Remote Line Atten. - 30.0dB Local SNR Margin - 21.0dB Remote SNR Margin - 9.0dB Thanks Your line attenuation is quite high.

QUOTE(glabb @ Feb 18 2006, 07:59 PM) Besides that, does everything seem fine? I'm always getting disconnected, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to get a more stable connection. Thanks. You'll always get disconnected because your line attenuation is high. Try checking your connection. If the attenuation is still high, call streamyx or telekom to change a new line for you.

Condo ah? That one I'm not sure... If it is normal terrace house, then telekom will do it. Try asking other forumer and see. I don't live in a condo, that's why I do not know about this...

QUOTE(RyonanGT @ Feb 22 2006, 06:42 PM) errr... raed through 5 pages in this thread... but still can't quite understand on how to determine whether my Streamyx SNR margin is good or not.. Margin value the higher the better or the lower better?? Attenuation value the higher the better or the lower better?? Margin value should be high. Attenuation should be as low as possible. According to the quote, the connection is good.

QUOTE(PSB @ Mar 12 2006, 09:50 PM) I am using the Aztech DSL1100R ADSL 4 port ethernet router. Is there any way I can check for any of those stats? You may access the stats page at http://192.168.1.1 or http://login.router/ or http://10.0.0.2/These are commonly used IPs. Unless you have changed it. QUOTE(bonebone @ Mar 14 2006, 10:42 PM) then how to fix it?? any ideas?? cut line?? or apply new one?? ^^ Your line condition is poor. Contact telekom and tell them that you're having problem with streamyx due to the poor line. They will eventually come to your house and do the changing at no cost.

QUOTE(Confession @ Mar 13 2006, 07:52 PM) Your download attenuation is abit high. Nothing to worry yet if you don't face frequent disconnection. Perhaps you may want to check the condition of you splitter etc etc.
